Chapter 3 - Hil Clan

Claire. The girl in the bed whispered the person's name to herself. The person's name was beautiful, but no one could tolerate her attitude. Her history was full of rejection from good-looking guys and her foolish attitude.

Suddenly, the door swung open, and the eerie sound caused Claire to face it. The young girl at the door resembled the beautiful woman previously and was younger than Claire. However, her expression of repulsion and haughty attitude contradicted her young age.

Claire only squinted slightly, for in her memories, she was afraid of the girl in front of her. Her younger sister, Lacia, was a prodigy mage. She was only twelve years old, but she had already become an advanced mage.

Because of her remarkable talent, she was chosen by the Director of the Rising Sun Institute when she was five years old to be one of his chosen students. This pleased Duke Jordan Hale, her grandfather, so much. The gifted young woman hated Claire because her mother doted on her so much. This was not unexpected because Lacia, as a child prodigy, was loved by her grandfather, father, and brother. Because of this, her mother gave more attention to the loathed Claire.

"Hmph, you've brought such shame to the Hill family name, and you ended up in this state just because you fell off a horse while chasing a man." Lacia lifted her head and looked down at the figure on the bed. She walked to the bed, a line of malice flashing in her eyes, and placed her face directly in front of Claire's. She said in a low, poisonous voice, "My dear big sister, why did you not die when you fell from that horse?"

Claire simply looked at the beautiful face before her. Who would have imagined that such an evil remark would come from someone who looked so innocent?

Lacia looked at Claire's calm face and was amazed. Normally, her idiot big sister would tremble at such words, but now she was so calm.

There were steps outside, and Lacia's face was screwed up in a scowl. She was saying something under her breath, and in a split second, there was a small lightning bolt in her hand. Claire had no time to respond yet, and already, Lacia had directed her finger at Claire's back. Claire felt a terrible pain flowing through her body from her back. "You fool running around after men, the next time you frighten our mother like this, I will not be lenient with you," Lacia icily whispered into Claire's ear. "You should know what will happen to you if you dare to tell our mother." In the memories Claire had gained, it seemed like many such things had happened in the past. Unbeknownst to anyone, Little Sister Lacia seemed to have made Claire suffer a great deal. Claire dropped her eyes impassively, not even lifting them when Lacia turned to face her.
