Chapter 45 - GYM

DANTE'S POV

I don't know if I want to pay a visit to Adrian today or not. I can just go to his office and beat the shit out of him because it's been three days since I saw his body guard following Adeline and I and he hasn't stopped since. Adeline of course, hasn't noticed it and I'm not willing to tell her because all it'll do is make her worry.

I have no idea if this body guard of Adrian has been following my Adeline up and down when I'm not close to her at her work place, and I can't exactly follow her around the entire city of New York because then, she'll start asking questions. Adrian hasn't given me any reason to believe he wants to hurt Adeline but the guy works for a sex trafficking organization for crying out loud.

I still have no idea what he's really capable of but if he's willing to put all his money in the kidnap and torture of innocent girls, if he's willing to send people to break into my home and try to kill me, that means the man is basically capable of anything.

After dropping Adeline at work today, I had to go to the gym, because I need something to release all this anger on. I've been working out since 8a.m and it's currently 11a.m.

My muscles hurt all over but I'm not willing to stop. I'm still angry, but working out helps me keep my self-control intact.

"Well look who we have here…" I hear an all too familiar manly voice and my eye immediately twitches in anger when I raise my head up slightly to see none other than Adrian Wellington standing in front of me and of course, his annoying body guard is right next to him, eyeing me curiously.

He knows I know he's been following me and he's looking me straight in the eye without blinking. This body guard is going to be trouble for me and I need to get rid of him as soon as possible.

Adrian Wellington is always in a suit, but right now, he's in nothing but sweatpants and a tight T-shirt. I can't stop thinking about how easy it will be to kill him. He looks like a tough guy but I bet he's not so tough when he's not around his body guard.

I look at his physique and he doesn't even look like he works out a lot and I know for sure the only reason he's here is because he was following me.

He's here to cause trouble.

I fold my arms across my chest and lean back on the wall, raising my brows at him and his body guard because they're standing in my way and all the anger I was trying to get rid of by working out has only been magnified and now I can't think of anything else but seeing the two men in front of me dead.

"Come on Dante. Aren't you going to tell me good morning?" Adrian asks me with a coy smirk playing on his face.

"What do you want Adrian?" I ask him with a smile. But the smile doesn't reach my eyes. I lick my teeth in annoyance and walk closer to him but his body guard immediately steps froward. I eye the big man standing in front of me. He's way muscular than I am and almost my height but I will kill him just as easily as I've ever killed anyone else.

Adrian laughs and waves his hand in the air. "Relax boys." He turns his gaze towards me.

"Xavier here tells me you saw him while you and Adeline were at the zoo the other day." Adrian states referring to his bodyguard and I have this urge to believe he's a complete and total idiot.

"Yeah, how about you tell your body guard here to keep his nose out of things that don't concern him. Why are you having me followed Adrian?" I ask him, the smile completely disappearing from my face and all that's left is a death stare.

"How about you give me what I want?" Adrian says, the smile he has on his face getting only wider and my anger issues are screaming at me right now.

"I don't have time for this. Just keep your eyes and hands out of my shit." I say to him and try to walk off but his body guard blocks my path and I fight the urge to roll my eyes.

"Xavier loves a good fight you know." Adrian starts talking again. "He's a beast this one and all I have to do is snap my fingers and he'll take you down without blinking."

He's not even trying to hide it anymore. He's blatantly making it crystal clear to me that he wants me, gone. Well, the feeling is mutual.

"Do you always let other people do your dirty work for you?" I say walking even closer to him. "I know you sent people to my house to kill me, Adrian. That didn't work out pretty well for you, did it?"

His eyes widen a tad bit but he quickly covers it up with a small smile.

"I take it you're not an easy man to get rid of Dante. That much I'm sure of. But if I really wanted you dead, you'd be dead already." He says and I fight the urge to burst out laughing because who doesn't he even think he's talking to. I could give him a hundred years and there's still no way someone as foolish as him would take me down.

If you want to kill a person, you don't waste your time giving them empty threats. You analyze them from the shadows and end them when you get the chance. Maybe his methods have been effective for other people but if he's this confident about threatening me, then that makes me believe he knows absolutely nothing about who I am and that makes me happy in a way.

He's frustrated because he has no information about me whatsoever.

"We can be friends Dante. I just want Adeline and I'll be out of your hair." My blood boils from the mention of Adeline's name from his tongue.

He shouldn't be talking about her. He shouldn't even be thinking about her. He shouldn't even breathe next to her. All I can think about in this moment is how much I want to accelerate my plans against Adrian Wellington and get rid of him before he does some real damage.

Both him and his bodyguard need to be put down and the more time I waste, the more time he has to do something stupid.

"You've broken into my house." I start talking with a deep and menacing voice. "You've stalked Adeline. You've threatened her. You've threatened me." A small smile starts playing on my face.

"You just made an enemy out of me Adrian Wellington and trust me, you do not want to be the name on the top of my list of people I hate."

I say definitively and finally push past him and his bodyguard. I grab my things and walk out of the gym with a satisfied look on my face because the last thing I saw on Adrian Wellington's face, was fear.
