XANDER
Shame and guilt didn't even begin to scratch the surface of what I felt.
While I'd been back at Silver Creek, accusing Emma of every damn thing under the sun, she had been out there, saving my brother's life.
"And what thanks did she get for it?" Halo, my wolf, murmured softly in my head.
Stop, shouldn't you be on my side? I shot back, dragging a hand through my hair. You're making it worse.
But Halo wouldn't stop replaying it. Emma's face. The way her eyes had flashed with hurt and fury when I'd called her a slut in front of Leon, the guards and whoever else might've been eavesdropping.
Technically, it hadn't been the entire pack. But I knew Silver Creek too well. By nightfall, it would be on everyone's lips. Rumors spread like wildfire here, and I'd just handed them a torch.
There was no avoiding it this time. I had to apologize.
I'd crossed a line I couldn't ignore, and pretending nothing happened wasn't an option anymore.
