Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Ingredients from the Monster Hunter World

With the 15,000 gold obtained from the guild counter, Bai Mo first headed to the Lynian Canteen.

Hunters stationed at the New World research base were guaranteed three meals a day at the base. However, if they wanted better food, they had to either pay or bring their own ingredients.

As Bai Mo held the position of a Gold-level researcher at the Ecological Research Institute, his daily meals at the Lynian Canteen were already of a higher standard. But this time, he wasn't just here to enjoy the food—he also wanted to purchase some ingredients from the head chef, the Lynian.

Still, since he was already here, he might as well eat first!

Stir-fried Premium Matsutake Mushrooms, Rockfruit Salad, Roasted Wild Fowl, White Liver Wyvern Soup, Pan-Seared Queen Shrimp, paired with Starlight Brandy, Heavenly Berries, and Herbivore Wyvern Cheese—a lavish feast was served.

This meal cost Bai Mo over 400 gold!

To put it into perspective, a level 3 Research Commission prototype Charge Blade only cost 1,000 gold. Spending half the price of a weapon on a single meal was something only Bai Mo would do. Other hunters would only splurge on such special dishes when setting out on missions.

But these dishes successfully provided Bai Mo with 5,300 Gourmet Points, and the Pan-Seared Queen Shrimp even reached Purple Four-Star quality.

[Ding~ Congratulations, host, for tasting the Purple Four-Star dish [Pan-Seared Queen Shrimp]. Recipe recorded. Obtained 6,700 Deliciousness Points! Randomly acquired ability: Fishing Spot Intuition (You can identify the best fishing spots—a dream come true for anglers.)]

Though the ability wasn't particularly impressive, the fishing skill might come in handy in the future.

Moreover, this was only Bai Mo's second proper meal in the New World. If he hadn't been busy with missions and assisting at the research institute, he might have gained even more Gourmet Points and abilities.

Just like in Teyvat, this world was also filled with wonderful ingredients. Compared to the scarce delicacies of modern society, seeking gourmet treasures in other worlds was far more suitable for him!

Watching his Gourmet Cell Awakening Rate rise by another 7%, Bai Mo didn't forget his original purpose for coming here today.

When he expressed his desire to purchase a batch of ingredients, the Lynian chef asked skeptically, "It's not that I won't sell you ingredients, but is there anyone in the base who cooks better than me?"

After a pause, he added, "Except for my master, of course!"

"And if you want to buy ingredients, you can just go to the trading area, right? They sell basic ingredients there too!"

"That's true, but I need a rather large quantity," Bai Mo finally decided to reveal his spatial storage secret.

After all, if he wanted to purchase ingredients from the Monster Hunter world in bulk, the Lynian and the Commander were key figures he couldn't bypass.

While monster meat could be obtained by hunting himself, other ingredients were either gathered by hunters or shipped from the Old World. Purchasing them in large quantities would be impossible to hide.

With only around 300 people in the New World research base, it was nearly impossible to keep such a transaction under wraps.

Moreover, Bai Mo's goal wasn't limited to the New World. Compared to the New World, the more developed Old World boasted even more monsters and ingredients!

Thus, Bai Mo felt that aligning himself with the Dragon Research Commission might not be enough—he also needed to maintain a harmonious relationship with the Hunter's Guild.

After demonstrating his spatial storage ability, the Lynian was stunned but quickly regained his composure.

"You're saying food stored in your space stays perfectly fresh? So you want to buy ingredients to store and feed the Nargacuga and others?"

"Exactly. Finding suitable food in the wild can be quite challenging," Bai Mo said, mixing truth with lies. "So I want to stock up on ingredients for emergencies."

"I see," the Lynian nodded. "Yesterday, the Ecological Research Institute delivered a Jyuratodus and a Pukei-Pukei."

"The materials from these monsters have already been processed by the workshop. Their meat is currently stored in the warehouse. If you want it, I can sell it to you."

Well, it seemed even the flesh of the two monsters he killed yesterday wouldn't be spared!

But Bai Mo had no objections. After following the Lynian to a cave behind the canteen, he was immediately astonished.

Aside from storing numerous ingredients, the cave was also filled with Frostblooms and chilling coldstones emitting frosty air.

Was this the world's refrigeration system?

It was truly eye-opening.

The Lynian, meanwhile, walked straight to a large coldstone slab, on which lay neatly butchered chunks of meat.

"This is Jyuratodus meat. Though it's wyvern meat, it has the tender texture of fish—a rare delicacy. After removing the materials and bones, there's about 20 tons left here."

"I'll take it all!"

The Lynian had no objections and pointed to a pile of bones nearby. "Those are some of the Jyuratodus bones. They make a great broth."

After storing over 20 tons of Jyuratodus meat in his Vision space, Bai Mo also packed away the ton or so of bones.

Next were the Pukei-Pukei ingredients. The Pukei-Pukei was smaller, and many of its organs were toxic and inedible, leaving only about 8 tons of usable meat.

However, the Lynian also sold Bai Mo the creature's thick, fleshy tongue—the most delicious part of the Pukei-Pukei.

Beyond these, the Lynian also offered to sell him some Herbivore Wyvern meat, Aptonoth eggs, three captured Wiggler fish, and other assorted ingredients and alcohol.

Watching Bai Mo effortlessly store all the ingredients without any issues, the Lynian couldn't help but feel envious.

A portable space like this was incredibly convenient!

After paying 8,000 gold, Bai Mo continued on to the trading area.

However, after Bai Mo left, the Lynian immediately went to report to the Star's Ship.
