After this incident, the war between the two races came to a final stop, with neither party of the two able to gain much of an advantage over the other, lives lost in the war were too many to be counted, most resource points of the two races were damaged, the fighting had continued for so long that some of the people fighting in both sides forgot for what reason this war began to start with .
Normally, after the war ended compensations were sent to those who deserved it, but not this time, this war exhausted the two races resources to the point that they will need quite a long time before they recuperate from their losses .
So there were no compensation for those who wholeheartedly supported any of the two fighting parties, no matter whose side they bet on, their investment is bound to be unrewarding, but one thing shocked the entire world happened just days after the war came to an end .
The Monster Emperor received the head of his son, the Black Dragon who was being used as a mount by the Bloodlords, he wasted not even a second and directly went to the closest stronghold of the Bloodlord race and massacred all of those who were there, risking the outbreak of another war, but other than a few skirmishes between the two races, no one was willing to start another war .
My father after his devastating loss went into retreat, but even after he came out of the retreat, he appeared to have lost much of his fighting spirit, he was able to regain a little bit of it over time, but he was no longer the same person after that fight, his state of mind also affected his training speed, but luckily advancing to the level after the Ruler was unrelated to how fast was someone able to refine Mana, but unfortunately the blow that my father suffered will never allow him to become an Emperor .
If it was up to the Demon Emperor he would have wiped us out as he did with those who stood against him, but due to our close relationship with the Spirit Race, he was forced to let bygones be bygones, even if he was unwilling to do so .
After the coronation of the Demon Emperor and the birth of his son Blazan, he began to reform and shape the Demon society as he liked, the Great Council remained, but instead of all the Demon families having the right to have a say on any matter revolving around the Demon race, the numbers of those who were able to that in the council was reduced to 9 excluding the new founded family of the Demon Emperor .
The Demon Emperor was a title he acquired after becoming an Emperor, but the real name of the Demon Emperor was unknown since he appeared and become a prominent figure in the race, cases like the lack of names wasn't rare on our demon race, unlike humans we knew of their impotanc, but mostly we don't care, we have our own means to identify each other .
Anyway the other 9 seats at the council was to be distributed under the first law of the Demon race, meaning that more than a hundred families will have to fought among themselves for a seat in the new council, the way of choosing who will be in the council was easy but also bloody .
Those who wants to be the ones to get the seat can claim it for themselves in a quite easy manner, but keeping that seat was a whole different matter .
The families were unaware of this being another plot of the Demon Emperor to make them fight among themselves and weaken them even more, or maybe they know but they had no other choice available on the matter, those seats presented an innovation but also an opportunity to rise above all the other families, success meant bringing glory to their family for how many years to come, but this was all under the premise of them being able to maintain their claim on that seat .
If a family claimed a seat successfully, they would be forced to accept all the challenges attempt for that seat they wanted to claim, the name of the new council was Butchers Hall, a quite fitted name for the new council .
It also implied the things that the challenger will need to do to acquire the qualification to claim a seat and once he claim his seat, the massacre will continue until there were no more people challenging the person who claimed that seat, this event was called The Festival Of Natural Selection .
Its duration was 2 months or as long as it took to fill the 9 council seats, after either the 2 months passing or the 9 council seats got determined early on, the festival will be concluded early, but all those who have acquired the seats must be aware of their seats having a duration too, that duration was 10 years, all of the whole thing was predetermined by the Demon Emperor and no one dared to try and object to him, that was how things came to be like the current .
But that didn't mean that now after more than 8 years nothing had changed to the competition, no a lot of things had changed, for example the duration of the seats chosen this time will be 100 years .
And due to the fact that the last Festival ended up being a huge disaster due to the number of Rulers who was competing for more than one seat, most of them were old demons who have lived for centuries and even millennials, a new rule was created to put a stop to the huge amount of bloodshed of young blood .
The new rule stated that only those under the age of 100 years are eligible to join the festival, forcing all the older demons to focus more on nurturing the young ones for the upcoming Festival .
My father acquired a seat without much of a bloodshed, due to giving a quite handsome amount of money, those who didn't agree with his actions were convinced by his strength and mostly were deterred by the spirit race backing us, so we were able to secure a seat in the council without much of a problem, unlike the other families, who were forced to indulge in almost unending bloodshed .
The losses and casualties that the demon race suffered from due to the Festival were devastating to say the least, the amount of casualties were even more than the combined casualties of the war between the Monster race and the Bloodlord race, even though the later lasted longer than two months .
The Demon Emperor was influenced by the humans civilization on this land and began to try and shape the beginning to grow demon society to be very similar to what he had in mind .
Then the journal of The Great Demon appeared soon after, telling about the impressive feat he achieved and he even used magic to print it and make a huge amounts of copies and distributed it to every household .
Schools were built and market district soon followed, new institutions that made the lives of the demons a lot more easier .
Everything was going good, but in the council my dad kept on bringing the fact that the Demon Emperor haven't got any news about how the settlement plan was going and for quite long time too, a lot of young demons were also sent through the portal, but were never heard of again .
This new turn of events forced the Demon Emperor to take a few more drastic measures as he too was beginning to have some doubts about how was the plan going, but he deemed that the step he need to take will need a few more years to be ready .
A few years later, the time to send a new batch of demons to this land came and this time the amount of people that were decided to go this time was 4 people, two were already decided and the other two was a young boy and a little girl, the brother and sister were the children of the Demon Emperor, the increased number of people came at a cost and a huge one too .
The Hero son was sacrificed to send that last batch of demons to the other side, a huge gamble where the demon race was either going to win it all or lose even the way to continue going forward, the two guys were brilliant from birth and they were told what to exactly do and what to say to Devo on the other side and what to keep for themselves, after that they came to this land, joined the ranks of the demons fighting against the new Beastfolk race, who was giving the monster Devo quite the trouble .
Normally it should have been impossible to allow two person with amount of blood from the hero son, even if they were to squeeze him dry, but due to the fact that the demon emperor children were some sort of a hybrid demons and they were born with green source energy to began with, something that no one other than the demon emperor was aware of, the two guys were able to pass without no much of a problem, the reson why the pair was sent even at such a young age was due to the tight time and the special talents that both of those guys had .
The Demon Emperor child Blazan conveyed the new orders that were given to Devo by his father to start painting the whole land red, even though he didn't understand the logic behind it at this point of time, he still did as he was told, the Shard seeing that the time was ripe and wary of the sudden increased assault, began to make the preparation needed for the next coming cycle .
The demon king soon appeared and Blazan following the footsteps of his father went and joined the ranks of the demon king, then the Shard's chosen one was giving enough green energy, what we get accustomed to call Source Energy, it gave the one it chose all that he needed to began with the summoning ritual of heroes .
This time the ritual after using a quite huge amount of Source Energy it summoned 10 heroes to this land but the kingdom that chosen one in this cycle was from, went against the Shard's wishes and asked the 10 summoned heroes to protect the country and not endangering themselves by going after the demon king of this cycle that was creating more havoc than ever before or at least that what everyone was made to think .
The summoned heroes weren't conceited by just doing such a work and they tried to raid the demon king lair, resulting in one of them falling into the hands of Devo and Blazan, they already have dealt with the demon king of this cycle, they hadn't killed him or anything but they incapacitated him and with a bit of disguise, Devo was still continuing to act as the demon king .
Anyway, they were finally able to catch a hero much to their joy and dismay in the same time, the reason for their dismay was because they ended in blowing the hero they were lucky to catch up, another problem that wasn't expected appeared the moment they tried to enslave the hero he blew himself up or as was blown up by someone or something, yea both of the Monster and Demon concluded that whatever that forced the hero to die like this, most likely to be the work of the Shard .
The other 9 heroes who managed to escape and who returned to the kingdom were also plotted against by the king of the kingdom after they disregarded his plead to not go out of the kingdom and seek death, but as a revenge to destroying their plot, the demons went on and massacred the entire kingdom, in doing so, they unknowingly created another chance for themselves, as the Shard once more and without a delay picked another chosen one and tasked him to summoned the heroes once more, due to it still being able to sense that the demon king was still alive, which might bring some problems with this cycle like how it did to the one before, but the kingdom where the chosen one was picked from this time, didn't agree to do the summoning ritual .
After all they were quite far from the area under the demon king influence and didn't suffer much loss from the havoc he was creating, the king of that kingdom his name was Lotor, he was quite the pacifist, so if the cycle was to start, the first person they will need to deal with was him, the one stopping the ritual, i didn't know much about the insides of this matter, but all i knew that the kingdom had changed its king not soon after, then the cycle once again began .
But this time things were a little bit different, Blazan and Devo came to understand that they didn't need to control the heroes directly, but they can control the people who are able to control the heroes, that king actions were what cleared their mind, they no longer focused on capturing the heroes by themselves, they will instead control the kingdom which those heroes will belong to .
The kingdom of Troland was the name of the new kingdom and coincidentally i heard that the chosen one was also the princess of that kingdom, finally founding a use for the noble houses under Devo command and when the time was right, they dethroned the current king and bought the Nobles and waited for a few more years before the princess finally told them how to do the rituals .
Another 10 guys were summoned, but this time Blazan and his sister already had the king and the crown prince wrapped around their fingers, using enslavement on the newly summoned heroes but this time the one doing the enslavement was the crown prince who was also enslaved by the demons, using the new technique given by the Demon Emperor, they collected the energy of 6 of the said heroes more efficiently and left the remaining 4 under the suggestion of Blazan the new demon king and the approval of the demon emperor .
The reason to why did they do so as per to the demon emperor words was because they wanted to keep them as a precaution and also to keep the new summoned heroes later on under check, due to others like them was living her and such, then the demons used the source energy to get reinforcement from both the demons and monsters in batches, then they were able to triumph over the Beastfolk and later the kingdom of Diblosia was founded, the stronghold of us demons .
After that with making use of the huge amount of bloodshed on this land from that point forward, both the Demon race and the Monster race finished their preparations and began heading towards their own final goal, initially the demons should have already achieved their goals, but due to the influence of the Great Emperor Of monsters, we were now tasked with searching for any clues related to the Shard for some unknown reason .
That was all that happened in the last 50 years, at least to my knowledge, our family have never encouraged the settling in this land, we were just following the order agreed upon by the majority of our Demon race .
