Darren changed his clothes, and Kayden did the same. Then both of them headed straight to Thaddeus's house.
From the outside, everything looked normal, quiet, too normal for Kayden's racing heart. He froze, unable to step out of the car. His hands trembled as he imagined the possibilities. What if it's true? What if Thaddeus is with someone else? After all, he's just sleeping with me… we don't even have a title.
He thought of excuses, rehearsing in his head. If I knock, maybe I can say I came to pick something up. Or maybe a textbook… yes, that sounds believable. But every thought sounded weaker the longer he sat there.
Darren glanced at him, patience thinning. "Kayden, what's next? Do you want to go inside and confirm, or do you just want to sit here and cry yourself sick?"
Kayden finally gathered the courage to open the car door, ready to step out and face whatever truth waited for him behind the gate. But before he could move, the front door of Thaddeus's house swung open.
