Chapter 1 - Birth of First Devine Constellation : Karna

In the ancient kingdom of the Yadavas, young Princess Kunti was known for her kindness and devotion. One day, as the golden sun bathed the palace in gentle light, a wandering sage passed through the royal gates. He was weary from his travels, and Kunti, ever humble, welcomed him with open arms. She served him with great care, her heart pure and sincere.

Pleased by her service, the sage smiled warmly and spoke in a voice filled with divine grace.

Sage: "Thank you, princess, for your hospitality and devotion. You have pleased me greatly. As a token of my gratitude, I shall give you a powerful mantra. With this mantra, you can summon the children of divine constellations, beings born of the gods themselves."

And with that, he uttered the sacred words of the mantra. Then, without another word, he departed, leaving Kunti alone with her thoughts, the echo of his voice lingering in the quiet halls.

But Kunti's heart was restless. "Could this mantra truly work? Or was it just the old sage's trick?" she wondered, curiosity burning within her. Unable to resist the temptation, she decided to test it.

Beneath the golden light of dawn, where the first rays kissed the earth, she stood alone. Closing her eyes, calming her heart, she began chanting the divine mantra:

"Oh Divine One, who I call, appear before me."

She called upon Surya, the mighty Sun God. The skies shimmered, the winds stilled, and suddenly, in a blaze of radiant light, Surya himself appeared before her, his form majestic and powerful.

With a gentle smile, Surya spoke, his voice like the warmth of the morning sun.

Surya: "Kunti, your call has reached me. Ask what you desire."

Fear struck Kunti's heart. She trembled, folding her hands respectfully.

Kunti (nervously): "Lord, I merely wished to test the mantra. I am unmarried... Please forgive me. I had no other wish."

But fate could not be undone. Surya looked upon her with kindness and said,

Surya: "Fear not, child. Your purity shall remain untouched, and your honor will be preserved. But destiny has chosen to bless you. A son shall be born to you, shining like the sun itself."

And thus, Karna was born. Golden as the morning rays, wearing divine armor and earrings from birth—gifts from Surya—his body radiated a heavenly glow.

Then, as suddenly as he came, Surya disappeared into the skies, leaving Kunti alone, cradling the newborn child.

Fear and sorrow overwhelmed her young heart. She knew society would not understand. With trembling hands and tearful eyes, she placed the baby gently in a basket. Walking to the quiet riverside, her heart heavy with grief, she whispered prayers for his safety.

With one final look, she released the basket onto the flowing river, trusting the current to carry him to a safer destiny.

The basket drifted downstream until it was found by a humble charioteer named Adhiratha. Along with his wife Radha, they were astonished.

They gazed upon the baby's golden armor and radiant earrings, and Adhiratha whispered in wonder, "Who left this child upon the river? He looks like one born of royal blood..."

Radha, her heart filled with longing and joy, gently cradled the baby.

Radha (smiling softly): "He is my child now. The gods have sent him to us because we had none of our own. From this day forth, I will raise him as my son."

And so, in a humble charioteer's home, the mighty Karna, son of the Sun God, was raised, his true origin hidden from the world.
