"I saw you."
Xander, who had been mid-motion, shoving me aside, stilled and slowly turned to face me, one brow arched in cool detachment.
"What are you on about now?" he asked with a sneer. "If this is one of your schemes to—"
"With Emma," I cut in smoothly, folding my arms, my eyes narrowing as I watched his expression. "I saw you go into her room that night. I heard everything. You begged her for sex, Xander. You sounded like some pathetic, love-struck pup."
His eyes widened, just for a second, just enough for me to catch the flicker of raw emotion before the mask of anger slammed back into place. The damage was already done. I had seen him flinch.
The silence that followed was dense, heavy with unspoken words.
"You will not speak to me like that," he said eventually, his voice dangerously low and strained.
