"Why did you marry me, really?" Adrian asked suddenly one night.
I froze.
"You had a choice, didn't you?" he pressed.
I turned away. "You wouldn't understand."
He walked closer. "Try me."
I stared at him. "Because… I've loved you since I was sixteen."
Silence.
His jaw clenched, and he walked out without a word.
