Chapter 191 – The Fool's Worries
Gojo sat back in his office chair, one leg slung casually over the other, flipping through reports that were stacked higher than his patience. His blindfold tilted slightly as he muttered, "Ha, I destroyed Congo? Why would I? To take revenge on Miguel? Please… I barely know that guy. Sure, I gave him a good beating the last time we met, but why would I go out of my way to nuke a chunk of Africa? Someone's trying to pin this on me."
His grin lingered, but there was a line of suspicion at the edge of it. Framing me, huh? I wonder who'd be dumb enough to try…
He tossed the report down onto his desk, but another detail stuck in his mind. "Anyway, whatever happened in Congo, that's Ren's fault. It has to be. The area that got wrecked was mostly woodlands… and Mei Mei's mansion. And who was there around that time? Ren."
Gojo leaned forward, elbows on the desk, chin resting lazily on his palm. "Training is fine, but training on that scale? Nah. And the way he dragged himself back to Jujutsu High beat to hell—nope, not training. He was experimenting. Damn kid, experimenting with curses is forbidden for a reason. Ugh…"
For a moment his voice was low and thoughtful, but then he snorted. "But if what he said last time was true, if he really is bored of the jujutsu world, then doing something reckless like that isn't surprising. That kid's more of a problem than I thought, eh?"
Gojo spun once in his chair, his usual careless smile sliding back into place. "Well, whatever. I can handle it if things get messy. Plus, he's under my watch now. For the past few days, he's been playing the role of a good student. Sleeping late, yeah, but that's nothing new."
His grin widened. "And that excuse about going to Mei Mei? Hah. That was clearly him messing with Maki." Gojo chuckled, tapping his desk. "I know he didn't leave Jujutsu High. But… Mei Mei did leave later that night. Hmm. Is it possible she met him? And then… and then they…"
The words trailed off into his head, and then Gojo's entire expression shifted into mock horror. "Wait! Did he—? No, no way! Ren knows about protection, right?!"
He shot upright, clutching his temples. "What if he doesn't?! Damn it, that witch Mei Mei! She might actually want Ren's kid, just to chain herself to him forever!" His mind spun with ridiculous scenarios, and for a moment the strongest sorcerer in the world looked like a panicked parent…
He nearly toppled out of his chair before catching himself, then sat frozen, imagining one insane "what-if" after another.
But at the same time, Gojo failed to realize the person he was thinking about had already left Jujutsu High…
He stopped himself mid-rant, planting his feet on the ground. His chest rose and fell, his hand gripping the arm of the chair. "Calm down, Gojo. You're overthinking. Probably."
But before he could storm off to interrogate Ren about his, ahem, extracurricular activities, his eyes fell on another report. He slid the blindfold down, sharp blue eyes scanning the page.
The grin vanished. His eyes narrowed, visible now as he pulled the blindfold off, letting the white light of his Six Eyes sharpen on the words before him. His hand tightened until the paper creaked.
"War? United Nations? Don't make me laugh…" His voice dropped to a cold monotone. "They have no proof. And even if they did, I don't represent all of Japan. If they have a problem, they should come to me, not wage war against Japan!"
He skimmed further, and his disgust deepened. "The training camp… so this is the reason they wanted to have another training camp, huh? I was wondering why they were doing this... A show of power? Letting spies from every nation watch? They've lost it. That old man's actually trying to wage war against the world?"
The paper ripped between his fingers with a sound like a blade cutting flesh. He let the scraps fall to the floor, glaring at nothing.
"I won't let anyone spy on my students. Not for power. Not for politics. Especially not for him."
Among the torn fragments on the ground, one piece lay face up, the ink still bold in the dim office light.
The name written there was clear.
Gojo Naomichi—Elder of the Gojo Clan.
