Chapter 15 - chapter 15

Jessica's heart was pierced by a wooden stake, and she was in excruciating pain. She could also feel her blood vessels bursting inside of her. Jessica's hand was resting on top of the wooden stake while she pondered whether to remove it.

Felix could be seen creeping away from her out of the corner of her eye. The stake sticking out of Jessica's chest captivated his numb attention. Felix's face was gaunt, and he muttered, "Am sorry Daisy," repeatedly. Jessica said, "I don't understand.

Felix did not understand what he was doing either, based on the expression on his face. He sobbed while raising his hands above his head and grabbed handfuls of hair. He spoke incoherently before slipping back into the room's shadows to watch Jessica die.

Jessica leaned back on the bed while holding the wooden stake that was sticking out of her chest. Her wound was bleeding, and the white satin sheets she was lying on were covered in blood. Jessica tried to remain calm by concentrating on her breathing, but she was in pain with each breath.

Jessica's thoughts started to wander, and she suddenly found herself fixating on the stunningly high arched ceilings above her. Murals depicting angels and cherubs interacting in the golden clouds of heaven were used to embellish the ceiling. The angels watched as Jessica bled to death as they stared down on her from their depicted paradise.

"Jess..." A woman's voice resonated in the distance.

Those words. That same voice kept coming to Jessica.

Jessica gasped in anguish as she felt a sharp pang between her ribs. Her breathing was becoming shallower and more erratic, and the wooden stake was squirming about in her chest. Jessica's hands trembled despite her efforts to steady the stake with them.

Jessica made the agonizing decision to remove the stake from her chest when she was unable to take the anguish any longer. Jessica closed her eyes, braced herself, and pulled the spike from her chest.

Jessica took a sharp breath and then sat up straight, holding just air. When Jessica looked down, she discovered that she was in her dorm bed, wrapped in her favorite blue pajamas and her blue comforter. Both a stake and blood were absent.

The entire thing had been a nightmare, Jessica realized.

Jessica threw the blankets back after exhaling a breath of relief. On the edge of her desk, there was a brief message that was scrawled by Felix.

'Dear Jess,

I hope you had a restful sleep. I apologize for not waking you up. When the storm was through, I could not bring myself to wake you up. Instead, I carried you to your dorm room (do not worry, nobody saw us).

Jessica hopes to meet you for lunch and has left a carton of juice in your closet. Hugo and Pierre will take care of you while I'm gone, so kindly follow them at all times. When I am not there to defend you, they will assist in keeping you secure.

When she imagined being carried across the campus by her dark vampire love, Jessica briefly felt all mushy. But as soon as Jessica saw the pile of clothes she had been wearing yesterday, her illusion was dashed. Jessica gazed down at her panda pajamas and realized that she could not have slipped these on in her sleep.

"Felix, you are such a pervert, oh my God!" Jessica screwed up Felix's note, while snapped loudly, and she hurled it across the room.

Jessica took off the emerald ring Felix had given her the previous night and stuffed it in her sock drawer after Felix took advantage of her while she was asleep in addition to skewering her with a wooden stake in her dreams. Jessica had no intention of remaining wed to a weirdo. Officially, Jessica despised being a vampire.

Jessica left for college an hour later. After the storm came through during the night, the air was crisp and clean. The harsh sunshine made Jessica's delicate vampire eyes water. Jessica was not relieved by the shades, which made her question how she would manage throughout the summer. Jessica now recognized the rationale behind vampires' preference for nighttime vigilance.

It was a relief to leave the sunlight outside and enter the campus buildings. Through the throngs of people, Jessica made her way to the campus cafe. Before her next lecture, Jessica had a few spare hours. Oddly, Axel and Hugo had not arrived to watch her, so Jessica was taking advantage of her independence. She then opened the carton of blood and sat down at a quiet table in the café. Jessica assumed that this was her new coffee schedule.

As she reclined, Jessica overheard a recognizable voice ask, "Hi Jess, can I sit with you?"

When Jessica raised her head, she noticed James standing close by. James, please have a seat, Jessica grinned.

James sat down next to Jessica after pulling out a chair.

"That new substitute lecturer was seeking for you last night; are you okay? I was very concerned "stated James.

"I'm good, but how was Felix with you?" Hesitantly, Jessica asked him.

James said, "Yeah, he was simply genuinely worried about you."

"After class, I was supposed to meet him, but I had to cancel due to a conflict. I suppose he missed my message, "Jessica remarked in an effort to stop this topic of conversation. James leaned in close to Jessica and whispered, "Have you got a moment? I want to ask you something."

Jessica said, looking back, "Sure."

In an uneasy tone, James said, "So, there's this party coming up, and I'm supposed to bring someone with me. And I kind of thought you could come along with me. It could be like a date?"

A male voice with a dark, menacing tone roared in Jessica's thoughts, saying, "Jess, don't you dare."

Jessica retorted, "This is for panda pajama-gate, you undead pervert," before turning back to James and stating, "Yeah, that would be good."

James said, "Thanks! I've got to get to football practice, but I'll catch you around," as a broad smile spread across his face. James then moved in to kiss Jessica on the cheek.

Jessica then sensed Felix tense up.

'Come here right away!' Felix commanded. Jessica retorted haughtily, 'Excuse me, but I'm not going to be bossed around by you, especially if you talk to me in that tone.'

Felix's voice roared into Jessica's ear, "Miss Madison, Can I have a Word?" When Jessica saw Felix standing over her, she leaped out of her chair. Everyone in the café had stopped talking and was fixated on them.

'Would you like me to cause a scene?' Felix said in her head.

He moved so quickly, Jessica, but damn.

Felix escorted Jessica to an empty classroom as she grinned feebly. Felix held the door open as he awaited Jessica's passage. Felix violently shut the door as Jessica entered the classroom through the entryway. Jessica made an effort not to flinch. Felix approached Jessica while she was fully standing. She moved nervously away from him and placed herself behind a desk. " What the hell do you think you are doing with James? Felix" yelled as he banged his hands against the desk.

Jessica inflated herself in wrath, "Your primitive shows of anger.do not terrify me Felix," Jessica snarled," I am not going to be browbeaten by you. If I want to go out with James, there is nothing you can do to stop me." Jessica was something he owned that no one else could have, according to him. Jessica was annoyed by this. She wasn't something he had the right to claim. He had to strive for her if he wanted to be with her.

Jessica remained firm as she observed Felix's menacingly aggressive attitude. Jessica briefly believed Felix was going to break something as he tightened his fists in rage. Felix eventually closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.

Suddenly, Felix's expression softened, and he gazed up at Jessica while opening his eyes. His hands shifted to the desk that was in between them. Felix calmly moved the desk out of the way so that nothing was in their way. Jessica took a step back nervously. Felix glanced back at Jessica as she walked away, and for a split second, a mocking smile formed on the corner of his mouth. Felix quickly shortened the gap between them after that. His finger dug into Jessica's hair and jerked back her head violently. Felix covered Jessica's mouth in a terrible kiss as she tried to protest.

Jessica's entire body started to burn, and she initially believed she would pass out on the floor in a heap. Unable to think straight, Jessica grabbed a grip of Felix's shirt to keep herself from falling. Felix kept placing his mouth over Jessica's. He didn't give a delicate or constrained kiss. Instead, it was a passionate, deep kiss that bordered on being harsh.

Fully engrossed in the moment, Jessica leaned against him. Jessica encircled Felix's neck with her arms and tangled her fingers in his hair. Only after Jessica pressed herself up against his firm, powerful body and begged for more did Felix suddenly tear away from her.

Jessica tripped and fell backward, landing on the desk behind her. Jessica noticed Felix's expression of satisfaction as she took a deep breath.

"I despise you, Jessica wailed.

Felix smiled, "That wasn't what you were thinking when I was kissing you."

Jessica yelled, "I hate you twice as much."

"I believe that Jess and I were destined to be. In comparison to the intensity and chemistry we have, this thing you have going with that lad James is incomparable, "said Felix.

"Please, stop flattering yourself," Jessica said.

"To be honest with you, I will. Because you are my wife, I don't want some small boy to touch you inappropriately. I'll cut off all communication with this boy James if you don't stop it before sundown, Jess." Felix said.
