Chapter 35 - Chapter 34: Waking Up in Daddy’s Arms

Thaddeus stood still, eyes following the trail of Rassel's car as it disappeared down the road. The quiet night returned, leaving him alone with the boy slouched in the backseat, the same boy who, minutes ago, was rambling nonsense under the influence of too much alcohol.

Kayden was now barely conscious, his head lolling to one side, eyelids fluttering like a child resisting sleep.

Thaddeus turned slightly in his seat and looked back at him, watching the boy drift further into slumber. A soft sigh escaped his lips.

"I would have touched you," he murmured under his breath, brushing a stray curl away from Kayden's forehead, "but seeing you like this… peaceful… asleep, unaware, touching you now would feel like taking advantage.

And we both know we can't share the same room while Rassel is around. She watches everything."

He crouched down, pressing a gentle kiss to Kayden's forehead. "Let's go home."
