Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: Prison

Chapter 48: Prison

"Hello, first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Kamihara Hajime."

A man and a woman, who had come with Gojo Satoru, extended their hands and shook Kamihara Hajime's hand.

"Hirakawa Kei."

"Suzuki Shiko."

Both were dressed in suits, with formal smiles on their faces. After a brief greeting, they stood in the spacious dojo at Jujutsu High. Gojo Satoru then said, "Let's begin."

The man named Hirakawa Kei took out a plain notebook and said, "Genichi-kun, please describe the effects of your Technique in detail and demonstrate it. I will be recording it in real-time."

Kamihara Hajime walked to the center, said "No problem," and began speaking.

"My Technique is related to time. I call it 'Time Wheel.' Its effect is to accelerate my own time, for example, like this..."

Kamihara Hajime held a card in his hand, which was a frontal portrait of Hirakawa Kei with his name on it. Hirakawa Kei, who had been feeling his pocket in confusion, showed surprise in his eyes.

Then he felt his coat pocket bulge. He looked down and saw his ID had reappeared inside, while Kamihara Hajime's words had not yet finished.

"I won't demonstrate the specific attack methods; it's not easy to show here, and you wouldn't be able to see it clearly anyway. Next is the Technique Reversal I learned from Gojo-sensei."

Kamihara Hajime looked at them with a brilliant smile: "I call it 'Reversal,' which, in short, means reversing my own time."

"Hmm... Gojo-sensei, could you please cooperate with the demonstration?"

Gojo Satoru readily agreed. The two decided in unison. Gojo Satoru raised his finger, and a rapidly swirling small red light ball lit up at his fingertip.

*Cursed Technique Reversal: Red*

Even with such low power, the moment Red appeared, it disturbed the surrounding airflow, startling Hirakawa Kei and Suzuki Shiko, who quickly moved away from Gojo Satoru.

"Gojo-san, please don't..."

Before he could finish, Gojo Satoru flicked his finger, launching the Red from his fingertip. The Red, streaking through the air like a red light, instantly struck Kamihara Hajime's abdomen.

Kamihara Hajime looked at the bowl-sized hole in his abdomen and couldn't help but complain, "Gojo-sensei, you opened up quite a large hole there. Even Cursed Spirits don't hit me that hard."

Gojo Satoru then replied, "Oh, stop talking nonsense. Hurry up and use your Technique, alright? This is my first time using a Technique on my own student. And this is already low power. Are you trying to demolish the school if it's any stronger?"

Amidst their relaxed conversation, Hirakawa Kei blinked, then, still disbelieving, he rubbed his eyes. The wound on Kamihara Hajime's abdomen vanished in an instant, and his Jujutsu High uniform returned to its pristine condition.

"It can't be an illusion, can it? But I'm also a Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer, so even if it were an illusion, it would be extraordinary..."

Of course, he didn't believe it was an illusion or that Kamihara Hajime was trying to deceive them. Except for a few isolated cases, there was no need to hide one's Technique in the Jujutsu World.

Because the 'disclosure' binding vow would enhance the effectiveness of one's Technique, which is very valuable in combat, especially when the strengths are evenly matched.

Moreover, what others knew was mostly the overall appearance of the Technique; the special moves and some details derived from it by the Jujutsu Sorcerer were not included. So, Hirakawa Kei believed that what this first-year boy said was true.

"Another genius who has been rated as Special Grade in his first year? The last one just had his Special Grade title removed not long ago..." Hirakawa Kei thought to himself as he silently recorded.

"By the way, can your Technique be used continuously like Gojo-san's?"

With a meaningful smile, Kamihara Hajime replied, "Of course. I've set my Technique to be triggered. If an attack harms my body, the automatically triggered Technique Reversal will revert me to the state before I was injured."

Finding it troublesome, Kamihara Hajime then suggested giving them a practical demonstration and pulled Gojo-sensei over for a friendly spar.

The dazzling attacks between the two made the two observers, standing near the doorway, widen their eyes, yet they still struggled to catch Kamihara Hajime's attack trajectory.

Only the dojo, which was destroyed and then instantly restored, and Kamihara Hajime, who occasionally appeared with strong aura, could prove the intensity of this battle.

Although Gojo Satoru looked relaxed in their eyes, they all knew the name of this strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer, and this first-year student could fight him back and forth, with injuries disappearing like illusions, just as before.

Frankly, if they were to go up against him, the time they could last would probably be counted in seconds...

"Alright, that's enough. It should be sufficient, right?"

The latter half was addressed to Hirakawa Kei and the other person. Hearing this, Hirakawa Kei closed his notebook and smiled, "Gojo-san, it's enough. That concludes today's session. We won't disturb you any further. Goodbye."

The two bowed and exited the dojo. Kamihara Hajime, stretching his body, thoughtfully said, "Gojo-sensei, I have a new move I want to try. Would you mind cooperating with me?"

Gojo Satoru's exquisite face crumpled ungracefully: "No... I'm busy."

A moment later, as if remembering something, a smile reappeared on his face: "Ah, there's a new mission that's perfect for you. The goal is to retrieve one of Sukuna's fingers. That finger has been swallowed by a Cursed Spirit, and 'Window' has tentatively classified it as a Special Grade Cursed Spirit."

Kamihara Hajime's expression shifted: "Sukuna? The legendary Curse King."

Ryomen Sukuna, whether from the depths of his memory or the records in the Jujutsu World, reminded Kamihara Hajime of this existence.

It is said that he was the strongest Curse User during the peak of Jujutsu in the Heian Era, a thousand years ago, with four arms and four eyes. Due to his pure evil, all Spellcasters at the time gathered to try and exorcise him, but they ultimately failed.

This extremely vicious and evil entity had transcended the categories of Curse Users or humans. Because of his power and similar appearance, he was even given the name of the mythical demon god 'Ryomen Sukuna.' After his death, his twenty fingers transformed into Special Grade Cursed Objects, sealed and scattered in various places.

Later, he would achieve a unique resurrection through the vessel known as Yuji Itadori, though he would have no control over the body.

"That's right, it's Sukuna's finger. How about it? Special Grade Cursed Spirits aren't exactly common. Isn't this the perfect opportunity for you to freely test out your new moves?"

Kamihara Hajime squinted at Gojo Satoru, who was smiling, revealing his white teeth, and said with a hint of suspicion, "Could it be that this is your mission, Sensei, and you're just dumping it on me?"

Gojo Satoru, exposed, showed no embarrassment: "How could that be? I, your Sensei, thought of this mission because I was considerate of your needs..."

"I'll take it."

"Excellent! I'll register it for you right away."

Gojo Satoru, whose expression changed in an instant, cheerfully settled the matter, then walked away with his arms behind his head.

...

"Oh? Ieiri-san, it's been a few days, and you look much better."

Ijichi Kiyotaka, standing by the car, smiled: "Genichi-kun, I was on vacation for a few days and got some rest. I feel much more relaxed."

"Did you go to a big city? Did you find any amazing restaurants? I'll have to try them sometime." Kamihara Hajime said, getting into the car and taking the paper intel handed to him by Ieiri, while chatting idly.

Ijichi started the car and smoothly drove onto the road, replying with a smile, "There really is one. Their sushi and sashimi are incredibly delicious. It's an old establishment. If you're interested, Genichi-kun, I'll send you the address later."

"Sounds great, sounds great! Ieiri-san, you should come along too then."

"Haha, thank you, Genichi-kun."

He finished reading the intel in his hand. It was just a more detailed supplement; the general situation had already been understood before.

The target Cursed Spirit is in a maximum-security prison called Ono Prison. When it was discovered, dozens of inmates and six prison guards had already died, not counting the number of injured.

The prison was urgently evacuated, and there have been no further casualties since. After confirming the presence of the Curse, it was handed over to Jujutsu Sorcerers for resolution.

This prison was actually quite famous in society because it held vicious criminals, including serious offenders and death row inmates. Over time, busybodies had concocted many stories about this prison, which were, of course, heavily suppressed.

Places like this usually have some 'exorcism' items to suppress Curses, and Ono Prison naturally had them, three of them located in different areas.

Who would have thought that inside one of these 'ritual tools,' shaped like a Buddha statue, a Special Grade Cursed Object—Sukuna's finger—would be hidden?

How the Buddha statue was broken and how Sukuna's finger inside was swallowed by the Cursed Spirit is unknown. In any case, the result was that the Cursed Spirit that swallowed Sukuna's finger successfully gained power, leaping to become a Special Grade Cursed Spirit.

Kamihara Hajime and Ieiri drove away from the hustle and bustle of the city, arriving at the scenic outskirts. After getting out of the car, Kamihara Hajime saw a massive, gloomy monster crouched by the roadside.

Although the place looked very clean, with its exterior walls and main gate seemingly renovated in recent years, the oppressive atmosphere upon arrival made breathing difficult.

Even under the sunlight, one wouldn't feel much openness here. At the entrance, a bald, middle-aged man in a prison guard uniform was waiting.

He had probably been standing for quite a while, and in the warm sunlight, he was sweating profusely, so he kept taking off his hat to wipe his forehead.

Upon seeing Kamihara Hajime and the other person arrive, he showed a look of pleasant surprise and quickly came over: "Gentlemen, I am the warden here, Yamaguchi Takuya. Are you the specialists responsible for this matter?"

Ijichi took out some kind of ID and handed it over. Kamihara Hajime paid no attention to it, turning instead to look at the prison.

Yamaguchi Takuya showed no disrespect due to their appearance and respectfully invited them inside.
