Chapter 18 - Chapter 12.1: Intwrlude of Augustus Nameless

Augustus POV:

Samael and I were walking to the Ascension Pedestals. We were finally ready to break through to the next Realm. I couldn't wait to continue my path. Now that I had unlocked my bloodline I felt stronger than ever. In our last spar I even tied with Mael. It felt incredible, like I had finally caught up to him. I worked so hard to finally overtake him after all this time after all. A short while later we were finally at the Ascension Pedestals. The two of us watched the others who were also breaking through today perform their ascension. Hours passed and it was finally our turn, I would get to show off my talent infront of Samael, but then, Samael started his breakthrough. From the beginning it was evident something was wrong. The soul pressure Samael was eminating was nothing like what he normally produced. It was far more potent, pushing all of our peers into the ground like nothing. Even I felt the weight. I was barely able to get of the pedestal in time before the first bolt of Heavenly Lightning struck him. It was crimson. I stared in shock as another bolt struck, this one even more powerful than the last.

Its power was terrifying. It struck Samael, pushing him into the pedestal. The lightning bolts kept striking, their crimson red color a clear view into the terrifying power they held. Within minutes the bolts were striking hundreds of times every second. As I looked on, I felt anxious, worried and fearful of losing my best friend, but even deeper down, I recognized the fact that Samael had been holding back most of his power during all of their spars. In spite of saying so, Samael had never actually gone all out against him. A tinge of jealousy struck Augustus in the heart. It was a stark contrast to what he normally felt. That jealousy lingered as Samael's battle for his life continued. His body became more and more damaged, and it was evident that his body was close to giving out from the punishment. If he passed out now, there would be no saving him. He'd die. The Elders began evacuating all the Chaos Acceptance Realm and Chaos Core Realm cultivators further away, as the Heavenly Lightning striking Samael would kill them in an instant. Augustus was guided along with the other youths to a safe area about 30 miles away from the pedestals. Even the Elders, most of who were in the 14 Tier or Higher, felt afraid of protecting someone who even the Heavens were trying to eliminate.

"What kind of past does that young man have for the very Heavens to be this angered. He can't stay here or the providence of the Voidstar Clan will surely be affected." One of the Elder said. "But he is protected by Lord Emmanuel and Lady Sarah. Will you take their wrath once they return home and find that the boy they tasked us with protecting was banished to the Outer Realms beyond Voidstar territory?" Another Elder responded, clearly angered by the suggestion. I felt scared at the thought of the Elders taking action against Samael. They were clearly no longer on our side, and to protect ourselves we'd need to keep away from them until Sarah would come back. The hours passed at a snails pace, but eventually the lightning stopped striking. "He's alive." One of the Elders said, the frown on his face growing. I saw the Elder pull his fingers through his long white beard as he appeared to think of what to do next. All of us slowly approached the crater where the Ascension Pedestals had once been. In the center Samael sat, his skin charred beyond recognition, all the hair on his body gone. He just sat there, completely still, barely moving, even to breathe. Then a cascade of light poured down on him as his True Name was announced. However, as the regal voice of the Heavens spoke, it was suddenly interrupted. An ethereal voice, soft like rustling leaves, yet carrying an immense power behind them spoke; "Damn Heaven Keepers and their politics." Confusion spread amongst everyone there. Who are the Heaven Keepers and why are they involved in the Heavenly punishment of Samael, I thought. It was strange. Those were the only words that the woman's voice spoke. It became deathly silent across the devastated area as Samael recovered. Somehow through all of this, Same had started cultivating. It was not normal. The pain he could be feeling from having his body destroyed by Hevaebly Lightning alone should stop any kind of energy manipulation, let alone the fact that he's receiving the Enlightenment of Heaven at the same time.

I continued to stare in shock as he pulled out a notebook, which somehow remained untouched by the lightning strikes and started writing down something. I start walking towards him, but am quickly stopped by the Elder closest to me. "Do not approach him now, he is still in an enlightened state. If you were to interrupt him now he'd never forgive you. As much as I'd want him to be sabotaged, my conscience cannot allow you to accidentally sabotage one of your peers like that. Especially someone so talented." Samael finished writing in his notebook and closed his eyes once more. The amount of True Qi he was dragging into himself was insane. It was like someone in Tier 2 or higher was cultivating, and not a newly ascended Tier 1. I could tell he was growing faster at absorbing the True Qi by the second. Though I did not know the level of his cultivation technique, it would surely have to be an extremely high level one. As I though back to one of the many lessons we'd had together since we came here, I remembered the different levels of cultivation techniques; Low, Medium, High, Peak, Ascendant, Transcentant, Supreme and Absolute. In my mind Samael's new cultivation Technique surely had to be at least Supreme level, if not Absolute.

"We need to leave immediately, come this way children." One of the Elders said. It was the same one that had wanted to eliminate Samael earlier. "We need to head back towards the Voidstar Clan main grounds. Who knows what kind of monstrosities that tribulation might've attracted." Another Elder agreed. Hours later they arrived back at the main grounds of the Voidstar Clan. A sigh of relief escaped the Elders' mouths as they were safe, or so they thought. An aura far beyond what they had ever felt before bore down on the Elders. They fell to the ground within an instant as though they were ants, trying to bear the weight of all reality. The youths of the Voidstar Clan, as well as Augustus looked around in confusion as the aura seemed to avoid them completely. *Who could be so powerful as to subdue the Elders of the main Voidstar Clan in an instant?* In the next second I got my answer. A young looking man was standing in the sky. His long white hair flowing in the strong winds. The young man wore a simple pure white robe, his pale blue skin covered in runic tattoos. He radiated power beyond comprehension, like a sun within the void of space. "Do you know your crimes?" The young man said, outwardly calm, but beneath that calm demeanor was a seething rage that threatened to explode at any moment.
