Chapter 52 - CHAPTER 52:"The One that Opposes Envy"

_Chapter Begins_

William's mind was in absolute turmoil. His will had been weakened by the emotional manipulation of the sin of Envy, and now he was doing something very stupid.

"Why give that vile thing such a peaceful death!"

He had just shouted these words to the being that had just defeated the wooden abomination with no effort—the same monster that had ripped William apart multiple times throughout two different encounters.

The wooden abomination had been his greatest enemy. William had shed blood, sweat, and tears to get his revenge on that fiend.

Not only had the angelic woman stolen his chances of revenge against the monster, but she had also made a mockery of the whole thing.

"What the hell did she even do to that thing..."

His gaze shifted for a second, and he got a glance at the corpse of the wooden beast. The two purplish lights that had once burned with madness and fury were now no more—replaced by two hollow eye sockets that sat on opposite sides of the creature's wooden skull.

It was as if the soul of the monster had been extinguished from within.

"How—how had she done it with so little effort."

While his emotional state was not at all in a good position, William's deduction skills still remained healthy.

He knew that there were seven planets, each representing a deadly sin, and he also knew that there was a champion for each of those planets—him being the one for Envy.

Heaven was the counterpart of Hell, so it would only make sense that they would have a system that was similar in structure.

If he was correct, then Heaven would have seven pillars of virtue that act as champions for the seven planets of Heaven, just like Hell does.

So, it would only make sense that this girl was one of the seven pillars of virtue that inhabited Heaven.

But this conclusion only served to make him more confused.

What was one of the seven pillars of virtue doing here in Hell?

His thoughts came to an abrupt end as he saw that the angelic woman was getting ready to speak.

William could only hope that he would not end up like his former nemesis.

"You must be the pillar of Envy, right?"

Her voice was calm and even, but for some reason that only made William feel more tense.

Letting out a sigh, he placed his right hand on his chest and tried to suppress all of the negative emotions as he spoke.

"Yes, I am the pillar of Envy. And who might you be?"

The angel had a deep frown on her face, which made William very worried, as the girl had been nothing but smiles when dealing with the wooden abomination.

Why had she switched up her act now? Was it because he was a pillar of sin?

With her eyes locked on William, she spoke once more.

"I am an angel, representing kindness. And I have come here to talk to you, pillar of Envy."

With that, William's theory was immediately proven correct. Hell and Heaven did indeed have the same structure, with seven planets and seven champions for each planet.

So this woman was the angel representing kindness. This single fact answered a lot of the questions that had been roaming his mind, especially the ones about the sin of Envy.

William had been confused as to why the sin of Envy had manipulated his emotions and made him feel so disgusted and angry at the existence of this girl. But now, it made a lot of sense.

Not only was the girl a carrier of a virtue, but that virtue also just happened to be the one that opposes the sin of Envy.

Kindness was the opposer of jealousy after all.

"I wonder... why does she want to have a talk with me out of all seven sins. We literally can't stand being around each other, as my sin opposes her virtue and vice versa."

He now knew who this woman was, and he also knew why his sin hated her so much. But he still had no idea why she was here in the first place.

"It would be really great to have someone that can assist me right now... dammit Elsa, where the Hell have you gone?!"

It had been quite a while since William had heard from her, and he could only hope that she would return right about now.

****************

Meanwhile, in a small cavern, a young girl with long raven black hair and deep black eyes was sitting alone on the ground.

Her body was covered by a menacing black armour that had jagged spikes that sprung from each and every part of the suit.

She was currently waiting for her older brother to return and get her out of here...

"It's been quite a while, and that stupid idiot still hasn't returned my dagger."

Jane looked at the ground, a worried expression finding its way onto her face.

"I hope that he's alright..."

She hated him for what he had done in the past, but he was still her older brother, and she very much still cared about him.

"Oh, don't worry, he is doing very well."

Jane almost broke her own neck as she turned to where the voice had resounded.

And what she saw was none other than a blonde girl with blue eyes that was sitting beside one of the walls of the cave.

Jane choked on her own spit as she tried to get a few words out.

"...Elsa... it's just you, thank god. Why the hell did you scare me like that?!"

The blonde girl let out a soft chuckle and walked a few steps to where Jane was sitting.

Throwing her golden hair to the side, she spoke in a cheery tone that made Jane feel very uncomfortable.

"Your brother is alright, I can assure you of that. But we need to go meet up with him, now."

Jane tilted her head to the side, being slightly confused at Elsa's words.

She pointed her finger up at the ceiling of the cave, where the exit hole was.

"I would love to go to my brother, but that hole is at least fifty feet from the ground, and unlike my brother, I don't have a sin to grant me power."

Elsa let out another chuckle and kneeled in front of Jane, a wide smile being present on her beautiful face.

"Don't worry, you won't need the power of a sin. Mine will be plenty for you to cover that distance."

Jane got only a single second to express shock before Elsa did something.... unexpected.
