Chapter 5: The Gathering Storm
Ava's curiosity got the better of her, and she leaned in closer to listen to the group's conversation. They were speaking in hushed tones, but Ava's ears picked up snippets of their discussion.
"...the prophecy is clear," one of them said. "The city is in danger."
Ava's eyes widened as she listened. What prophecy were they talking about? And what kind of danger was the city in?
As she listened, Ava felt a presence behind her. She turned to see the woman who had led her to the hidden city standing behind her, a look of concern on her face.
"Ava, I think it's time we talked," the woman said, her voice low and serious.
Ava nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. What did the woman want to tell her? And what was going on in the city?
The woman led Ava to a quiet room deep in the café, where they sat down at a small table. "Ava, you're not just a curious visitor," the woman said, her eyes locked on Ava's. "You're part of something bigger. Something ancient."
Ava's mind reeled as the woman began to explain. She told Ava about the city's history, about the prophecy that had been spoken of for centuries. And she told Ava that she was the
key to it all.
