Chapter 64 - The Unexpected Visit

Aahil returned home.

Asma looked at him worriedly and asked, "What did her family say Bhai Jaan?"

Aahil remained silent.

Ahad noticed his expression and asked, "Did they refuse? Should I talk to them?"

Aahil shook his head. "No need, Bhai Jaan. I will handle this."

Asma asked softly, "Did you talk to Prerna?"

Aahil sighed. "I didn't get the chance."

Ahad placed a hand on his shoulder. "First, you need to take some rest. We will talk about this later."

Meanwhile, Prerna was taken to the hospital. She was in the ICU.

Outside the ICU, Aryan stood silently. Devika was crying uncontrollably, while Nandini tried to console her.

"Don't worry, Devika," Nandini said softly. "Nothing will happen to her."

But Devika kept crying.

"Prerna…" she sobbed. "Why is all this happening?"

Suddenly she stopped crying and said in a broken voice, "If something happens to Prerna… I can't live."

Aryan looked at his mother's face.

Devika suddenly stood up and walked toward him.

Before anyone could react—

SLAP!

She slapped Aryan.

Nandini was shocked. "Devika! What are you doing?"

Devika looked at Aryan angrily.

"This happened because of YOU!"

Aryan lowered his head.

Devika continued angrily, "Why don't you think before doing anything, Aryan? What was the need for you to behave like that when Aahil came?"

Aryan remained silent.

Devika's voice trembled with anger and pain.

"If your father were here, he would be ashamed of you."

Aryan suddenly looked up at her.

Nandini watched them silently.

Devika continued, "Your father always cared about his family, no matter how much he suffered. He always protected everyone."

She pointed at Aryan.

"But YOU… you only care about yourself!"

Just then, the doctor came out of the ICU.

Devika quickly turned toward him.

"Doctor!"

The doctor spoke calmly. "The patient lost a lot of blood, but luckily the cut was not very deep. If it had been deeper, even we wouldn't have been able to do anything."

Aryan finally felt a small sense of relief.

The doctor continued, "Right now, a blood transfusion is going on."

Nandini asked, "Doctor, when will she regain consciousness?"

The doctor replied, "We can't say for sure right now. But don't worry… the patient is out of danger."

Devika finally breathed in relief.

Aryan walked away from the ICU corridor, finally feeling a little relieved after hearing the doctor's words.

Coincidentally, Ahad was also at the hospital. He had come there to pay some bills because Aahil had been admitted there earlier.

While walking through the corridor, Ahad suddenly saw Aryan.

He paused and thought, Isn't he Prerna's brother? What is he doing here at the hospital?

After paying the bill, Ahad walked further and suddenly saw Devika sitting outside the ICU.

He frowned slightly.

Isn't she Prerna's mother?

Confused, he immediately called Aahil.

Aahil picked up the call.

"Hello, Bhai Jaan?"

Ahad asked, "Aahil… did something happen to Prerna's family?"

Aahil sounded confused. "What do you mean, Bhai Jaan?"

Ahad replied, "Well, I came to the hospital to pay some bills. But unexpectedly, I saw Prerna's brother and mother here."

Aahil was shocked. "What? But some time earlier I went to their house. Nothing happened there. Bhai Jaan… is Prerna there?"

Ahad said, "No. I saw Aryan a few minutes ago standing outside an ICU, and her mother was sitting beside it."

Aahil said uncertainly, "Bhai Jaan, are you sure you saw Prerna's family? Maybe you are mistaken."

Ahad replied firmly, "No, I'm not mistaken.

When you showed me Prerna's family picture before, I clearly saw her brother and mother. It's definitely them."

Aahil fell silent, thinking.

Ahad then said, "Did something happen to one of their relatives… or is it Prerna?"

Aahil immediately said, "What are you saying, Bhai Jaan?"

Ahad replied, "No, I'm just guessing because I didn't see her."

Aahil said, "Maybe she is at home."

Ahad said calmly, "Don't worry. Let me find out."

He ended the call.

Meanwhile, Aahil started feeling tense.

At the hospital, Ahad approached a nurse.

"Excuse me," he asked politely. "Is there any patient named Prerna Mehra admitted here?"

The nurse checked and replied, "Yes, she was admitted about an hour ago."

Ahad's face turned pale.

"Why was she admitted? She is alright… right?"

The nurse replied gently,

"She attempted suicide. She lost a lot of blood, but she is stable now. However, she is still unconscious."

The nurse looked at him curiously.

"Do you know the patient?"

Ahad nodded quickly.

"Yes."

Without saying anything more, he hurried away from there and immediately called Aahil again.

Aahil quickly answered.

"Bhai Jaan, did you find out?"

Ahad spoke seriously.

"Aahil… Prerna attempted suicide."

Aahil froze in shock.

"What are you saying, Bhai Jaan?!"

Ahad replied, "I asked the nurse. She told me everything."

Aahil's voice trembled. "Bhai Jaan… why would she do something like that? How is she now?"

Ahad said, "She lost a lot of blood and is still unconscious."

Hearing this, Aahil immediately cut the call and rushed to leave.

Asma noticed him and asked worriedly, "Aahil Bhai Jaan, what happened? Why are you in such a hurry?"

Aahil said quickly, "Prerna attempted suicide."

Asma was shocked. "What?! How did that happen?"

Aahil shook his head. "Even I don't know properly. I need to go see her.

After saying "Khuda Hafiz," he hurriedly left.

Meanwhile, Asma raised her hands and prayed softly,

"Ya Allah, please give her shifa (healing)."

Meanwhile, Aanya sat inside the cab and said impatiently,

"When will we reach? Please drive fast."

The driver replied,

"Ma'am, we will reach by 5:30."

Aanya took a deep breath and whispered to herself,

"Everything will be fine, Aanya… you can do it."

At the hospital, Aahil arrived and saw Ahad standing outside.

He quickly rushed toward him.

"Bhai Jaan!"

Ahad gestured toward the ICU and said,

"This way."

As Aahil walked further, he saw Devika and Nandini sitting outside the ICU.

He hurried toward them and said anxiously,

"Aunty!"

Devika and Nandini suddenly looked at him and were shocked to see him there.

Devika's eyes filled with tears.

"Aahil…" she said weakly. "Prerna…"

Aahil immediately asked,

"Aunty, how is she now? Can I see her?"

Nandini replied,

"We can't go inside now."

Aahil nodded and then looked at Devika.

"Aunty… why did she do this?"

Devika wiped her tears and said with a trembling voice,

"After you left, she was very angry about what happened. She went to her room and locked the door… and then this happened."

She broke down crying.

Just then, Aryan arrived.

He stopped the moment he saw Aahil.

Aahil also noticed him and immediately rushed toward him.

Before anyone could react, Aahil grabbed Aryan by the collar.

Nandini gasped in shock.

"Aahil! What are you doing?" Ahad said quickly.

But Aahil looked at Aryan with burning anger.

"What kind of brother are you?!" he shouted.

"You don't even want your sister to be happy! Tell me… this all happened because of you!"

Aryan didn't say anything.

He just stood there silently, listening.

Ahad quickly stepped forward and tried to calm him down.

"Aahil! What are you doing? This is a hospital. There are many people around. Look."

Aahil glanced around and slowly released Aryan's collar.

But his eyes were still filled with anger as he looked at him.

Aryan didn't respond.

Without saying a single word, he simply turned around and walked away.

Devika watched him leave… but she didn't stop him.

Aryan drove back home and walked straight inside. Then he saw Prerna's phone lying on the couch.

He picked it up, and suddenly he remembered the day he had gifted that phone to her on her birthday.

Aryan unlocked the screen, but it asked for a password.

First, he tried Prerna's birthday date.

It didn't unlock.

After a moment of hesitation, he tried his own birthday date.

The phone unlocked.

Aryan froze for a second.

The wallpaper was a photo of Prerna smiling happily.

Tears slowly filled his eyes.

"I'm sorry, Prerna…" he whispered painfully.

"Please forgive me… I never wanted to hurt you."

Tears rolled down his face as he held the phone tightly.

After some time, exhausted from everything that had happened, Aryan slowly fell asleep on the couch.

A few hours later…

A cab stopped in front of the Mehra house.

Aanya quickly stepped out of the cab.

"Please wait for a few minutes," she said to the driver.

The driver shook his head.

"But ma'am, I can't wait like that. You will have to pay waiting charges."

Aanya smiled nervously but excitedly.

"Okay, I will give you extra amount you want? It's just a few minutes. I just need to tell someone my feelings."

She quickly walked toward the door and pressed the doorbell.

Inside the house, the doorbell rang.

Aryan suddenly woke up.

Still half-asleep and drowsy, he walked to the door and opened it.

The moment the door opened, he froze.

Standing right in front of him was Aanya, smiling.

For a second, Aryan felt like he was dreaming.

He just stood there, staring at her.

Aanya noticed his expression and waved her hand slightly in front of his face.

"Mr. Aryan?"

Then she gently touched his arm.

Aryan suddenly came back to his senses.

"Aanya… you?" he said in shock.

"What are you doing here? You should be in Pune, right? What are you doing here in Mumbai? And how did you even come here?" Aryan asked, still shocked.

Aanya suddenly laughed softly.

"Mr. Aryan, will you give me a chance to speak?" she said playfully.

Aryan immediately became silent.

Aanya continued,

"I know you are shocked to see me here now, but I came here to tell you something important."

Aryan looked at her in confusion.

"It's urgent," Aanya added.

Aryan frowned slightly.

"What urgent?"

Aanya looked around the house curiously.

"Mr. Aryan… where is everyone? I'm not able to see anyone. Did everyone go out?"

Aryan looked at her seriously.

"Seriously? Did you come all the way here just to ask this?"

Aanya quickly shook her head.

"No, no… that's not what I meant. Well… can I come inside and tell you?"

Without waiting for his reply, she stepped inside the house.

Inside, she quietly looked around again and thought to herself,

Thank God… no one is here. I can tell Mr. Aryan everything freely before anyone comes.

Suddenly she heard his voice.

"Aanya."

She quickly turned around.

"Yeah?"

The moment she looked at his face, she noticed something unusual.

"Mr. Aryan… why are you looking so dull? Did something happen?" she asked with concern.

Aryan looked at her seriously and said firmly,

"You said you came here to tell me something important. What is it?"
