Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: What Are You Talking About?

Ryōta Kitazawa stared at Misato Katsuragi in stunned silence.

But since she'd made the first move, he wasn't going to stand idly by like some monk of restraint.

He rolled over effortlessly and pinned her beneath him—eliciting startled yelps.

Ryōta really didn't hold back.

Through the night he showed no mercy. Misato's scream pierced the silence.

---

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the windows onto the pristine sheets. Misato awoke slowly, rubbing her sleepy eyes. She glanced at Ryōta sleeping beside her and felt a rush—this boy truly was incredible.

She'd been with many men before, but none like him—his presence made her heart feel light as honey. What surprised her most was how decisive he was—so unlike a typical 14-year-old.

No way a teenager should behave like that, she thought—yet here they were.

---

Ryōta stirred awake too, gently opening his eyes, and Misato's heart pounded at the sight of his handsome face. She wasn't sure how to face him after last night's intimacy—he was her superior in age, status, everything. Could things really continue?

> "Ryōta-kun… you're awake…"

Misato spoke softly, nervous.

> "Yes. Your bed is incredibly comfortable," Ryōta replied with a smile. "I've had my fair share of experiences… so I mean that sincerely."

> "Ryōta-kun… about last night… we were drunk—please don't take it to heart…" Misato confessed, looking down.

> "Heh, I know," Ryōta said gently, smiling at her worried expression. Fate would decide what happened next.

> "Right… good. Are you hungry? I'll make breakfast."

He noticed a flicker of sadness in her eyes. Their age gap and positions made a lasting relationship impossible—perhaps last night was only a fleeting encounter. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

---

Sounds came from the kitchen as Misato quietly slipped away to cook. Ryōta followed behind her.

> "You can sleep a bit more, if you want… it's okay," she murmured, her cheeks slightly flushed.

> "Heh, I always knew Misato-nee would be the nicest to me!" Ryōta teased gently, but emphasized each syllable humorously.

Misato's face turned bright red. Their breakfast was as awkward as it was terrible—but Ryōta kept a kindly, forgiving smile. Truth was, Misato's cooking... well, it needed work.

> "Let's go, Ryōta-kun. I'll drive you home," she offered, trying to mask her embarrassment.

> "Okay," he replied, slipping on his jacket.

They got into her blue Thunderbird and drove toward his home. Yet the closer they got, the darker Ryōta's expression became—reporters had already gathered outside his house.

There was no privacy left.

He sighed deeply.

> "Looks like you can't go home for now. If you don't mind... you can stay with me for a while."

Misato's voice trembled as she offered. This was more than gallantry—it was personal courage.

> "Alright then..." Ryōta gave a wry smile.

He realized NERV had thrust him into the spotlight, and now he was exposed to endless scrutiny. He thought bitterly:

Gendo Ikari… seriously.

Still, he had the War God system inside him—no media hawks could scare him away.

---

> "Ryōta-kun, since you'll be staying here, let's head out and buy essentials—maybe groceries. I can cook for you tonight," she suggested with a tentative smile.

They arrived at the supermarket together.

> "Really? You cook?" Misato asked happily.

> "Naturally," he replied.

> "Great! With you cooking, I'll be in heaven."

As they shopped, Misato seemed hopeful—perhaps sharing life together wasn't impossible.

---

Suddenly, a commanding voice cut through the calm:

> "Misato!"

Ryōta turned and saw a tall man standing before them, smiling.

> "Oh… Ishiki Kishimoto...(OC)" Misato's face fell.

It was Captain Ishiki of the Japanese UN military command, a rising hawk within the forces.

> "Ah, Misato... still the same, as beautiful as ever," Ishiki smiled at her. Then he looked at Ryōta with a cold laugh:

> "And I never expected this kid to be with you. You two better stay apart. If I see you messing with her again... you'll regret it, Kitazawa."

Ryōta didn't flinch. Misato seethed and snapped back:

> "Ishiki! What are you even talking about?"
