Chapter 101 - Battle Of Boston Airport

POV Pharynx

We had been assisting in numerous projects and had also undertaken more complex operations. The first one was to weaken the Gunners and clear out an area controlled by Super Mutants. We infiltrated the Super Mutants of Roxbury and led them into a battle against the Gunners HQ GNN. The plan went as well as it could. 414 Super Mutants vs 250 well-dug-in Gunners. But the point wasn't to wipe out the HQ. Instead, it was to draw forces away from Quincy.

Before the attack, Quincy had over 600 Gunners living and defending it. We could break them and retake the city, but that would be extremely costly. We didn't want to lose too much trying to retake the city or rely on bombarding it into nothingness. So we needed to draw the Gunners away from Quincy without alerting them. The plan worked perfectly. The Gunners had 76 men left by the time we were done, then they called 400 from Quincy to keep their HQ safe.

We had already drawn up plans to retake Quincy; we just had to be patient before we could do that. We needed to deal with the Brotherhood. We had been on many missions, mostly retrieval and scavenging ops. Now our current mission has us gathering every last Feral Ghoul we could and getting them ready to assault the Airport. We had basically traveled all over the Commonwealth for the past month trying to find and lead any we could find. We even did a few trips into the North Eastern section, but only by a little bit.

Even with all the traveling we did, we only managed to collect 8300 Feral Ghouls. We had also been constantly trying to prevent the Brotherhood from noticing them. Which was not easy, with all the times a few would wander off and attack someone.

During our explorations of the North East, we traveled to Salem and saw what happened there. The entire town had been massacred. One of the very few survivors we talked to said some people were protecting a Synth, and the Brotherhood attacked to wipe out the Synth, which caused the town to defend itself. They didn't stand a chance. The fighting got so bad that even the nearby cult got drawn into it. Not that it helped, but it did give us an opportunity. There were three locations in the area that we could clear out and loot.

They were the Crater House, Kingsport Lighthouse, and Salem itself. The first two were much harder than the last. The Children of Atom controlled both, and they were unwilling to give it up. But despite their resistance, we still killed them all. For one, they didn't fortify the areas that well. The most we had to deal with were some Mines, but we didn't set them off anyway. Crater House was a radioactive crater that had some makeshift houses built over it. We kept our distance and picked them off one by one. It also helped that they weren't full in numbers, thanks to some helping defend Salem.

They didn't do so out of the goodness of their hearts; instead, Salem offered to let them worship in the town and would join their cult. Kingsport Lighthouse was a bit trickier, as the Lighthouse itself was one long staircase with minimal coverage for invading forces. But we fixed that by flying to the top and clearing it from both sides. Two at the bottom would draw fire while two from the top killed all the enemies in the stairwells.

After dealing with the Cultists, we claimed the workshop and moved back to Salem to start the looting. The only survivor of the town, Barney Rook, let us keep anything we wanted as long as we helped set up some turrets and defenses to keep the Mirelurks away. Uritca was able to do so easily and even made them remotely controlled from the Rook Family House.

The loot we found was sent to His Highness. It wasn't much, but from what we understand, it helps him grow stronger. We found Guns and Bullets Issue #5, Avoid Those Pesky Gun Laws!, Wasteland Survival Guide Issue #2, Insect Repellent Special, Massachusetts Surgical Journal Issue #3, Happy Sedation Special, and Tesla Science Issue #4, Tomorrow's Technology for Today's Super Soldiers.

(AN: The only magazine that has a unique effect is Wasteland Survival Guide Issue #2, Insect Repellent Special, which decreased damage from all insects by 5%. The rest are all the standard buffs that type of magazine gives.)

The last two were obtained because the Brotherhood had either missed them during their search of Salem and the Retirement Home or had been left behind on purpose. In either case, it worked better for us. The one place we didn't go into was the Museum of Witchcraft. The place was covered in Evil Magic, and we thought it best not to go in, as we technically weren't even supposed to be in this area. But as long as we stayed near the coast, we would be fine.

Back at the Boston Airport, our mission seemed simple enough. We just needed to lead the ferals to attack during the night. To facilitate this, we would kill the sentries to allow the ferals to get deeper into the airport before being detected. From what I was told, the Airport is one of the larger ones as it was built for international flights. Once the ferals got into the terminals, they would be safe from most aerial suppression. The Brotherhood had fortified all the broken windows with steel and wood, which would soon bite them in the rear.

(AN: I am making the Airport closer to the real-life version rather than the very small building we got in Fallout 4. )

"Captain, it's time," Urtica reminds me.

"Got it. All troops execute the mission," I say.

We were working alongside most of M.I.M.I.C. for this mission. We were going to plant spies during the chaos. I would lead the horde while Cornicle went to Fort Strong for the next phase of the Plan. Uritca would take out the digital security, such as turrets and the few cameras. Sclerite and the other agents would focus on taking out the sentries and preventing the Brotherhood from noticing what was happening.

POV Sclerite

I split off from the other agents and moved to take out my targets. I was in charge of dealing with the harder-to-kill sentries, such as those in Power Armor. My first target was a Paladin named Roy. Normally, such enemies would be a pain to kill, but I had long since mastered how to kill such tin cans.

I approached my target from behind, and to make sure they didn't react, I did two things. First, I approached with no killing intent and with complete silence. The second was that I used my magic to create a noise in front of him. As he became alert, he looked into the darkness in front of him made him create a slight gap in his neck armor.

Puchi

I stuck my Ninjato blade into the back of his neck and severed his spine. The kill was instant, and before he could fall, I caught him and set him down. I stored his body. I didn't wait and moved on to my next target. I did make sure to press the button that opened the main gate that the Brotherhood had built to add extra protection.

'Looks like this will be quite the bloody night.'

30 Minutes Later...

I hear the sounds of screaming and laser fire, and decide it is time to leave. I had left no trace that I was here, and this attack would be chalked up to a wild Feral Attack. And with the bodies of the Sentries destroyed beyond recognition or missing, they couldn't question it. That was if it even got there, as the next phase would see the end of most of them.

POV Pharynx

The fighting was chaotic, and the Brotherhood had been caught completely off guard. With their advanced warning systems not going off and no alerts going off, many Brotherhood members were attacked while they were sleeping. I had to admit seeing a man waking up in agony as he is eaten alive was brutal and one of the worst things I had seen. Not the worst, as that would be seeing my brothers and sisters slowly starve to death in that wasteland.

'That won't happen again. His Highness has made certain of that.'

Despite being caught off guard and being outnumbered almost 9 to 1, the Brotherhood managed to recover and start fighting back. Another thing that was both in and against their favor was that most Brotherhood members don't sleep on the Prydwen but in the Airport. It was good for them as it meant more defenders, but it was bad as that meant more losses for them.

Eventually, the Brotherhood started to push the horde back, but that was when our next card came into play.

"YEAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!" Another horde appeared from behind the Brotherhood lines, which caused even more chaos and, more importantly for us, casualties.

I have no idea how His Highness knew there was a massive horde below the Airport or that it was being fed by a Brotherhood member, but it made our job that much easier.

Despite the ridiculously stacked odds against them, the Brotherhood eventually managed to wipe out the horde. I wasn't too shocked, as Ferals weren't that tough. They were only a threat in numbers or if they were the bloated variety. Individually, they were actually quite fragile. But that was fine, as we never intended to wipe out the Brotherhood with only this much.

'Well, time to wait for phase two.'
