Victoria stayed perched on the edge of her desk, legs crossed. She stared for a long moment at the closed door, then lowered her head.
"Dahlia."
Dahlia jumped.
"Yes, ma'am?"
"From now on, keep an eye on Blaze. Every move. Every meeting. Every girl he talks to. I want to know exactly what he's doing."
Dahlia blinked, confused.
"You… you're asking me to spy him? But why? With all due respect, ma'am, I believe it will be wise to at least show him we're considering the option. The Baby-Boom's situation should interest you more than that..."
Victoria's lips curved into a delightful smile.
"I heard a lot of pretty words. I didn't hear the truth."
She pushed off the desk, heels clicking as she stood. The halter-neck dress shifted, her glorious chest settling heavy.
"He didn't come here to pitch a roster change," she said. "He came here because he got caught snooping. All that talk about rebuilding the team? Convenient cover. I don't believe a single word."
