Chapter 84 - Da Magicks

POV Rio

After the fight at the Asylum we start cleaning up the mess. Only 3 mercenaries survived so Jack decided to give it to the Minutemen as he can't protect it anymore. The mercenaries are assigned to protect Jack when he heads back to Boston. Jack let me have anything that remained behind. The mercenaries only asked to have the equipment of their allies and to get the chance to bury their friends. I agreed to all of the requests.

The bodies of the Raiders were fed to the Deathclaws except for the Juggernaut and Lorenzo Cabot. I promised to create as many serums from Lorezno as I could. Jack wanted to take the crown but I strongly opposed.

"That thing is a very dangerous artifact. It needs to be destroyed," I say firmly.

"C-Can you destroy it? I don't want to keep that thing. Not after all the damage it has caused. I was just going to try and destroy it myself," Jack said.

"I can. Or at the very least I can make sure it is never found again," I say.

"Fine, take it. Take it away. And here is the formula for creating the serums. I need any you can make," Jack said.

After agreeing, I got the notification that I was now Idolized by Cabot House. It gave me the Scientific Method perk. It made it so I took 15% less damage from Energy Weapons, and I deal 20% more damage with them. Overall, it was a great perk if I ever used Energy Weapons. Which was decently likely, as I knew they had a higher upper limit than ballistic weapons. And resistances were always great.

I nodded and put the crown and recipe in my inventory. The other loot from the asylum was pretty great. The first notable loot I found was Massachusetts Surgical Journal #16 - Let's Play Doctor! It boosted Limb Damage by another 2%. After that was the Charisma Bobblehead, which read: Darling, I may be bleeding out... but at least I'm doing it fashionably. The quote was pretty funny to me but more important than that was the Special Perk it unlocked.

Da Magicks:

You no longer suffer from debuffs due to your species or origin when speaking with others. You will never be treated negatively due to your species or origin, even by your enemies. There is no limit to settlement size under your control. Subordinates/Followers no longer require food, drink, or sleep (doing so can offer buffs, but is not required).

The buff was crazy good. The first part was nice but nothing too crazy. What the real prize was the last part. Subordinates/Followers was a catch all term to basically mean everyone in my faction. This was so insanely broken I didn't even know where to begin. Technically it meant that I no longer need to grow food or filter water. All faction members basically had the Gamer's Body or at least the form that a Player would have in the Fallout 4 game. Any food they ate would just heal them or give them buffs. This perk gave the Minutemen a massive advantage against basically all organic lifeforms. Heck even mechanical lifeforms often needed to rest. The settlement size was also nice but I haven't made a max size settlement. This basically meant I had unlimited building budget. It also meant I could have as many Settlers as I wanted.

Overall I was more than happy with my gains. Not to mention I had leveled up a few more times. So I could get the perk I needed.

Master Builder

Better than the Oregon Trail!

Rank 1 (Level 75): Each of your settlements have a 50% chance to generate random junk/item per day.

Rank 2 (Level 80): Your Settlers/Followers now have +2 to all SPECIAL stats, immunity to status effects, and any loot dropped by them will automatically enter the Workshop Inventory to prevent looting by the enemy.

Rank 3 (Level 85): You can now build or update settlements from anywhere using the Settlement Management System via a Pipboy or Terminal. (only works within the same Universe) (Also allows access to all Workshop inventories with previous rules).

Rank 4 (Level 90): You can now create New Workshops that can create new System Reconized Settlements.

The benefits the perk gave were great. The first perk was decent since from what I understand the Junk/Item would be newly created so it would mean we have very slow but sure renewable resources. It's not the greatest but I would take what I could get. The second rank was great since it applied to the Minutmen as well. It would prevent any technology getting into the wrong hands. The third rank was great as it meant I could unload anything I looted instantly as long as I was within the same Universe. It gave me a theoretical infinite inventory. Of course it wasn't that perfect. I could store an item from the inventory and even transfer it to another Workshop but I couldn't take anything. But that was acceptable. But the 4th rank was the main reason I picked this perk. I can now massively expand the territory controlled by me. And all those Workshops created unbreakable constructs.

'I'll need to make sure I always have one on me.'

The rest of the loot was the usual items. Guns, Chems, Ammo, Stimpaks, etc. As I was sorting through the loot Cait came over to me looking guilty and little more pale than usual.

"I never thought I'd be sayin' this, but I... well, I really need your help," Cait says with a shaky voice.

"Of course anything you need I will do it," I say with concern.

"I was hopin' you'd say that. We're friends now, which means I can trust ya with anythin'. I'm also hopin' it means you've got me back... 'cause I need it now more than ever. I'm... I'm sick... and I don't think I can hide it from ya anymore," Cait says with teary eyes.

"Okay, calm down and take a deep breath. If you're sick, I want to help you," I say with a reassuring voice.

"Okay, okay... it's like this. Ever since I left home, I been usin' Psycho. I dunno why I'm still takin' that crap, but I can't stop... and believe me, I've tried. I can't even go a day without it anymore and I'm f*ckin' sick and tired of it. I've even been doin' it behind your back.... sneakin' doeses when I think you aren't lookin'. Worst of all, it's been makin' me sick. I've been spittin' blood and I don't feel right inside. I need to get this shite out of me system before I wind up dead," Cait says with a deeply guilty look.

"Just tell me what to do," I say with a dead serious tone.

"There might be a way, but it's not gonna be easy. There's supposed to be a vault somewhere out here... a place called Vault 95. I've heard that Vault-Tec used it for some kinda social experiment... stuck a bunch of junkies inside to poke and prod. Well, they supposedly had some special method to clean up those blokes in there... some kind of a machine or somethin'. If we could get inside, maybe that machine could help me," Cait says.

"Done. I will call a Vertibird right away," I say.

"I can't believe how kind you're bein' to me, even when I'm lettin' you down. Look, I don't want you think I'm some kind of lowlife junkie... a stupid girl who's harming herself for no good reason. From one friend to another, all I'm askin' is for your help. When you're ready, take me out to Vault 95 and help me put an end to me pain," Cait practically begs.

"You're not letting me down. We all have our struggles. I am just happy you asked for help. You're my friend and I won't abandon a friend no matter what," I say with a firm tone.

"Thank you," Cait says and then she hugs me.

I was shocked for a moment as Cait isn't the one to usually initiate affectionate actions. I hug back and tell her she will be okay. I then send the message to Preston to send over any air craft we have for an emergency mission. Preston tells me Pequod is the nearest unit and it will arrive in 15 minutes.

I plan out the route we will take. I also let everyone else know it is time to go and that a pickup will arrive in 15 minutes.

15 Mintues Later...

"This is Pequod approaching the LZ," Pequod says.

We watch as the UTH-66 Blackfoot comes in and hovers over the ground. A squad of Minutemen disembark and salute me.

"We'll guard this place until more troops arrive," says the leader of the squad.

"Thank you," I reply.

We get on Pequod and I add the destination into the computer.

"Got it General," Pequod says.

We get seated and then we lift off. I was sitting near the door as I would take the gun if we needed to clear some hostiles. Cait sat in the center. Hancock had the other door. Dogmeat was the copilot as usual. And Deacon was also in the center.

"We'll arrive in 30 minutes," Pequod announces over the comms.

The trip was uneventful. We didn't have to deal with any enemies as we were flying too high to be bothered by almost any enemies.

"Approaching LZ. I am picking up hostiles occupying the Vault. Get ready to clean them up," Pequod says.

"Got it. Remember focus on the threats to Pequod first," I remind Hancock.

"Got it," Hancock says.

"Doors opening! Take them out Boss!" Pequod says.

WRRRRRRRRR BRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!

The Gunners were caught off guard and got ripped to shreds. Some survived by hiding in the Vault but Pequod went lower to the ground giving me a clear shot.

"Coming in for a landing," Pequod says.

Pequod hovers over the Landing Zone and we disembark.

"Good luck down there Boss," Pequod says.

We watch as Pequod flies off and we get ready to head deeper into the Vault.
