EMMA
Finally the council meeting was over and I was walking towards the parlour when I saw him- Tyler.
For a heartbeat, I forgot to breathe.
He stood with his back to me, talking to another guard who laughed at something he said and moved on. Then the guard turned and I got a look at his face.
It was not Tyler. It was just a guard who had the same height and the same build.
The truth hit me again with enough force that I wheezed and shook. Tyler was dead and he was never coming back. I blinked back the tears I felt pooling in my eyes.
Some days it was still hard to accept that I would never see Tyler again. With every day that passed, with every new clue I discovered, I grew certain that Tyler had not wanted to kill me. Someone had forced him to.
