Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: I've seen you before

The scene goes back to Jin and Junko as they watch Ryu drop down to the ground.

Bushes rustle

"Mhmm?" - Jin

"What is it?" - Junko

"Did you hear that?" - Jin

"Hear wha-" - Junko

"Shoooosh" - Jin whispers

"Someone's here" - Jin whispers

The forest was quiet—too quiet, someone was stalking them. Junko froze, her breath caught in her chest. The forest pressed in around them, every shadow between the trees suddenly alive, leaves whispered again—rustle, shwshh.

Jin temporarily leaves Junko and wanders the vicinity, scanning every shadow, eyes flicking from tree to tree. He leaps onto trees to get a better look at the ground, and after focusing his eyes to adapt to the dark, he sees it, a man in a white robe.

He lunges down and quickly charges at the man, but gets interrupted.

"Jin!"

Behind him, another man in a white robe, holding Junko at gunpoint. More men in robes and masks come out of the bushes and surround them.

"...Let her go" - Jin

"Jin...help me" - Junko whimpers

Jin turns to the man he was chasing

"Who are you people" - Jin

The man shows him a picture of Kenny

"It's...you! You killed Kenny" - Jin as he gets furious

"Uh uh uh" - the man as he points at Junko

Jin calms down

"Why. What's your business with me?" - Jin

Man approaches him

"Not just you, all four of you." - the man

"You will all suffer for what you've done" - the man

"What-did we do-" - Jin

Helicopter flies above them

"You will soon know. Retreat!" - the man

They all flee the area

Junko gasps for air

"Hey! You bastards think you can just run away!" - Jin

"I'll be back real quick just stay here alright!" - Jin as he chases after the men and leaves Junko

Cuts back to Ryu battling the yokais, rather, trying to stay alive. The clearing below pulsed with deadly auras. Two yokais prowling Ryu like living nightmares.

Harikami's hair writhed like black snakes, tipped with hooks that glinted in the dim light. Every strand could lash with blinding speed grappling it's victim, wrapping like iron chains - or ensnare limbs, each hook inflicting excruciating pain as it struck.

Nikubito, a living parasite, flesh shifting and splitting at will. Its tendrils crawled across the ground, searching for weakness, probing to pierce, bind, or merge with anything they touched. Wherever it landed, it threatened to consume or reform, relentless and unfeeling.

High above, perched on the statue from the tomb, Itachi staring down ominously. His arms twisted unnaturally, morphing into sharp, gleaming blades and sabers, each one a potential strike capable of slicing through earth, stone, or flesh alike. He was a predator waiting to descend, a silent executioner orchestrating the chaos below.

Ryu surged forward, electricity coiling around his fists and crackling along his skin. Harikami struck first, her hooked hair lashing around him. Each strand darted with deadly precision, tearing at his arms, slicing through the air with a metallic hiss. Ryu with his guard up, tackling every attack with thunder strikes, scorching strands to ash, but more hooks always followed, faster and sharper, wrapping and striking from every direction.

Nikubito moved like a sickness, tendrils writhing and splitting, lashing at his legs, twisting around his torso. Every strike that Ryu's electricity struck down was replaced by another, each more cunning than the last. The parasite's flesh reformed instantly, shrugging off his attacks, coiling like it had a mind of its own, forcing him back step by step.

Ryu's stamina burning quickly, sweat and static clinging to his skin. His power was great, but unrefined; still unmastered. The yokais were seasoned predators, relentless and calculating. Harikami's hair coiled around his neck like a boa, followed by Nikubito's slimy tentacles draining his life with just a touch. He responds by severing her hair with a lightning charged slice, grabs Nikubito's tentacle and slams him into Harikami. Every attack unleashed was met with counter and anticipation. The clearing became a storm of sparks, smoke, and blood, but it was not enough—he was being worn down.

Step by step, he stumbled, sparks fizzing and crackling weakly, electricity sputtering as fatigue set in. And then, from above, Itachi descended. Calm, deliberate, his blade-arm slicing through the air. In a single, merciless strike, the blade pierced Ryu's chest, driving him into the earth. Sparks flared one last time, electricity coiling uselessly around him, he was defeated.

"I highly doubted you boy, you are indeed strong, but you are merely an impostor." - Itachi

Pierces blade deeper

"Blergh" - Ryu

"Do not be displeased, your death is a stepping stone for us." - Itachi

Silence hung heavy over the clearing, broken only by the faint crackle of residual electricity fading from Ryu's body. He lays there on the ground, bleeding rapidly and not moving, and as he takes his final breathe, his mark stops illuminating for the last time, Ryu has died.

They leave the scene and go back to prepare for the ritual at hand. The sacrifices have been delivered, a vessel has been found, and as Itachi puts his hand out towards the statue, he chants...

The eclipse grants life, and mortals take it. Let the era of warfare be reborn—arise, Ōmagatoki (日食は生命を与え,人はそれを受け取る.戦乱の時代を再び蘇らせよ――立ち上がれ,大魔ヶ刻よ)

A beam of searing energy shot skyward for a moment, illuminating the surrounding trees and painting the forest in a dark atmosphere.

Chanting in a low, resonant voice, Itachi traced arcane symbols through the air with his blade-like arms. The energy coiled and pulsed in response, feeding into the spell, twisting the very fabric of the area. The yokais moved in perfect synchrony, preparing the statue as the air thickened with raw, supernatural power. Shadows stretched unnaturally, and the earth beneath them seemed to pulse in rhythm with the growing energy.

The scene shifts to a mysterious void space. There, a tree luminescening a green hue, stuck on a ground with oddly soft grass, and there lays Ryu, standing on the grass looking at his surroundings

"I know you're here, you can come out" - Ryu

A silhouette emerges out of the void, it's figure shrouded by a thunderstorm, it's face hidden.

"I've seen you before, back at the FFC temple, when I looked in the mirror for a sec...that was you." - Ryu
