I stared at the text message from Caleb Beaumont for a long moment before showing it to Raymond.

"Should I go back?" I asked, unsure what to do given the hostility we'd just faced.

Raymond's expression remained professional. "It's your decision, Mrs. Ricardo. But perhaps Mr. Ricardo should be informed."

I nodded and quickly texted Nathaniel, explaining the situation. His response came almost immediately: "Be careful. Call if you need me."

"Take me back to the hospital, please," I told Raymond.

As we turned around, I mulled over the complicated web of relationships I'd stumbled into. The Beaumonts clearly harbored deep resentment toward the Ricardo family, yet Daphne was asking for me specifically. Something didn't add up.

When we arrived at the hospital, Raymond insisted on accompanying me to Daphne's room. The corridor seemed longer this time, my steps measured and cautious. I knocked on the door, and a woman's voice—not Daphne's—called for me to enter.
