Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Hunt Begins

The ship's doors slid open with a hiss, and all four streamers—Zane, Brogan, Luna, and Vexxie—stepped cautiously onto the factory floor. This time, the Twitch chat was back on, flooding their streams with messages and warnings, injecting a new layer of pressure into the already tense atmosphere.

[TwitchChat]

"No idea what this thing is but it's freaking terrifying!"

"The sound design in this game is next level."

"The atmosphere is insane, I'm actually scared for them."

"Whoever made this deserves all the praise!"

"Downloading this right now, this looks insane."

They moved as a group, flashlights slicing through the dark and dusty corridors. The factory, though eerily quiet at first, soon came alive with the telltale clicking of small, insect-like creatures darting across the floor and around piles of scrap.

"Alright, let's grab scrap and get out quick," Brogan whispered.

Zane spotted a cluster of shiny scrap next to a broken conveyor belt and stepped forward. As his hand reached out, the creatures scattered suddenly, their clicking intensifying into frantic, angry chatter.

"Uh… guys?" Zane's voice cracked as he turned around to face the approaching swarm. "They're coming at me!"

Brogan rushed over to help but found himself surrounded almost instantly. The bugs crawled over his boots, biting and clawing without mercy.

"Get off me! Get them off!" Brogan shouted, swinging his flashlight wildly.

Zane screamed as a sharp sting bit into his ankle.

"Bro, help!" Zane yelled, but the swarm was too many.

Suddenly, Zane's screen went black with the words:

[ZaneZero has died.]

Brogan struggled for a few more seconds but was overwhelmed too.

[Brogan has died.]

Their cameras switched to spectator mode, giving them an aerial view of the factory floor. They could see Luna and Vexxie cautiously moving away from the swarm's chaos.

[TwitchChat]

"Nooo! They're down already?"

"This game is brutal, can't believe how real this feels."

"I'm both scared and hooked. The tension is crazy."

"The creator is a genius, this game is something else."

"Just started downloading, can't wait to try!"

Zane's voice came through the discord comms(Because dead people cant talk ingame) , shaky but trying to stay calm. "Alright, girls, be careful. Those things don't mess around."

Brogan added, "Watch each other's backs. There's something else out there, too."

Luna swallowed hard, gripping her flashlight tighter. "Let's stick together and move slow."

Vexxie nodded. "We have to finish this. We can't let those things win."

The girls moved forward, the tension thick in the stale air. Every shadow seemed alive, every corner a potential death trap.

Zane and Brogan hovered above, watching intently. The factory's rusted pipes and broken machinery created a maze of hiding places.

Suddenly, at the far end of the hall, a tall, pale figure appeared—moving slowly, almost stalking. It never charged, never rushed—just followed, steady and silent, a breath behind its prey.

Zane's voice was barely a whisper: "It's right behind you. Don't turn around."

Brogan's breath caught. "This is terrifying. Just watching makes my skin crawl."

Luna and Vexxie pressed forward, hearts pounding. The scrap piles grew, and so did their load, but the oppressive feeling of being hunted weighed on them.

Suddenly, Luna stopped dead.

"Luna?" Vexxie asked, confused.

Before Vexxie could react, the figure was upon Luna with shocking speed. It grabbed her, twisting her neck in a brutal snap, dragging her away into the shadows.

[LunaByte has died.]

Vexxie spun around, eyes wide, breathing ragged. She shined her flashlight into the darkness—Luna was gone.

"No…" Vexxie whispered, her voice breaking.

The Twitch chat exploded:

[TwitchChat]"No way! Luna's gone already?!""This game is savage. I'm on the edge of my seat.""Vexxie's all alone now—can she survive?""The tension in this game is unreal.""This is what gaming should feel like!"

Terror and hopelessness hit Vexxie like a wave. She backed up, heart racing. Ahead, a narrow bridge spanned a deep pit, the metal railing thin and cold.

Vexxie hesitated, tears streaming. She knew whatever that thing was, it was still close—still stalking her like a shadow.

With no allies left, no backup, and the chilling knowledge that she was hopelessly outmatched, Vexxie climbed the railing, her breath shaking.

The chat went silent for a moment, then:

[TwitchChat]"No, Vexxie, don't!""Please don't do it.""Nooooooo!!!"

With a final, trembling breath, Vexxie jumped.

[Vexxie has died.]

The screen faded to black.

[All Players Deceased.][Mission Failed.][Spectator Mode Enabled.]

Zane exhaled, voice low but steady. "That was… something else."

Brogan nodded, quieter than usual. "We have to be smarter next time."

For a moment, only the factory's eerie silence answered.

Then the plan began forming—because this nightmare was far from over.
