"You have to protect him at all costs."
Xavier looked up, his gaze following my trembling fingers clenched tightly around the edge of his desk. A shadow crossed his face as his brows furrowed.
"That's already being done," he said calmly, though a trace of concern tinged his tone.
"Emma, you know Ethan's had armed protection since the incident. We've ensured every security measure possible—"
I cut in with a sharp shake of my head.
"You're not listening. Whatever measures you've put in place… they're not enough. I think he's still in danger. I think he knows something—something someone might kill him to keep quiet."
Xavier paused, tapping his pen absently against the desk blotter before setting it down and rising slowly.
"Emma…" he said, voice low and cautious, "is there something you're not telling me? Something you know that we don't?"
