Chapter 10 - Meeting with the Devil

Kai blinked open his eyes as the visions he saw where fresh in his mind, an expression of horror still on his face from the power that those beings he has seen possessed.

Their attacks had the strength to destroy the earth times over, especially that six-winged angel and frightening demon.

"But where am I?" He asked himself. His surroundings were completely black and dark with him floating around in it's empty expanse. Not for long though.

The surroundings underwent a sudden change as the darkness was tinged red and the smell of blood permeated the surroundings as he felt a feeling of dark dread.

He didn't know at what point but a male figure with long red hair and bloody eyes, there was a small grin on his face through which his slightly red teeth were visible, he floated steadily in the red void and looked at Kai in boredom.

"Heh that angel thought she could really kill me, but she did force me to use my most powerful artifact to save myself at the last moment." Sakrius said deep in thought.

"Looks like it's time for me to retake my revenge on her race for that but first I'll need a body of my own." He said as his red eyes glowed at Kai. Kai flinched back in fear and wanted to try his best to escape but it was too late.

Sakrius appeared in front of him and grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up as he tightened his grip on his neck and a sinister red mist although thinner and weaker enveloped him. Then Kai felt a pain that was greater than others that he had ever felt it seemed to come from deep within his very being breaking and shattering.

He struggled and screamed in pain but there seemed to be no end but as Sakrius got closer to destroying his soul the void they were in trembled over and over again as if on the verge of collapsing forcing Sakrius to end his attempts to destroy Kai's soul.

"Hmmm interesting" Sakrius said as his grin stiffened noticeably. "Looks like this kid is special, well I can deal with him later." Sakrius said as he let go of his neck as Kai's vision turned completely black.

He slowly regained consciousness as his eyes opened to the view of a pure white ceiling as his head rested on a soft pillow. He raised his body up and realized he was in a small hospital room.

A nurse sat on a chair by his left side dozing off but his movement caused her to snap herself awake and said "Ah you're awake, let me *Yaaawn* go get the doctor." She yawned and left the room.

She soon returned with a middle-aged scholarly looking man with her. "Kai Harrison right?" He asked as he looked at the clipboard in his hand. "Yes that's me." He answered with a nod.

"I have to say that you had a very lucky encounter." He said with a smile. "What do you mean?" He asked with an inquiring look.

"You were found unconscious in the woods bleeding from your eyes, nose and ears. Luckily a hiker who was passing by saw you and brought you here, he even paid your hospital bill." The doctor said his kind smile growing wider.

Kai was surprised by this information, as to why a completely random stranger would pay his bill for him. "Can I thank the person who helped me?" He asked the doctor. "Unfortunately not, he left after paying your bill, didn't leave a number or any form of identification all he said I could tell you was really weird actually." The doctor said thoughtfully.

"What did he say?" Kai asked wanting to know even the slightest detail about his benefactor. "He said, uncover the ruins deserted by the past for troubled times come on the people of all lands." He said "it seems like he's just telling you to be careful from now on." The doctor gave his take on the strange words the man had said before leaving.

But Kai felt like there was something else to it after seeing those visions and having a literal demon try to snatch his body from him.

"Anyways your injuries weren't severe at all but the main problem is that the bleeding you experienced seemed to be a result of extreme shock to your system, so it would be recommended that you go easy on yourself for now." "Okay." I replied as I knew what exactly had caused the shock.

After that he left the hospital and went straight home as he had completely missed all classes today because of his little incident, luckily the doctor had informed the school about the situation so he was pardoned.

When he got home he decided to take a bath but as he took off his clothes he realized that the various scars marring his frame were nowhere to be seen as if they never even existed.

'Hmm maybe living with a who knows how many years old demon in my body isn't so bad.' He thought to himself.
