Chapter 16 - chapter 16

"Jesus, Avia keeps your voice down. What the hell." Kayla attacked her as the people in the restaurants took notice of them because of Avia's words,"What are you trying to do, ahh? Why don't you just take a mike and announce my poor hygiene to the world? That would have been better. You stupid"

Avia, who watched and observed Kayla, signed, "Look, I understand what..."

Kayla scorn cutting her off,"understand? Please, Avia, spare me all the lectures. You understand nothing about my situation."

"Oh! Really? Is that what you are saying now?"

"For pits sake Avia yes," Kayla turned to her as a tear dropped her face, she's being holding unto it for too long "do you know what it feels like as a lady to bathe once every two days? Or having to watch your sick parents working from morning to late at night, come rain or sun, just to have food on the table? Or feeding on just a vegetable for a whole month like a worm? Or having to watch my sibling fight over a piece of underwear," I laughed Sadly as the tears flowed hard, the painful memories "every time Aiden and filora had homework, just to get it done, I had to watch this little children ran to the train station every night for close to five hours just for the light or having to leaving in a home you don't even know when it will collapse on you. Sometimes we have to go hungry for days to get cold medicine for filora, after working tirelessly on the farm land, mum shop is not okay either everything is worst .we have to spend the money on father s hospital bill." I wipe a tear from my face,"now tell me, Avia ,can you even imagine my pain? I doubt it." She could never understand." Have you ever in your life felt like a failure of a child? Having to watch your family suffer to eat or even to get a piece of clothes, mother sometimes had to beg on the street just for food, when the crops go bad. Do you know how I felt having to watch all this? I die inside every time I hear mother cries over dad s terrible health, over the house crumbling, whenever it rains in my state, while other people, run to their rooms to sleep in their comfortable beds; my family and I had to struggle on the cold floor with the whole house swimming in flood. TELL ME, DO YOU THINK YOU UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION? So no, Avia ,you don't understand anything about my situation." I turned and picked my bags leaving hers, and once she had bought for me, I pushed myself up

Avia looked pained; of course she would,"wait? Where are you going?" she asked me

I turned to her again, not minding the people staring hole at me. "So Pardon me, for not leaving a big life, having fun or partying or even going shopping. I came here to better the life of my family, no matter how long it takes me, that is exactly what I am going to do. I followed you to London to build a life, a future, hope for my family, and not for myself. Everything I do, I do for my family because they are the very life of me. So please, enough of you judging and questioning my choices, I expected you to encourage me, tell me everything will be alright, and of looking down on me."

Signing "Kayla,that's not .....,"

"Goodbye... See you at home." With that, I left her in the cafeteria.

"Great." Avia stood up as well, signalling for the waiter." I totally forgot I was talking to Kayla Clement. She was indeed a saint, one who was selfless, but... Hmm, when pissed she can be a devil spawn." Avia picked up the bag Kayla left behind and went after her.

Even as I came out of the cafeteria,I could feel the eyes that were following me,but I didn't care.

I intended to just go home, but it got to a point, the heaviness of the pain in my heart was too much for my leg to carry,I quickly sat on the street bench and just teared up.

I don t know for how long I cried but when passerby saw me,they mistook me for one of those beggars,as I stared at the money on the ground,I couldn't help but remember home,if it was village, this money will be for a month feeding but ... I turned my head around and there were two beggars sitting by the other end with their bowls empty, signing I pushed myself up "this wasn't my village and this wasn't the kayla of three years ago, that was small, weak, hopeless. I m in a different place, and I know that by working hard,I won t have to leave begging again." I smiled at each of the beggars and gave them the money.

I wept my tears off and went on my way;

No doubt Avia will be home. As soon as I got home, the first face I saw was that of Avia,I was still so blooding angry at her, instead of talking,I just ignored her and went upstairs.

"Seriously, kayla, the silent treatment? What are you ten?"

kayla ignored her and went upstairs, but the persistent Avia followed on her heels, she walked faster but even at that Avia was a step away, knowing that she couldn't possibly stop her; she gave it a rest and went inside her room, leaving the door open.

"What was that just now, kayla?" she asked in a pissed tone

"I don't know what you are talking about?" I replied her calmly

"Really now, kayla, are you going to play the 'I dont know game with me? I can't believe this."

"Once again, Avia ,I don t know what you are talking about."

"I am talking about you, just walking out on me back at the restaurants, and just now you pretended not to see me."

Pissed "Oh,well that's because I didn't."

"Oh!! Really? Wow,kayla! On top of being daft,I didn't know you were blind as well."

I paused and turned to her. "Well,I didn't know you were dumb as well too,but then again, you can't judge a book by its cover." I replied to her and went on preparing for my bath clothes,I heard her sign.
