Chapter 2 - New life

One week later

'I've already adapted to this new life,' Ángel thought as he gazed out the hospital window. The spring breeze caressed his face, carrying with it the distant murmur of the city.

The soft rays of sunlight bathed the room, reflecting off the white curtains that swayed gently. The sterile scent of the hospital mixed with the subtle perfume of the flowers adorning his nightstand—white lilies, his favorite… though he hadn't known that before.

'The parents of this body are truly kind and attentive,' he reflected, feeling a warm pang in his chest.

Luna, his mother—an Omega with elegant poise and endless sweetness—entered carrying a tray in her hands.

"Let me feed you, darling," she said with a motherly smile overflowing with tenderness.

'I used to be an orphan… that's why I never received this kind of love,' Ángel thought, swallowing hard as he allowed himself to be pampered.

"Say aaah~" Luna sing-songed cheerfully.

"Aaah," he obeyed with a small smile.

Luna fed him gently, wiping his lips with a napkin as if he were still a small child.

"Thank God you woke up. I still thank Him every day for bringing you back to us," she whispered, unable to hide the emotion in her voice.

'This boy… was in a coma for four months,' Ángel thought, looking at Luna with a tight knot in his chest. 'But unfortunately, he died… and I took his place. Don't worry, Ángel, I'll take care of your family. Thank you… for letting me feel this warmth.'

A tall masculine figure appeared at the doorway. His presence was commanding, and his eyes radiated authority.

"Oh, you're here, dear," Luna said, relieved.

"Yes, I came during my shift," replied Enzo Fridd, his father—a dominant Alpha with a deep voice and calm gaze.

"How's my prince doing?" he asked as he approached.

"I'm fine, Dad. Thank you for taking care of me," Ángel responded sincerely.

Enzo looked at him, surprised—almost moved.

"He's changed completely…" Enzo thought. "He used to have such a bad temper and was so spoiled… It seems my son has matured." He smiled slightly, proud.

"Mm, I've checked everything, and it's all looking good," he commented as he took a seat.

The television, left on in the background, suddenly caught everyone's attention.

TV: { Breaking news. }

Ángel turned his face toward the screen.

TV: { The date for the wedding has finally been set… }

"What engagement are they talking about?" Ángel murmured as he reached for a glass of water.

TV: { "Yes, we're talking about the much-anticipated union between María Fer and CEO Ren Petrov." }

Ángel's eyes widened. The water went down the wrong way.

"Cough, cough!"

"Are you okay, son?" Luna asked, alarmed.

"Y-yeah… I'm fine," he said, trying to regain his composure.

"María Fer and Ren Petrov…? Wait a minute! Aren't they characters from a novel I used to read?" he thought, stunned.

"No! It can't be. I need to find out more," he panicked internally.

"Well, it's getting late," Luna said sweetly, standing up. "I'll come back tomorrow, son. Your father will stay with you. Don't worry."

"Alright," Ángel replied gratefully.

Two hours later…

'According to what I found out from the nurse… it really seems like I'm inside that novel,' Ángel thought, a mix of shock and fear in his chest. 'And not just any novel! It was one for people over 21.'

He remembered the plot clearly: a classic Cinderella story filled with drama, romance, and wild passion. Evil stepmother, annoying stepsisters… and a cold, possessive male lead.

'Well, the plot wasn't all that interesting, but the sex scenes were a 10/10,' he thought with a pervy grin, before faking a cough in embarrassment. 'Ugh! Now I sound like a pervert!'

Suddenly, a wave of relief washed over him.

'Thank goodness I woke up when the novel is near its end… But the sad part is I'm not even a side character… I don't show up at all!' he lamented dramatically in his mind. 'I'm just a poor, irrelevant background character.' Cries dramatically.

"Well… whatever. At least the story won't change because of me, and I can enjoy this life in peace." Smiles brightly.

Three months later…

"Doctor Ángel!" a nurse cried, rushing down the hallway. "T-the patient is in critical condition!"

"Prep the OR. We're operating now," Ángel ordered, his voice cold and firm. His presence was commanding—like a true high-ranking Omega.

"Y-yes, sir!" the nurse replied, flustered.

"He's in cold mode! God, help me!" she thought nervously.

Hours later…

Ángel stepped out of the operating room. His hair was tousled, and his face was glistening with sweat.

"The patient is safe. There's no need to worry," he said with a calm smile to the woman in front of him.

"T-thank you for saving my son, doctor!" the woman sobbed, her eyes red and swollen.

"I'm just doing my job," he replied warmly.

In a corner of the hospital…

"He's changed so much since he came out of the coma," whispered one nurse.

"He used to be almost useless. Now the doctors say he's a genius," added another.

"Even better than his father," said a third.

"And he's so handsome!" sighed another. "After all, his mother was a top model."

Enzo, who had overheard everything, suddenly appeared with a stern expression.

"Seems like some people have way too much time on their hands to gossip," he said coldly.

The nurses instantly turned pale.

"Dad," Ángel said, walking up to him.

Enzo's expression softened into a smile.

"Finished the operation?"

"Yes." He replied with pride.

'Well… they're not wrong. My son… truly is a genius,' Enzo thought proudly. 'After all… he's my son.'

"Come on, Dad. I'm hungry."

"Yes, let's go," he smiled.

In just three months, the entire country was talking about the young genius doctor.

His renewed behavior and flawless efficiency impressed even the most experienced professionals.

Senior doctors began to treat him with respect. A few jealous ones tried to humiliate him, but Ángel, unfazed, saw it as just another test from fate.

He endured sleepless nights, took on impossible cases, and slowly became a figure admired by many.

An Omega who stood out above all others…
