Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Life (i)

Aiden stored his sword in his bracelet and exited the academy.

Aiden already knew some of the best magic artifact stores and magic clothing stores from magazines and newspapers he had read before.

After reaching the road, Aiden hired a magic car for a ride.

This was one of the inventions born from the fusion of science and magic.

It ran entirely on magic, and no matter how many times Aiden saw it, he couldn't help but feel amazed.

Science would not be as popular or advanced today if not for the legendary man Nathaniel Astoria.

Approximately five hundred years ago, this legendary man was born with unparalleled knowledge and helped humanity reach greater heights in science. He presented numerous blueprints of advanced machines such as trains, cars, airships, and more.

He also created many formulas and proved them all by the age of twenty. Born into a small baron family, his lineage has since become one of the most legendary families in the world.

Putting those thoughts aside, Aiden instructed the driver, "West side of Vermilion City," and the driver immediately started the magic car.

During the ride, Aiden saw countless buildings, cars, and people chatting, walking, and going about their daily work.

In short, it was a peaceful environment.

Yet, while observing this peaceful scene, Aiden felt an inexplicable sense of loss—one he could not fully comprehend.

After a fifteen-minute ride, Aiden reached his destination.

Checking the fare on the meter, Aiden handed one gold coin to the driver.

Previously, Aiden didn't know much about currency, but after some research, he learned that one gold coin was equivalent to one hundred silver coins.

A middle-class family could live comfortably on two to three gold coins per month, and silver coins were primarily used by commoners.

Because of this, traveling by magic car was quite expensive compared to carriages, which was why cars were mostly used by nobles.

Stepping onto the roadside, Aiden noticed a large clothing store.

The name displayed above the entrance read:

Live With Style

This was Aiden's first destination.

He entered the store and saw a reception desk where a receptionist was seated. She was a beautiful woman in her early thirties with a charming smile.

"Welcome, sir. How may I help you?" she asked politely.

"I need custom-made full pants with magic craftsmanship," Aiden replied.

She pointed toward a seat in the corner and said, "Please have a seat, sir. The designer will be with you shortly."

She then picked up a communicator device and contacted someone.

The communicator was a round, crystal-glass device that worked through magic.

The Empire strictly prohibited its use by anyone under the age of eighteen, which was why Aiden still sent letters to his home.

After waiting for a few moments, a man approached him.

He appeared to be in his forties, with brown hair and black eyes.

"Hello, I'm Jeremy Banter," the man introduced himself.

"I'm Aiden," Aiden replied.

"Sir, please follow me so we can select the design and discuss the details," Jeremy said.

Aiden followed him into an underground hall.

The area was brightly lit but comfortable, with green-colored walls. Numerous pants of different styles and colors were displayed behind glass panels.

It took Aiden only a few moments to choose a design. He pointed to a simple black pair.

"I want this design," Aiden said.

Jeremy nodded. "Alright. As for materials and magic enhancement, prices start from fifty gold coins."

Aiden wanted extremely durable materials and advanced magic, so he replied, "One thousand gold coins for one pair, and I want three pairs."

Jeremy's face showed signs of cracking for a brief moment, but he quickly recovered.

Clearly, encountering a client willing to offer one thousand gold coins was rare, let alone three thousand.

After a short pause, Jeremy asked, "What type of magic would you like to imbue?"

"A certain level of damage resistance and auto-regeneration if the clothing gets damaged. Also, if possible, I want it to assist in healing my injuries," Aiden replied.

"That is entirely possible, sir," Jeremy said confidently.

"Oh, that's great," Aiden replied, pleased.

"Sir, you'll need to pay a minimum advance of one hundred gold coins," Jeremy added.

Aiden nodded and returned to the receptionist, paying the required amount.

She handed him a card as proof of payment.

Based on the specifications, the receptionist informed him that it would take approximately fifteen days to complete the pants.

Aiden then left the store and decided to visit another shop for the remaining parts of his suit.

Buying everything from the same store might attract unnecessary attention or backfire later.
