It began with a flutter.

Aria woke in the middle of the night, unsure why at first — no pain, no sound, just a subtle sense of unease, like something left undone or words unsaid. The moonlight filtered in soft and pale through the window of their new apartment, casting long silver lines across the bedroom. The curtains stirred gently in the breeze Leon insisted on letting in every night, saying the babies deserved fresh air, even now.

Her hand moved instinctively to her belly.

Three little kicks. She exhaled.

They were still there. Still safe.

But sleep didn't return.

She turned slightly, careful not to wake Leon, though the man was already beginning to stir. Even half-asleep, his arm found her waist, pulling her close until her back rested against his chest.

"You're breathing too fast," he mumbled, voice rough with sleep. "Bad dream?"

"No dream yet," she whispered. "Just… overthinking, I guess."

He hummed, lips brushing her shoulder. "You're not alone in this, Aria."

"I know," she said, meaning it—and yet, some fears couldn't be shared in full. Some simply had to be carried.

When sleep did come again, it swept her away fast and deep—into a dream so vivid it clung to her even as dawn approached.

She was standing in a sunlit garden. Everything was soft and golden. She wore white. Her hands were empty at first. Then, one by one, they weren't.

A baby in each arm. One more against her chest, snug and impossibly small.

Leon sat nearby on a bench under the trees, watching her with such fierce tenderness her throat tightened. He was smiling in that quiet way of his—not the smirk he gave the world, but the real one he gave only her.

The dream-Aria turned to him and asked, "What if I'm not enough?"

And dream-Leon stood and crossed the space between them, wrapping one arm around her shoulders, the other cradling one of the babies she held. He whispered into her hair:

"You don't have to be everything. You only have to be their mother. And that's already enough."

She woke with wet cheeks and his arms still around her. The room was dim but warm now, morning slowly arriving beyond the curtains.

Leon blinked awake beside her, brushing her tears gently with his thumb.

"Hey," he said softly. "Another dream?"

She nodded, voice thick. "They were here… all three of them."

His eyes softened. "You met them?"

"I did." Her voice cracked just slightly. "They were perfect. And I was scared even in the dream."

"That makes sense," he murmured. "You're doing something huge. You're becoming. You're allowed to be scared."

Aria buried her face in his chest, the beat of his heart grounding her.

"Promise me something," she said quietly.

"Anything."

"When they get here… if I panic or mess up or forget what I'm doing—just remind me of this moment. Remind me they were always loved."

Leon wrapped his arms tighter around her. "Every day. As many times as you need."

Later that morning, he wrote something on a card and tucked it inside the drawer of her nightstand without saying a word. She found it hours later, while brushing her hair.

The card read:

In case you forget:You were always enough. And they were always loved.– L

She pressed the card to her heart and smiled through her tears.

Tomorrow could come when it wanted.

She was ready.
