Leon slowly opened his eyes. In front of him lay a beauty, on her side, breathing in sync with him, close enough to touch.
The morning sunlight spilled onto Rossweise's silver hair. It looked like pure, untouched snow in winter, making it hard to disturb her.
Her eyes were gently closed, her eyelashes long and distinct. The usual sharpness was gone from her delicate face. She looked incredibly relaxed and content.
Looking at the beauty before him, Leon reached out in a daze. His fingertips gently brushed across her cheek. The corners of his mouth even lifted into a slight smile without him thinking. But the next moment, Leon's smile froze. He suddenly realized that such a cosy morning did not belong to him!
His fingertips lingered on Rossweise's chin. He lifted the strands of hair beside it, revealing her neck. On this fair, swan like neck, there were red kiss marks everywhere.
Seeing this, Leon could not help but swallow hard. Lifting the covers a little more, he saw that Rossweise's shoulders, chest, and thighs were also covered in kiss marks. It was even more intense than that night with the Dragon Strength Pill.
Looking down at his own body, he saw many red marks and kisses. His limbs felt weak, and his muscles were sore. These marks and feelings brought back bits and pieces of memory from last night for Leon. He could not remember the whole process clearly. He only vaguely remembered Rossweise calling him a little dog, and him responding happily.
And he had been very proactive last night, almost like an impatient new husband. Rossweise must have enjoyed herself thoroughly. She had successfully made Leon willingly abandon his pride as a dragon slayer and join her, a mother dragon, in the passion of the moment.
For Leon, this was another time he had broken past his limits, another shameful experience.
Thinking about this, Leon bit his lower lip in anger. He clenched his fist, threw off the covers, and got out of bed. He made a lot of noise on purpose, hoping to wake Rossweise up. But it seemed this mother dragon was fast asleep.
Even with all the noise Leon made, she showed no sign of waking up.
"Sleeping this deeply is rare for you. Are you not usually very disciplined?" Leon mumbled as he got dressed.
He grumbled while putting on his clothes. Looking at the messy room, Leon hesitated for a moment. Then he picked up a broom and started to clean. He did this not because Rossweise liked things clean, but because he was worried his daughters might come over later. If they saw the messy scene, they would surely ask questions.
And it would stain the purity of the children's innocent minds!
They were not allowed to understand these things! They were too young!
This thought made Leon feel very embarrassed!
So, Leon started cleaning from top to bottom. The sofa and the bed were the most important areas. They were extremely messy, and there were stains from an unknown liquid on them. These definitely needed to be cleaned. It would be too annoying to look at otherwise.
When it was time to change the sheets, Leon poked Rossweise's hip with the broom handle. "Hey, stop pretending to sleep. Get up, I need to change the sheets."
But Rossweise did not respond at all. There was not even a grunt to show she did not want to get up. She just lay there peacefully.
Leon frowned, feeling that something was wrong. He put down the broom, sat on the edge of the bed, and gently pushed Rossweise's shoulder.
"Rossweise? Hey, wake up. Stop pretending."
But there was still no response.
Leon's eyes moved slightly. He immediately reached out to check Rossweise's breathing. He also held her wrist to feel her pulse.
Everything seemed normal. If Rossweise was in a coma and would not wake up, could it be because of the Blood Enchantment?
Leon thought this was very likely. Back in school, the academy had taught similar courses.
You could make a good guess about what would happen based on how strong a magic spell was and the condition of the person who cast it and the person it was cast on.
Leon had used a similar idea before. He used precise control of lightning magic to break down the leftover effects of the Dragon Strength Pill. He looked at Rossweise's sleeping face and chuckled.
"You said the Blood Enchantment would not affect you, foolish dragon," Leon remarked. He bent down and gently patted Rossweise's cheek. "It looks like your plan backfired."
He had faced many setbacks himself. From sneaking away right after waking up, to fighting a fully powered Dragon King with a body that was almost broken. Every try had ended in a predictable disaster. Now, it was Rossweise's turn.
Even though he felt some satisfaction at her misfortune, Leon could not ignore the fact that she might be unconscious for a long time. Thinking about his own experience, he guessed a healthy Dragon King's body would probably be out for about a week.
A week… Leon thought as he got off the bed. He walked towards the balcony and looked out at the distant mountains, in the direction of the Empire.
There was no denying it. Rossweise's sudden coma was a perfect chance for Leon to escape. But he was not as reckless as he had been months ago. His body was getting better, but he had gotten some new injuries from yesterday's sparring match with Rossweise and from the night with the mother dragon. Reaching human territory in a week sounded good, but in reality, it was not certain he could make it.
Also, Leon knew nothing about what the Empire was like now. He had left two years ago. He still did not fully understand who had betrayed him back then. Going back to the Empire could mean a great welcome, or it could mean more trouble. Thinking about his own safety, staying at the Silver Dragon Temple to recover seemed like the best choice.
His daughters were the most important reason. Muwen, the younger one, would be heartbroken. Noah, who seemed distant, secretly longed for family warmth. Leon's love for his daughters came from his blood. It would not change, no matter what. So, for himself, for his daughters, and for the chance to get back at the mother dragon later, Leon chose to stay.
He walked back to the bedroom and sat on the bed, looking at Rossweise. His gaze changed. It was no longer the look of a false husband. It was the look of a dragon slayer, watching over a dragon king who was waiting for her fate.
"In the minutes and seconds to come, I will be by your side, Rossweise," Leon declared. "You always liked an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Well, this time, I will give you what you want."
For a dragon slayer, a dragon was the ultimate prize. He was not afraid. He was ready for the final battle!
Who says staying in the Silver Dragon Temple does not make you a hero? Leon thought.
