Chapter 86 Experiment Of The Law Of Darkness
Fiander observed the pair of Shinigami across from one another with keen interest, urging them from his position on Reinhard's back.
"Hey, hey! Don't stay still, get moving! "
Koral, hearing the Menos Grande's voice, appeared quite alarmed, casting a wary glance at Jijima.
He was acutely aware of Jijima's power, which could easily overpower him. As the third seat of the first team, Jijima's strength was well-recognized.
"Calm down, Koral! Don't fall for the enemy's trick. "
Noticing Koral's distressed demeanor, Jijima let out a soft sigh inwardly. He had feared such a scenario might unfold and had hoped bringing Koral along, to look after him.
"Come here, take it easy, Koral." Jijima repeated his encouragement.
"Yes. . . yes, I understand, Captain! " While speaking, Koral grasped his Zanpakutō anxiously and approached Jijima step by step.
However, the blade of his Zanpakutō remained directed toward Jijima, ignoring any notions of etiquette, shame, and the honor of the Shinigami as thoughts of survival consumed him.
At last, Koral reached Jijima's side, Jijima leaned closer, placing a reassuring hand on Koral's shoulder.
"Trust me, I will get you out alive."
With that declaration, Jijima gradually unsheathed his Zanpakutō before Koral and called out: "Flow Float! "
Once Jijima activated his Zanpakutō, he intended to swing it at Fiander and Reinhard, urging Koral to flee while he took on the threat.
However, there was a sudden 'Shing' sound, followed by a bright blade piercing through Jijima's chest.
Blood trickled down the blade as Jijima gazed in disbelief at Koral, who was still holding the Zanpakuto, wide-eyed in shock. He roared with anger and spite: "Koral....Why! "
"Why? Why didn't you believe in me? "
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Captain Jijima. I didn't want this, I truly didn't! You are stronger than I am, you could escape anytime. I can't, I simply can't run away. I want to live! "
"Since the Menos Grande stated that just one death is sufficient, I can only betray you, Captain Jijima!"
With that, Koral yanked the Zanpakutō from Jijima's body and then struck him from behind, sending him flying several meters to land before Fiander..
"Hehehe, what an excellent performance! "
Fiander commented as he observed Koral, whose face was coated in blood, and turned to Reinhard. "Eat him, don't let it go to waste."
"Yes, Master Fiander!" Reinhard responded promptly, opening his mouth to bite down on Jijima's head.
The gruesome sight paralyzed Koral, forcing him to collapse to the ground, trembling uncontrollably. He was utterly terrified, on the brink of despair. As the other figure moved closer, the oppressive Reiatsu weight left him gasping for air.
"My lord, I took his life as per your command, as you intended. . . " Koral glanced at Fiander, desperation flickering in his eyes.
"Naturally, I always mean what I say, so I will need your assistance again. You two are not the only Shinigami who have come to Hueco Mundo. "
A sense of dread enveloped Koral, beads of sweat trickling down his face, yet he mustered the courage to ask.
"My lord, what is it you mean by that? "
Fiander approached with a smirk, his fingers tracing a bloody line across Koral's face with his sharp nails, as he spoke, "Don't be foolish; didn't you understand what I just said? "
"I'll be blunt, then. I can allow you to leave, but you must gather all the other Shinigami, do you understand? "
Coral attempted to protest, but Fiander cut him off.
"I don't care how you achieve it; failure means death. And....."
He paused for a brief moment, glancing at Reinhard devouring the remains of Jijima, and continued, "I assure you, your death will be far worse than that of the one you killed. "
"You understand, if you can't deliver, you will be punished. Perhaps I'll strip your skin and infuse it with new energy, leaving only your flesh and blood to wander the Menos Grande forest? "
"Or I might confine your limbs and suspend you from a branch of the white tree, watching to see if any fortunate creatures come to feast on you? "
Before Fiander could elaborate, Koral's face turned ghostly pale, his eyes glazed as he croaked, "I. . . I will comply, my lord. . . do not worry! "
"Excellent, I shall say you're clever! "
Fiander gave Koral a pat on the shoulder, then addressed Reinhard "For heaven's sake, don't eat that, it looks absolutely dreadful! "
"Eh. . . but I'm not finished yet! "
"Go, keep a watchful eye on that boy; if he tries to flee, tear off his limbs and bring them back! "
"Understood, Lord Fiander! "
Reinhard immediately ceased eating and made his way to Koral's side, who regarded him with his hair bristling and eyes wide, reflecting terror.
"Let's proceed; my lord has tasked me with supervising you."
With that, Koral shakily rose, guilt washing over him as he glanced at Jijima's lifeless body before quickly redirecting his gaze, a newfound determination igniting in his eyes.
Watching the two depart, Fiander looked at Jijima's corpse, raised his hands towards it, and a cloud of black smoke enveloped him, seeping into his form.
Moments later, Jijima's lifeless body wavered, rising on stiff limbs.
"After a Shinigami dies, the soul doesn't vanish right away, I am uncertain which is the soul and which is the body."
As he spoke, Fiander curled his fingers, and a blue spirit emerged from the lifeless form. The bloody remains quickly transformed into spirit particles and evaporated into the atmosphere, leaving behind only the black Clothes, clogs, and the overcoats worn by the expeditionary forces that dropped to the ground.
"It appears to be true; the soul of the Shinigami takes precedence. "
"This could explain why in the storyline, when Aizen conducted the Hollow experiment, the Shinigami's soul faded away, and the body vanished, leaving only the attire from his life. "
Holding the blue light in his hand, it represented the essence of a Shinigami's soul. Typically, after a deceased Shinigami or wandering soul exceeds 24 hours of death, it would naturally depart from the body, yet the body itself doesn't disintegrate in the process.
"I will conduct some experiments; there are plenty of Shinigami present this time around, ample for thorough study."
Fiander's eyes exhibited no sign of emotion, and his approach to extinguishing life seemed as effortless as drawing a breath.
In this moment, his Hollow's brutality and authoritarian nature were fully apparent.
