Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Queens at War

The Grand Yacht Gala

The afternoon was perfect—a balmy summer day with a gentle breeze sweeping across the marina. The Grand Yacht Gala, an exclusive event for the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry, was in full swing. The magnificent yacht, "Elysium," was docked at the harbor, its sleek lines and opulent design making it the star of the evening.

Celebrities began to arrive, each one more dazzling than the last. Paparazzi lights flashed as the A-listers made their way down the red carpet leading to the yacht. There was Emma Stone, her gown shimmering in the moonlight; Leonardo DiCaprio, casually dapper in his tuxedo; and Beyoncé, a vision of grace and power. Sabrina, an up-and-coming actress known for her mysterious aura, arrived with her red high heels. She was always the enigma, her cold demeanor a stark contrast to the glitz around her.

Once onboard, the guests were greeted with champagne. The yacht's deck was transformed into a lavish ballroom, with chandeliers hanging from the tented roof and a live band playing soft jazz. Sabrina kept to herself, her icy persona warding off curious glances. She made her way to the upper deck. After few minutes, she decided to go to the restroom to retouch her make up.

"You are here." It is a cold and intrigue greeting coming from a well-known model.

"Do not talk to me Julia." Sabrina said as she continues to put powder on her face.

Julia is Sabrina's rivalry in the modelling. Both wants to be entitled as the most beautiful model where they promote very luxurious brands of clothes.

"Well, why I am wasting my time to you." Julia put her down her bag on the side as she started to do her make up too.

"But you know Sabrina, I will make a very big announcement later." Julia's' lips formed a smirk.

Two other girls go inside the restroom.

"I do not fucking care with your announcement. As if it will affect my career."

"Yes, and that will be the end of your career."

"You should die."

Trouble. Surely their voice is heard in the room. But she does not care anymore. Julia really pisses her off. And she does not want anyone threatened her specially in her career.

She is the best.

"You first." Julia laugh at her and smirked playfully before it goes out of the room.

--

A night before the event, Nathaniel fell into a restless sleep in his room. He had a vivid dream in which he saw someone falling from the yacht. A girl in red high heels was on the edge, about to plunge into the dark waters below. He reached out, trying to save her, but he woke up just before he could grab her hand.

"The red high heels look familiar," he murmured to himself, trying to recall where he had seen those before. The memory eluded him, making him restless and anxious. As he drifted back to sleep, the dream continued to haunt him, making him uneasy.

--

That same night, Nathaniel heard noises coming from his neighbor's apartment. Sabrina was humming loudly, her voice even though not that loud, but for him, voices are carrying through the walls.

"Tomorrow will be a big event. I should be the most beautiful there." she sang happily.

Nathaniel continued to lie in bed, not particularly interested in her musings. But then, he heard her.

"I like to match this dress with this red heels."

"Red heels?" he thought, suddenly alert.

Could Sabrina be the girl from his dream?

He debated with himself, then decided he had to find out. He got up and went to her door, knocking hesitantly.

Nathaniel knocked for several times until the door opened. Nathaniel got confused as he cannot even see Sabrina's face.

It was all covered by facemask, shades, even her hair cannot be seen because she is wearing a hoodie jacket, and her body is all covered. Her feet cannot be seen as she wears black socks.

"Uhm…" he began, struggling to find the right words.

Sabrina raised an eyebrow, waiting impatiently. "What is it?"

Why Sabrina's voice changed? Is she sick?

"Where are you going tomorrow?" he asked, his eyes fixed on the red heels that she saw on Sabrina's shoe rack, the same heels he had seen in his dream.

Sabrina sighed, feeling irritated by his intrusion. "None of your business." she snapped, closing the door in his face.

--

The next morning, Sabrina panicked.

"Where are my heels?" she shouted, searching her collection room. She was sure she had left them there, but now they were gone. Nathaniel, hearing her distress, smiled to himself. He had hidden the red heels in his cabinet, hoping to prevent the nightmare from becoming reality.

Later that day, Nathaniel was at home, watching television. He was focused in a documentary about galaxies when the afternoon's event highlights interrupted the program. His eyes widened when he saw Sabrina on the screen, wearing the same red high heels he had seen in his dream.

"Why is she wearing those red high heels?" he was confused. He knew that sabrina is in danger. He felt a strange sensation, a power he had never felt before, compelling him to act.

He needs to save her.

--

In an instant, Nathaniel found himself teleporting to the yacht. Time was freeze as he arrived. Sabrina was at the edge, swaying but in difficulty to balance due to her drunkenness. He paused the time just as she began to fall, he caught her in his arms.

Time resumed, and Sabrina gasped, clutching onto him. They were now inside the nearby room. Her breathing was shallow, and her eyes fluttered closed.

"You saved me," she whispered weakly. In that moment, her youthful appearance began to fade, and she transformed into an old lady.

Nathaniel stared in shock, his mind is analyzing what had just happened.

"Who are you?" he asked, his voice trembling.

"I am Sabrina." She said before she fell asleep.
