Chapter 28 - Volume 1 Chapter 140: A Little Joke

Ning Chu felt like something was off.

Although her mind had mostly cleared, her body was still restless, reacting to the pheromones Wen Yang was releasing.

As a succubus, her body was naturally hypersensitive. After several episodes of unfulfilled desire that she had forcibly suppressed, her body had become overly fragile and prone to overreacting.

Uncomfortably clenching her thighs together, she glanced at Wen Yang's visible "strength" and found herself inexplicably parched.

Her mind couldn't stop replaying the infamous theater scene from Lily's storyline in the book.

This is bad! I need to run!

If Wen Yang made even the slightest move, she feared she wouldn't be able to resist, and they'd end up sneaking into the restroom for some unspeakable activities!

And considering his size, she'd be ruined!

Suddenly, Ning Chu sprang to her feet, her flushed face taut with resolve, and headed for the exit.

"Not watching anymore?" Wen Yang immediately stood up to follow her but stopped short when she abruptly froze. "What's wrong?"

"It's not that..."

Ning Chu hesitated, glancing back at him with a troubled expression.

She... kind of needed to use the restroom.

But the scene in the book had Lily and the protagonist leaving mid-movie for a "restroom moment." Now, here she was, leaving halfway through the film for the exact same reason.

No way! Could this really happen?!

Heart racing, Ning Chu cast her eyes downward, overwhelmed by an ominous premonition.

But holding it in wasn't an option either—ignoring her bladder would only lead to trouble.

"You wait here," she said.

"Sure," Wen Yang agreed readily, sitting back down without a fuss.

Rushing out of the theater, Ning Chu scanned the hallway for the restroom signs, turned a corner, and headed toward them. However, a pang of unease made her glance back nervously.

Okay, Wen Yang hasn't followed me.

But wait! In many hentai stories, creeps and perverts often hung around public restrooms!

She froze mid-step, staring at the empty hallway, and felt even less confident.

Taking hurried steps, she scurried back to the theater.

"Wen Yang! Wen Yang! Come out!"

Wen Yang looked toward the small head peeking through the theater door, utterly confused. Scratching the back of his head, he stood up and walked over.

"What's up with you?" he asked, puzzled.

"I don't want to watch anymore," she replied.

"We're only halfway through..."

Girls are so unpredictable.

Dragging Wen Yang along, she stopped outside the restrooms. Pausing to look at the signs for the men's and women's sections, she glanced down at her outfit and hesitated. After some thought, she turned and headed through the door on the right.

At school, her public identity was male, so using the men's restroom was normal. Entering the women's restroom would only risk classmates spotting her and spreading rumors that she was some kind of pervert.

But today, dressed as a girl, the women's restroom was the more appropriate choice.

"Wait here," she instructed.

"Okay," Wen Yang replied, watching her disappear inside. Muttering to himself, he added, "So you just wanted me to keep you company while you used the restroom..."

Still, his heart brimmed with joy. Over the past few days, Wen Yang had noticed how much Ning Chu depended on him.

Her strict rules about him not interacting with other girls, her jealous little tantrums—it was obvious. No matter how much she tried to deny it, Ning Chu liked him.

He used to worry that it might be his overconfidence or wishful thinking, but Ning Chu's behavior today confirmed his suspicions.

Besides, even Yan Xinya thought so.

Standing outside, Wen Yang waited patiently. It wasn't long—barely two minutes—before Ning Chu darted back out, rushing toward him with small, hurried steps. The moment she saw him, her pace quickened even more, and her tense shoulders relaxed. Even her expression softened, a faint smile slipping through.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

Stopping in front of him, Ning Chu raised her head and glared in mock annoyance. Her gaze flicked briefly downward, scanning him from head to toe, before she turned to wash her hands at the sink.

Fortunately, Lily's infamous storyline hadn't unfolded.

While washing her hands, Ning Chu kept sneaking glances at Wen Yang through the mirror.

Now that I think about it... how could this shy little virgin have the guts to flirt with me in a public theater? She smirked. Let alone drag me into a restroom for a "team-up."

Touching my leg was probably already his limit.

After all, Wen Yang hasn't yet turned into a shameless womanizing protagonist of a hentai doujin.

"Ning Chu..." Wen Yang's nervous voice broke her thoughts, his tone awkward and unsure.

"What is it?"

Turning to look at him after finishing up, Ning Chu froze in shock. Wen Yang stood less than ten centimeters away from her, their chests nearly touching.

Startled, she instinctively tried to step back, but her hips bumped into the sink. Left with no choice, she leaned her upper body backward to put some distance between them.

What the hell?! What's he trying to do?

Fumbling in her jacket pocket, she reached for the can of hypnotic spray she always carried.

"I... never mind," Wen Yang stammered, his confidence crumbling the moment he saw her panicked reaction. Stepping back two paces, he averted his gaze. "Forget it. Should we go back to the movie, or maybe wander around the mall instead?"

Watching him retreat, Ning Chu calmed down, her brain quickly piecing itself together again.

There we go. This is the Wen Yang I know—a shy little virgin through and through.

Her eyes sparkled with relief, her lips curling into a small smile.

Good. As long as no sly, seductive vixen gets their claws into him, he's still safe.

"I thought you were up to something. You scared me," she teased, exhaling deeply as she tucked the spray back into her pocket and straightened up.

Wen Yang side-eyed her reaction. "Be my girlfriend," he suddenly blurted out.

"!!!"

Heart. Stopped.

For a brief moment, Ning Chu felt like her pulse and breath had completely ceased. She stood there, utterly frozen, her mind struggling to process what had just happened.

She stared blankly at Wen Yang, his face flushed yet filled with earnest determination. Her thoughts were a swirling void.

"Everyone in class and on the forums already thinks we're dating," Wen Yang said, his voice tight with tension. "Why not make it official?"

Her heart started pounding again.

Thump. Thump

It hammered against her chest as if trying to escape.

"I..." she began.

"And... I really like you," he added, cutting her off.

Hearing his confession, Ning Chu was taken aback.

In the past, when she first learned she'd be turning into a girl, the idea of being confessed to by a man disgusted her to the core—so much so that she felt physically ill at the thought.

Even after she'd fully transitioned into a woman, the idea still felt off-putting and unacceptable.

But now, standing face-to-face with Wen Yang's earnest confession, all she felt was panic and confusion.

For a split second, a treacherous thought slipped into her mind: Maybe dating Wen Yang wouldn't be so bad?

Her gaze inadvertently dropped to Wen Yang's lower half, and she shuddered violently.

No! Absolutely not!

It wasn't just the fear of having her mind broken that made her reject the idea. The truth was she simply, possibly, probably had no interest in Wen Yang at all.

He was, after all, a character she had written herself. Every interaction with him felt more like doting on a son than engaging with a romantic partner.

Flustered, Ning Chu quickly shook her head, the motion so vigorous it left afterimages. "No, no, no! I only see you as a brother. I... I..."

She abruptly stopped mid-sentence, confused by the sudden smile on Wen Yang's face.

"What's with that look?"

"I was just joking. Couldn't you tell?" Wen Yang chuckled, turning his head to glance down the hallway. "Should we go back to the movie?"

Oh~ the self-esteem of a little virgin~

I don't know if he is crying secretly in his heart.

Watching his retreating figure, Ning Chu sighed, her head throbbing as she wondered how to deal with the situation.

But I've never been in a relationship either...
