After three minutes of the memory-wipe spell, Levi turned to leave. He reached out, intending to hold Kayden and lead him out of the garden — but the unwilling figure wasn't budging.
"Did you just try to wipe my memory?" Kayden asked, his glare sharp enough to cut through Levi's calm façade.
Levi froze, confusion flashing in his eyes. The spell — the same one that had worked flawlessly on Zolan — showed no effect here. Alarm began to creep in.
Could Kayden really be… a pureblood?
They were the only ones immune to the Phoenix witches' memory spells. If that was true, then this just made Levi's plan a whole lot more complicated.
"It's for your own protection," Levi said casually, though his mind was already turning. Stephen was oblivious to either of their true identities, and Levi's purpose was entirely different from what Kayden assumed.
Kayden scoffed. His protection? What a joke.
