Chapter 41 - Chapter 42

"OMG!" Present Mic practically fell over the commentary booth, brushing his spiky hair back as he stared in disbelief. "Uchiha Madara from Class 1-A got everyone's headscarf?!"

"He's the most heroic person ever!" Mic gasped again, slumping dramatically against the glass window of the commentator's stand. "And let's not forget—he incapacitated everyone simultaneously. What a feat!"

The entire auditorium burst into chatter.

"What the hell are his Quirks?"

"Maybe he has composite abilities… or something else entirely."

"He's terrifying."

Among the crowd, a sharp-eyed man in a long coat sat with arms crossed. Andre, an influential figure in the hero society, leaned forward with curiosity. "I still don't know what his actual combat ability is," he muttered. His gaze shifted to a still, frustrated Shoto Todoroki. Andre's brow creased.

His son was shaken. Losing in the qualifiers was one thing, but getting completely outplayed in the cavalry battle?

Below, on the field, Yaoyorozu Momo stared at the dazed students around her, eyes wide in disbelief.

"Did you… Hypnotize all of them?" she asked, watching people still frozen in place.

Uchiha Madara offered a proud smirk. "I told you it would end quickly, didn't I?"

"But if you do that, I won't even get a chance to show off," Momo sighed, gesturing to the professional heroes watching in the stands. "I wanted to impress someone too, you know?"

Madara raised an eyebrow. "You? Going pro? I thought you'd inherit the family fortune and retire in style."

"Tch. Mind your own business," she huffed, popping her hands on her hips.

On the referee's platform, Midnight pinched the bridge of her nose.

Technically, Madara hadn't broken any rules—he just ended the battle in record time using his Hypnosis. It was frustrating to officiate something like this, but she couldn't penalize him either.

Ten minutes passed like a whisper. The bell rang.

Just then, Madara calmly released everyone from the illusion.

"Let's go!!!" Kaminari Denki erupted in a battle cry that made half the stadium flinch.

The students all blinked, confused. They had no memory of the last ten minutes.

"Wait—what do you mean the match ended?"

"Wasn't there still time left?"

"Didn't I grab a headscarf?"

Midnight raised her mic, trying to settle the commotion. "The cavalry battle is officially over! Next up, we'll have a one-hour lunch break!"

Students around the field groaned in frustration, some collapsing to their knees. Mineta from Class B cried openly.

"I swear I had a scarf in my hand!" he wailed.

"I remember... red eyes…" Midoriya muttered, rubbing his head. He slowly turned toward Uchiha Madara, who was standing casually with his hands in his pockets.

"I didn't even realize I was in an illusion," Izuku whispered. "His Quirk is dangerous..."

Bakugo growled from the sidelines, visibly seething. "Stupid... eye freak!"

Even Hitoshi Shinso, who had mocked others for being weak, sat completely stunned.

The crowd was in chaos.

Back in the faculty section, the pro heroes and teachers of U.A. were in a huddle.

"Well, this is a mess," Midnight sighed. "All the points are with Madara. That means eleven groups tied for second."

"Playoff rounds?" suggested Yoruichi, arms folded. "I've never seen a case like this in years of teaching."

"He didn't break any rules," Aizawa muttered. "Still… the Quirk record he submitted doesn't match what we just witnessed."

"He probably assumes the school will cover for him," said Snipe.

At last, All Might stood up with authority. "Let's hold extra matches between the second-place teams. Settle who advances through combat."

Everyone nodded.

Midnight stretched, flicked her hair, and said, "Alright then. But first—I'm going to eat."

The players' lounge was spacious, with a massive screen showing the replay of the earlier round.

Yaoyorozu Momo had filled a table with high-calorie snacks: milk tea, biscuits, chocolate, and multiple slices of cream cake.

Her Quirk consumed her fat reserves. This replenishment was necessary.

"Want some?" she asked, pushing a cake in front of Madara.

He shook his head, smiling faintly. "I just ate. Can you finish all that?"

"Half an hour at most," she said between bites.

Cream smeared her chin. Without thinking, Madara reached over and wiped it with his thumb.

"Eat slower," he said. "Nobody's going to steal it."

"You never know," she mumbled around a mouthful of cookie.

Meanwhile, the battle outside resumed with a vengeance. The supplemental teams fought fiercely in the free-for-all style.

Bakugo and Todoroki tore through the competition, leaving trails of fire and ice across the field. Even some pro heroes took notice of the sheer destructive force.

When the bell rang, students collapsed from exhaustion.

"Uchiha Madara, Yaoyorozu Momo!" a staff member called into the lounge. "Please proceed to the arena. Finals will begin shortly!"

The stadium buzzed with renewed energy.

"Everyone!" Present Mic's voice rang out. "Before the final event, we've got good news for the eliminated students!"

"Fun entertainment activities await! And we've even brought in an American cheer squad to hype things up!"

Students in the stands cheered, but those who advanced to the final fourteen weren't as excited.

"The finals will be a one-on-one knockout format!" Mic continued. "Defeat your opponent by forcing them out of bounds, rendering them immobile, or making them submit!"

"Remember! The school nurse is on standby for emergencies—but anyone endangering a life will be disqualified immediately!"

Uchiha Madara frowned slightly.

No killing. No maiming. No fun.

"This hero business is restrictive..." he muttered.

The brackets were quickly filled through a random draw.

Among the finalists: Madara, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki, Midoriya, Bakugo, Shinso, and others.

Madara's first opponent: Kirishima Eijiro.

Present Mic cheered, "Let's begin with our first round—Hero Course's Izuku Midoriya vs. General Course's Hitoshi Shinso!"

Shinso's brainwashing worked… for a moment. But through sheer mental will—and a mysterious glimpse into One For All's past—Midoriya broke free and took the win.

Next, Todoroki vs. Ashido.

Todoroki unleashed an avalanche of ice so mercilessly that even the teachers shifted in their seats.

Sero Hanta shivered. "That was… overkill."

"Not very gentlemanly," Momo huffed beside Madara.

"He's never getting a girlfriend like that," Iida added, adjusting his glasses with a sigh.

Then came the match everyone waited for.

"Uchiha Madara vs. Kirishima Eijiro!"

Madara stood, brushing nonexistent dust off his cloak.

"Go get 'em!" Momo called with a raised fist.

Madara nodded slightly and walked onto the field.

Present Mic's voice echoed across the arena: "First in every category so far, but can Uchiha Madara carry that momentum into real combat?!"

On the battlefield, Kirishima gave a nervous chuckle. "You're not going to hypnotize me right away, are you?"

Madara blinked. "Nah. That'd be boring."

"Thank god..."

"If I did, you'd be out in three seconds. What fun is that?"

"Gee, thanks," Kirishima muttered.

Positions set! Match start!"

Kirishima activated his Hardening Quirk and charged forward. "Let's see how you handle close combat!"

He expected Madara to dodge or retreat, but instead, Madara smiled.

And then vanished.

With a boom, Kirishima was sent flying across the field, skidding like a stone on water before stopping inches from the edge.

"What just… happened…?" he wheezed.

He hadn't even seen the punch.

From the stands, All Might stood up sharply. Even he hadn't caught the motion.

Madara cracked his knuckles and exhaled through his nose.

"Next."
