XERXES
I prowled the grounds like a caged beast.
It was past midnight and I was restless. Even the familiar numbers of the pack's accounts I often used to distract myself offered no relief tonight.
And it was all her fault.
Emma.
Ash whined inside me restlessly aching for her, and the memory of the kiss slammed back into my mind. The feel of her body crushing against mine. The reckless way she'd thrown herself at me. The sweet, maddening scent of her skin.
Groaning, I raked a hand through my hair and squeezed my eyes shut, trying to banish the images Ash insisted on replaying. He fed them to me mercilessly, stoking the hunger I loathed.
Sometimes I wished I could claw him right out of my skull. Tear him away, rip out the piece of me that belonged to him. It was his fault. His fault the kiss had happened. His fault, and the cursed mate bond that chained me to her, making me lose control.
