Chapter 2 - To Turn an Idea into a Curse

With nothing left to comment, or to show I'll keep it quiet.

Not for him… but for you.

As he walked endlessly through that graveyard of crosses, he wandered for what felt like an eternity reaching the end of the chapters, the end of animations, the end of all endings.

Exhausted, he saw his own body reflected in the fabric of reality cast against a distant Eden, untouched by gods, untouched by any of us.

(Coughing, hoarse, weary)

(He collapses… to his knees)

"I'm tired… I can't keep thinking… I'm tired of constantly recognizing… Tired of always feeling…"

With nowhere else to go, he let himself fall into the thousands of books already written.

He kept falling deeper and deeper, almost at the speed of light to a place even animation frames couldn't follow.

While falling, something changed.

As his eyes opened, he found himself wearing a librarian's robes, with a pair of glasses, trembling afraid of something he couldn't yet grasp.

"Where am I? Who am I?" he asked, scattered across the floor, tears falling from his face.

"Where's my book? Where's the information?! That's where everything I knew about this world was kept!"

While frantically searching, something glimmered beneath a shelf of feathers and an inkwell the very book he'd lost.

He grabbed it in disbelief, amazed to have finally found it.

"I found it… it's really here!!" he said joyfully, gently stroking the dust-covered pages strewn around him.

Suddenly, a single page flew loose and landed on his face, bearing the words:

"Oh EddVlass, a long time has been….?!"

"Okay… very strange. Still, I have to write something in the book."

But as he opened it, blood began to pour out fresh blood.

"What the hell is happening?! Where's it coming from? It won't stop!!"

Panic set in; he had no idea what to believe.

(He takes a deep breath. The sound of his heartbeat echoes in the room.)

(Placing his hand on the book, his heart beats faster, fear rising.)

He covers his eyes, then opens them slowly.

"Oh… damn it, nothing. The page is blank. Damn… I scared myself for nothing."

But just then, he watched as something began to form.

Ink started appearing from nowhere lines, strange letters, a signal…

It began with a question mark, and ended with:

"You are who I want you to be."

More and more symbols and messages emerged across the pages.

He could no longer speak, it was as if someone had cut out his tongue.

And then, a final message:

"Mom… I hope you're well. I hope you're… time!!!"

A longing infinite in its depth, addressed to Her.

The room began to sway, to shake.

Books fell.

He floated with them.

Ink flew upward, but remained suspended, unmoving, as if frozen.

A single touch took flight.

Then, from nothing, everything shut down.

Everything turned black.

He passed out.

Nothing remained…

Only a blank page.

(Dust drifting in the air)

(Thunders from the heavens)

(The sound of rain)

(Birdsong)

(And the dew of gods…)
