Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"U.A. High…"

After seeing Yaoyorozu Momo off, Shin went to the computer room and began searching up everything he could find about the academy.

"Games are fun, sure—but real fights are way more exciting."

Once he'd finished reading, Shin submitted his application without hesitation.

He figured it would only be a few days before he received a reply. Then, he could finally take the entrance exam himself.

When everything was done, it was still only nine in the morning.

Because of Momo's unexpected visit, he hadn't been able to go back to sleep.

"…Might as well go for a walk. Who knows what interesting things I'll run into."

Stretching his arms overhead, he pulled on his coat, turned, and stepped out the door.

In this world overflowing with Quirks, there were Pro Heroes—and, naturally, all kinds of criminals.

Today was Monday—the start of the work week. The streets were crowded with people of every age, all rushing to begin their day.

Even though it was nine o'clock, there were still countless office workers and students hurrying along, panic written on their faces as they realized they were running late.

"ROAR!!!"

Suddenly, a beast-like howl split the air.

Shin instinctively turned toward the noise.

There—towering above the crowd—was a massive, upright figure: a wild boar the size of a truck, somehow wearing a shirt and jeans.

"Ahhh!"

Screams erupted, but strangely, very few people ran away. Most only shuffled back a few steps, their expressions more curious than terrified, as if they were waiting for a show to start.

CRACK!

The huge boar swung an arm, snapping a nearby utility pole in half like a toothpick.

The shrieks grew louder.

Police were already arriving, ushering the civilians back, but plenty of bystanders still refused to leave.

"…Huh. I guess my timing was perfect."

Shin's eyes narrowed slightly.

Having watched the anime, he recognized this scene immediately—it was the very start of the series itself.

In midair, the broken utility pole tumbled toward the street below, crackling faintly with electricity.

HOO—

BANG!

Just as it was about to smash into the asphalt, a broad-shouldered man burst forward in a blur of motion.

He caught the enormous pole with his bare hands, shocking everyone around him.

The impact kicked up a blast of air that swept across the street. Even Shin, standing some distance away, felt it ruffle his hair.

"Look—it's Red Fist of Death!"

In the crowd, a few citizens cried out in excitement.

"The Hero who became famous for his incredible strength—oh my god, I can't believe we're seeing him this close!"

WHOOSH—

Before the cheers died down, a surge of water swept out, surrounding the area in a protective circle.

"All right, everyone—step back! Don't get caught in the crossfire!"

The voice came from a man dressed like a firefighter, his face completely covered.

The swirling wall of water poured from his outstretched hands.

"Wow—it's the rescue Hero, Fire Buster!"

The tension melted from the crowd in an instant. People started cheering as if this was an ordinary spectacle.

Shin moved closer, watching calmly.

"…That criminal can transform into something this huge? What a Quirk…"

"Hey, you—what did he do?"

"Robbed a bank," someone nearby replied. "The cops cornered him, so he panicked and went berserk."

"With a Quirk like that…all he did was rob a bank?"

"Hold on a sec, dear—yes, something came up, I'll be there soon, really. Uh-huh…yes, buy it if you want—buy, buy, buy…"

Even with a rampaging boar just meters away, most people had already started gossiping or making phone calls again.

"Look! That's Kamui Woods!"

Someone pointed up, and a cluster of girls squealed, their eyes turning into sparkling hearts.

A brown figure moved fluidly among the buildings.

His limbs transformed into branching wood that shot out and wrapped around the broken pole.

With a leap, he landed squarely on the monster's back.

"…Good mobility," Shin remarked blandly, "but the strength here is pathetic compared to the Naruto world."

He shook his head slightly.

Still…this world would be a decent place to get used to Uchiha Madara's power.

Ahead, Kamui Woods wrestled fiercely with the giant boar.

Just as he was about to deliver the finishing blow, a figure even larger than the monster suddenly burst onto the scene.

One colossal kick sent the wild boar crashing to the ground.

BOOM!!!

The pavement cracked under the impact.

The boar flopped over, foaming at the mouth, its limbs twitching weakly.

Mt. Lady—New Generation Pro Hero.

Kamui Woods froze, his face slack.

…That was supposed to be his win.

His expression looked like he'd swallowed something rotten.

Everything wrapped up quickly after that.

The police moved in to restrain the villain.

The crowd dispersed as if nothing unusual had happened.

People hurried off to work, students raced to school—business as usual.

To them, these incidents were routine, hardly worth a second thought.

Before he'd crossed over, Shin had never even been to Japan.

Though it was all a bit surreal, he decided there was no reason to waste the opportunity.

He spent the afternoon wandering the city.

Most of what he saw was completely new to him, filling him with a quiet sense of curiosity.

"…It's probably time to head back."

He glanced down at the shopping bags he'd collected and nodded in satisfaction.

Turning toward the villa, he started walking.

But he hadn't gone far when, without warning, a green, humanoid slime creature burst from an alley, flailing in a panic.

As it passed, several slimy tendrils shot out—

—and wrapped tightly around Shin's body.
