Chapter 112 - The Source of Depletion

Master's way of doing things had always been different from ordinary people's. So when he wrote "don't worry" in the letter, he might genuinely be annoyed that the disciple he raised since childhood had become "incompetent."

When others called Leon incompetent, he would just dismiss it with a laugh.

"If you think I'm incompetent, then come and challenge me. But if my master says I'm incompetent, then I have to take it seriously."

It had been quite some time since he woke up. During this period, although he had endured Rossweise's… attentions, and his body's recovery rate wasn't as fast as before, recent events had led to a steady improvement in Leon's overall physical condition.

Returning to his peak was only a matter of time.

Rossweise shouldn't have given him that half-month break; it had given him a surplus of energy. And during the days he was in control, he hadn't forgotten to maintain his strength through regular use.

So even though the situation was stable now, if Rossweise wanted to manipulate him as easily as before in the future, it wouldn't be so simple. It would require real effort.

But for top Dragon Slayers like Leon, who repeatedly achieved feats on the battlefield and slew countless enemies, it wasn't just brute strength they relied on. There was also the crucial element of "magical power."

Leon's magical attribute was "Lightning"—an extremely offensive element.

Whether used for clearing out large groups of lesser foes or dealing single-target damage to Dragon Kings, it was extraordinarily effective.

However, after awakening, Leon had tried to tap into his magical power and found it was nowhere near as strong as before his coma.

When he first forged the Dragon Strength, it was his first time using magic after awakening, and he had vaguely felt his magical power was almost depleted.

Later, during his spar with Rossweise, the mother dragon had unleashed dragon flames and various magical attacks. Leon could only dodge, lacking enough magic to counterattack.

In desperation, he had barely managed to strengthen himself with the remnants of his thunder element, which allowed him to turn the tables momentarily.

But in the end, he was still defeated by Rossweise.

There was no way around it—even with strong physical qualities, without magical support, one simply couldn't defeat opponents at the Dragon King level.

After dinner, Leon sat in his room, pondering the issue of his magical power.

He looked at his palm, attempting to channel his magic. A few lazy electric sparks flickered weakly.

It was like a part-time worker getting a call from the boss after hours, cheerfully saying, "I'm coming, I'm coming," but having no real intention of moving.

Leon stared at the fading sparks, feeling conflicted. "Honestly, if you don't want to shine, then don't."

It was too weak.

The strength of his magical power was less than one-tenth of what it was before his coma. What could be the cause?

Leon pondered. Had Rossweise tampered with his body during his coma?

After some thought, he quickly dismissed the idea.

If Rossweise had really wanted to do something to him while he was unconscious, simply suppressing his magical power would have been the least of it.

She could have done much more—like ensuring his physical qualities never fully recovered, leaving him permanently weakened after waking up. Why bother with their current battle of wits and wills?

Moreover, when Leon tried to channel his magic, he only sensed "depletion," not any external force suppressing or sealing it.

So, if it wasn't Rossweise, he needed to look for the reason within himself.

Leon scratched his head and glanced at several books on the table. They were basic magic and herbal guides he used for teaching Noah and forging the Dragon Strength.

He had gone through them repeatedly and was sure they held no solution for his magic depletion.

"Instead of guessing here, I should find some more useful books."

He remembered seeing a library while wandering the temple with Muen. It wasn't frequented by many, so it was likely Rossweise's private collection.

"The books hidden there should hold the answers I need."

After a moment's hesitation, Leon got up and went to the room adjacent to Rossweise's study. She was working on some leftover tasks.

Hearing his footsteps, the queen looked up. Seeing it was Leon, she lowered her head again. "Do you need something?"

Leon leaned against the doorway, thinking for a moment. "Muen has been asking about magic enlightenment recently. I don't have much experience, so I wanted to borrow some books from you to study."

Rossweise continued working, gesturing with her chin toward a nearby bookshelf. "Take whatever you want from there."

Leon's eyes flickered slightly, but he said nothing. He just nodded and walked to the bookshelf.

Scanning the titles, he picked out a few books, skimmed them briefly, then turned back to Rossweise.

"These aren't quite enough. Do you have any others?"

Rossweise paused her work, glancing sideways. "It's just for magic enlightenment. Aren't these sufficient?"

Leon shrugged. "After enlightenment, we still need to slowly teach her basic magic. I'm not very familiar with the dragon clan's magic curriculum, so I want to learn more while I have the time."

"I can teach her," Rossweise said.

"You're usually very busy. I'll handle it," Leon replied.

After a pause, he added, "You saw the remedial lessons and final results I gave Noah for her entrance exam, right? I'm quite good at teaching children in that regard."

Rossweise thought it over and found his reasoning sound.

She was indeed very busy with her duties and often had to patrol the territories, making it hard to consistently teach Muen. The same went for Anna and the others.

Upon reflection, Leon did seem to be the most suitable candidate.

Setting down her pen, Rossweise opened a drawer and took out a key.

"On the fourth floor of the temple, on the left side, there's a library at the very end. The books there should meet your needs."

Leon looked at the key on the table. Though his expression remained calm, he was thrilled inside.

If he could freely access that library and find a solution to his magic depletion, it wouldn't be long now.

"Never underestimate how fast a top student can swim in the ocean of knowledge!"

Suppressing his excitement, Leon calmly picked up the key. "Thanks."

As he turned to leave, Rossweise suddenly called out, "Hey, wait."

Leon paused, thinking the dragoness might be having second thoughts…

He turned back. "What is it?"

"When you first underwent magic enlightenment, which element did you awaken?" Rossweise asked.

Hearing this, Leon relaxed inwardly. "The lightning element."

Regardless of race, anyone who practiced magic went through the enlightenment stage. The element awakened represented the user's innate power.

Of course, one could learn other elemental magics later, but in terms of control and learning speed, they could never match the innate element awakened at enlightenment.

It was worth noting that almost all magic users could only awaken one element. Those who awakened two were geniuses among geniuses.

As a top Dragon Slayer, Leon also only had one elemental magic.

Rossweise nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, I see."

"What about you?" Leon asked casually.

"I awakened to the fire element," Rossweise replied. "Most dragons awaken to fire. Didn't you learn that at the Dragon Slayer Academy?"

Leon chuckled. "I did. Just making conversation. No need to be suspicious."

Rossweise rolled her eyes and ignored him, returning to her work.

But this time, Leon didn't leave immediately. If most dragons awakened to fire, and humans awakened to various elements, what about human-dragon hybrids?

"So… what about Noah?" Leon asked again.

Rossweise's pen paused, as if the question was difficult. She replied vaguely, "Lightning."

"What?" Leon didn't catch it clearly.

"…Lightning. Noah awakened to the same element as you. Satisfied?" Rossweise said, somewhat reluctantly.

Leon laughed. "Oh, it's normal for a daughter to take after her father~" He shook the key in his hand and headed for the door.

Having found another chance to tease Rossweise, how could Leon let it go easily?

"Even if I've gotten a bit rusty, my daughter has inherited my strength. And Noah is a little genius. Doesn't that indirectly show her old man is a genius too?"

Leon chuckled and sighed. "Ah, I wonder if Muen will also awaken to lightning. I think she will."

Rossweise glanced at him. "Just wait and see. Muen will definitely awaken to fire."

"It'll be lightning," Leon insisted.

Rossweise's competitive spirit was sparked by his strange certainty. She slapped the table. "It's fire! We'll see!"
