Chapter 15 - : The Island That Remembers

Chapter 14

One Piece: Legacy of the Pirate King

The ship of Cymos moved not through the sea—but through streams of time.

As it ascended into the sky, Amazon Lily grew smaller below. Luffy stood on the deck, arms crossed, watching the clouds ripple in reverse. Birds flew backward. Stars blinked out of order. The wind no longer blew with consistency—it shimmered like memories unraveling.

Beside him, Lian leaned over the edge, golden eyes wide with wonder.

"Is this… flying?" he asked.

"No," Cymos replied, stepping beside him. "This is drifting between points that never happened."

The child stared in awe. Luffy scratched his head.

"I still don't get it."

"You're not supposed to," Cymos said dryly. "Only those marked by Chrono Haki can anchor themselves here. The rest… go mad."

Luffy grinned. "Good thing I'm used to crazy."

They breached through a ripple in the clouds—and the world changed.

Ecliptoris.

A floating island hovering between eras, surrounded by crumbling fragments of dead timelines. One could see pieces of past worlds suspended in midair—like shattered glass reflecting scenes from forgotten centuries.

A marine fortress from a war that never happened.

A tree that burned in every season at once.

A frozen Sea King locked in a moment of agony, teeth forever bared.

And at the center, a single mountain—The Spiral of Echoes.

There, time breathed.

Luffy and Lian stood at its base, and the instant they stepped onto the stone, their bodies shuddered. The mountain didn't exist in normal reality. It felt like stepping into someone's memory.

"This is where Joy Boy trained," Cymos said quietly. "And where his final failure began."

They spent their first week—years in Ecliptoris—undergoing brutal training.

Lian had to learn to walk without collapsing timelines beneath his feet. His Chrono Haki bent moments even in sleep—he once dreamt of drowning, and the entire camp flooded with phantom waves from another century.

Luffy trained by fighting Time Echoes—projections of his past foes.

Cymos conjured the memories from Luffy's deepest scars:

Katakuri.Doflamingo.Crocodile.Kaido.Akainu.

They all returned—shadows made real by the Spiral's memory. Luffy relived every blow, every loss, every pain. But this time, he fought not to win… but to endure.

Because the final memory was Joy Boy himself.

The original bearer of the Sun God's will.

He smiled sadly at Luffy. "We could never finish what we started."

Luffy stood there, fists trembling, his heart pounding like a drum.

"I will."

Lian's powers began to stabilize.

He could now freeze a single falling leaf in mid-air without affecting the tree. He could rewind a dropped stone to the moment before it fell.

He began to listen to the mountain.

And it whispered.

Late one night, Lian wandered into the Spiral's inner chamber.

There, in a room carved with glowing runes, sat a sealed prison made of obsidian and gold.

A voice echoed from inside.

"I remember you."

Lian stepped closer. "Who… who are you?"

"I am Eidolyn. The Memory of Defeat."

A swirling mass of black and silver mist gathered behind the glass. The face that emerged… was Joy Boy's. But twisted.

"You were the fear Joy Boy sealed away," Lian whispered.

Eidolyn smiled. "And I remember your end."

Suddenly, the glass cracked.

Lian screamed.

Cymos and Luffy arrived seconds later, weapons drawn.

"You weren't supposed to find this yet," Cymos hissed.

The seal pulsed red.

Eidolyn's voice became laughter.

"I have already seen your failure, child of the Pirate King. I am what comes after your fall."

The room trembled.

Later, after the seal was reinforced, Cymos explained everything.

"Eidolyn was created the day Joy Boy lost. His will—his fear—his guilt—formed a separate entity. One that feeds on failure, regret… and future pain."

Luffy clenched his fists.

"He wants my son."

Cymos nodded. "And he will try to twist him. To become what Joy Boy feared."

Robin's words returned to Luffy:

"The Will of L… is the will to choose love over rule."

He turned to Lian. "You still with me?"

The boy's eyes shone bright, fierce.

"Always."

Elsewhere…

Back on the Grand Line, Zoro stood alone on a cliff above the sea. He looked out toward the rising sun, blade resting on his shoulder.

Behind him stood a girl with long dark green hair, her sword drawn.

"You're leaving again," she said.

He nodded.

"To protect what matters."

"Then I'm coming too."

He turned slightly, the wind lifting his bandana.

"You're not ready."

"I don't care."

He smirked.

"…Then keep up."

And high above in the ruins of the moon, deep inside a forgotten lab once used by Enel, a single red light blinked alive.

A voice—mechanical, ancient—spoke:

"Calypso Protocol: Active."

"Awaken Project EIDOLYN."

"Target: Ace D. Lian."

"Time of Convergence: Approaching."
