"Whoa, Elder Gamata is so cool! And his size is incredible!"
"Woah, the big brother showed up too?"
Little toads hopped forward, grabbing the latest updates to read. Naturally, Gamata was the most popular character in this episode.
At the mention of Gamata's name, more toads gathered around excitedly.
So handsome!
Gamata was the boss among all these toads—strongest in both strength and aura.
Seeing an even stronger version of Gamata inside the manga, they couldn't help but feel envious.
"Watch me, Summoning Jutsu!"
A young toad jumped onto the sleeping Gamata's body. Using its front legs as if making hand seals, it imitated exactly what it saw in the manga, slamming its palm down hard on Gamata's back.
"You idiot, don't—"
"Oh no!"
Everyone froze in shock.
This tiny toad had actually dared disturb the sleeping Elder Gamata.
As a result of that slap, Gamata slowly opened his eyes, still groggy from sleep.
He didn't know what happened yet, only feeling that someone had hit his back before he suddenly woke up.
"Who did that?"
A deep voice rumbled out, filled with irritation.
"See? I summoned Elder Gamata just like Naruto!"
Unaware of the danger, the young toad remained excited—it was bursting with pride.
The rest of the toads facepalmed.
Gamata was furious—and that meant serious consequences.
The next second—
"You fool! Who told you to hit me while I was sleeping? I'll kill you!"
His enraged roar echoed across Mount Myoboku.
Far away at where Fukasaku was training him, Jiraiya looked completely bewildered. What the heck was Gamata roaring about? He didn't do anything!
Sage Fukasaku, flipping through the manga, calmly glanced over and said, "Focus yourself first—you've lost your composure again."
"Yes sir!"
Jiraiya quickly adjusted his state of mind, steadying himself once more on the stone slab.
Sage Fukasaku lay resting on a stone pillar.
He had gotten used to those movable chairs inside the illusion world; this stiff rock wasn't very comfortable.
"I wonder when that kid will finish making new volumes. Let's keep reading."
He pulled out the next volume.
Though creating manga was difficult, simply reading them was surprisingly fast—within less than an hour, he'd already finished one-third of *Naruto*.
Still,
That wasn't a problem—he still had plenty left.
Looking at the towering pile of manga beside him, Sage Fukasaku felt satisfied.
"I don't know why Great Toad Sage dreamed about that brat, but this manga thing really is great. Reading straight through is such a thrill."
Had it not been for Mount Myoboku's nature, he'd have asked Sakuma Akaba to open a manga shop here.
But then again, there was no money to pay them on the mountain.
Getting free comics was already embarrassing enough; asking for financial support to run a shop would be pushing things too far.
This seems like the better choice.
Fukasaku mused about what kind of goods could be traded with humans in exchange for more manga.
Insect Cuisine?
Maybe worth discussing with that kid later.
Back at Konoha's main gate, the recruitment process was almost complete.
"Tch, that guy never showed up at all. Left us stuck cleaning up his mess. Classic Akaba—total slacker."
They'd originally thought Akaba had just stepped out for a short while, but he didn't appear even by afternoon.
What made it worse was that
the remaining shadow clone didn't seem particularly motivated either. Though it wasn't slacking off, its productivity remained quite limited.
No surprise—it's just a shadow clone, nearly as indifferent as the original.
Loe sighed softly.
"Hey Akaba, you owe me dinner when we get back. I still haven't forgiven you for killing Hayate so brutally last time."
Nightdance returned looking tired.
He'd been responsible for recruiting combat training instructors—the hardest, most exhausting job. After one day of work, he felt mentally drained.
"That's the original's issue. Though I guess things like money or dining out don't really concern him anyway."
The clone kept its face blank, like none of this was any of its business.
"Tch, forget dinner. I still need to go train."
Nightdance handed the documents to Loe and added, "Here are everyone's files. The rest is up to you from here."
"Alright."
Analytically speaking, his capabilities truly surpassed the others, which was exactly why they'd brought Loe to the job fair.
Gradually, all the documents were handed over—
a massive stack of papers.
And this was already the filtered result. If these were all the raw documents, Loe feared he'd die of exhaustion before even finishing sorting them.
"Everyone worked hard today. Seems like we're finished now."
Right then, Akaba arrived.
He timed his entrance perfectly, deliberately rushing over only when things were nearly done.
Loe shot him a quick glance and went back to shuffling papers listlessly.
"I'll treat everyone tonight. And once the Preparatory Division work begins, I'll give everyone some additional privileges."
Akaba announced.
"Forget dinner. Just be less ruthless toward us when we join the Preparatory Division, and I'll be grateful enough."
The genin showed no interest in dining at all.
Though grilled meat and other delicacies might sound tempting, without sufficient strength, who knew what situation they'd face entering the Preparatory Division?
It'd be totally humiliating to get outdone by this year's batch of fresh genin.
"Yeah, I should head back too. Who knows what Gammaru's up to without me around all day."
Inuzuka Ishi stretched lazily.
Even though they'd just been running errands all day, they were just as exhausted as anyone else after work.
Without lingering further, the group quickly dispersed, leaving only four people—Loe, Nightdance, Shinnosuke, and Akaba.
"There were quite a few strong chunin today—many had actually seen real battlefields. I couldn't tell specifically how to choose among them, so it's up to you guys to decide."
Nightdance lifted his blade slightly, making his meaning obvious.
His training for the day wasn't finished yet, and he needed to return to make it up rather than staying around here.
"Thanks."
Akaba bowed in appreciation.
Sure, it was basically a trade for the Silent Steps technique. But if they weren't friends, Nightdance wouldn't have gone this far.
Nightdance waved briefly, then vanished instantly.
"Akaba, you haven't sought me out in ages. Now even helping you requires going through Father's mouth instead. Are you afraid I'll create new weapons and beat you up again?"
Shinnosuke grinned proudly as he pulled a peculiar weapon from his waist.
That's right, it was a frying pan.
It looked extremely plain and unadorned, without the slightest decorative patterns, but judging from its material and craftsmanship, it was an incredibly powerful chakra weapon.
Loe's eyes widened in shock. "Even His Lordship the Third allowed you to mess around by using such precious materials to create just a simple frying pan!"
"This is no ordinary pan!"
Shinnosuke shouted angrily. No one ever got it — no one understood his genius design.
He infused it with chakra.
Instantly, the frying pan turned earth yellow, resembling rock, and as more chakra flowed into it, it expanded continuously until reaching ten times its original size.
"Look, it can both attack and defend. Actually, I could even—"
With a swing of the frying pan, countless earth spikes shot forth.
Launching an attack like that while defending? That'd definitely take enemies by surprise.
Loe gave it a quick look before going back to his paperwork. Judging from its effects, it truly was a decent weapon, although its appearance left much to be desired.
"C'mon, what's with those faces? You thinkin' I slaved over this awesome weapon for nothing?"
Shinnosuke removed the chakra flow and shouted, clearly annoyed.
"No, I'm just amazed. I hope you won't end up like Kaito did."
Akaba expressed sincerely.
In a previous life, Kaito had met his doom all because of a frying pan. Shinnosuke didn't understand but happily continued testing his new weapon.
Seeing that nobody paid attention, he sadly put away the frying pan and said, "By the way, how do you plan to arrange training?"
"We'll use illusions to simulate various scenarios for realistic combat training."
Akaba explained.
These genin students weren't that strong, so there'd be no need for large-scale group battles initially, which meant their spirit points wouldn't drain excessively.
As for large-scale group illusions—
Thanks to Yumekuma's ability, as long as there was a group of people with relatively strong spiritual energy supplying him, the consumption of spirit points required for the genjutsu could be reduced to a manageable level.
"I'm a genin too, so I should be able to join the Preparatory Division!"
Shinnosuke's eyes lit up upon hearing this.
Illusion-based simulation training had already been implemented within Root teams previously, followed later by methods similar to Protect Konoha Village and Desert Survival.
He hadn't experienced Root team's illusion training yet, but he had participated in both Protect Konoha Village and Desert Survival, though they were extremely difficult, they were also quite fun.
"You already got a Jonin leading you. Forget it."
Akaba rejected mercilessly.
"No exceptions at all? Can't you bend the rules a bit?"
"Why are you acting so strangely? What's so great about the Preparatory Division anyway?"
Loe found this very strange.
The Preparatory Division sounded like a place only very inferior ninja would go, so why would an elite genin like Shinnosuke want to join?
"Oh right, aside from that, there are occasionally special events, like anime-themed lessons on weekends, like Japanese cartoon education, for instance. Compared to normal training, it should be way more fun. If it's the Genin Council, I also have some unique arrangements."
Akaba babbled on about part of his plans.
Shinnosuke grew increasingly excited while listening. Many projects sounded super interesting just from the description alone. Joining the Preparatory Division must surely bring lots of enjoyment.
Deep down, he knew all of this was impossible.
The nine genin who participated in the recent Chunin Exams were all outstanding students from the same cohort. Among them, Shinku Yuhi possessed the weakest strength, yet she was still fiercely pursued by various departments.
If Shinnosuke, as the Third's son, had to hide within the Preparatory Division together with other genin, it wouldn't just be those nine losing face—it would be a disgrace for the Third himself.
"Oh, right—if you're skilled in Earth Release, after completing missions assigned by the village, you can still come to the Preparatory Division during your spare time. Naturally, I wouldn't ask you here just for fun—you'll be helping the other genin improve their taijutsu training. And when there are manga education-related activities, I'll definitely include you."
Akaba said with a smile.
"What exactly is this manga education activity?"
Seeing Shinnosuke show interest, Loe let out a quiet sigh.
This was Akaba's usual method of forcibly recruiting people. The moment Shinnosuke showed interest, he had already lost his chance to back out.
If it had happened to him personally,
Loe's reaction would've been simple—he'd just turn and walk away, ignoring whatever Akaba said and focusing only on his own affairs.
Clearly though, Shinnosuke didn't possess such self-discipline.
"Manga education means exactly what it says—we use genjutsu to recreate manga plots so that students can personally experience the ideas and meanings I want to convey. It's part of ideological education."
Akaba explained.
"Oh! That sounds really interesting! Sure sure, I agree!"
Shinnosuke instantly became enthusiastic.
Loe lowered his head slightly, completely unsurprised by the outcome.
Compared to boring theoretical lectures, immersing students as characters in illusions lets them experience the emotions and ideas behind the plot firsthand—helping them grasp the underlying lesson more effectively.
Thinking carefully, this educational approach truly was better.
"This guy... doesn't seem to have been lazy for no reason after all."
He sighed softly, continuing to organize the vast amount of materials.
