Chapter 44 - **Chapter 44: The Green Guardians**

After leaving the doctor's house, Samuel decided to stay five more days in Harama to give Canon enough time to properly recover. Despite the recent events, the village was unusually calm, almost peaceful. While Kai and Helydia spent their time at the tavern, Samuel remained sober, his mind occupied by a persistent thought.

On the third day, after a short visit to Canon, he left the room without his companions and headed to the medical clinic.

He entered without knocking. The doctor, bent over his instruments, looked up, slightly surprised.

"Hey, doc, can I have a moment of your time?" Samuel asked calmly.

The doctor nodded and invited him into his office—a modest but functional room filled with vials, hanging herbs, and scattered papers.

Samuel placed a jar on the table. Inside, several green slimes shifted gently, almost peacefully.

The doctor approached cautiously, furrowing his brow—then his eyes widened.

"By the gods... Are these healing slimes?"

Samuel gave a small nod. "We used them to heal after a fight. I want to know if that was dangerous."

The doctor sat down slowly, as if afraid the jar might vanish before his eyes.

"You did well to come. I've only ever heard of them in old texts or exaggerated tales from travelers. These creatures can heal wounds by 96%, far beyond the usual market potions, which top out at 67%."

He pulled out a magnifying lens to inspect one of the slimes more closely.

"And what's more… they're practically infinite. If you cut one in half, it splits into two slimes with equal healing capability. The only way to destroy them is with fire."

He looked up at Samuel, his gaze suddenly much more serious.

"What you're holding isn't just a tool for healing—it's a blessing… or a curse, depending on whose hands it falls into. You must be extremely careful. A power like this could disrupt the balance of any town."

Samuel remained silent for a moment, processing the information.

"Could it heal Canon?"

The doctor slowly nodded. "Without a doubt. I could do it right away, if you allow it."

Samuel stood up, closing the lid of the jar.

"Do it. But don't say a word to anyone."

The doctor nodded, recognizing the firmness in Samuel's tone. Samuel left the office, his eyes turning toward the orange horizon where the sun was slowly disappearing. Part of the mystery had been solved— and a new asset had just revealed itself.
