Chapter 10: Submission
"...The Rinnegan."
Before joining Akatsuki, Orochimaru had once crossed paths with Pain's Deva Path. When he saw those eyes—rippling with godlike authority—he recognized them instantly.
The legendary eyes of the Sage of Six Paths.
Driven by his obsession with truth and power, Orochimaru had done something wildly uncharacteristic. He lunged without preparation, attempting to gouge out Pain's eyes.
It ended with him being sent flying over a hundred meters, crashing through trees, landing in the dirt like a rag doll. That was the moment he understood—he wasn't just outclassed. He was completely overpowered.
Humbled and intrigued, he had joined Akatsuki not out of loyalty, but as a way to fish in murky waters. Yet Pain's power kept him in check. He never got another opportunity.
Now, facing Naruto—who possessed that same mythical eye—he understood why the boy dared to revive him. Why he showed no fear.
"Heh…" Orochimaru gave a dry laugh. "You really did defeat Pain... and got your hands on the Rinnegan before Obito. No wonder you had the guts to let me loose again. You're not afraid of what I might do."
Naruto's voice was calm. "So? Are you going to submit willingly?"
Orochimaru's grin widened. "Those eyes… You've only just awakened them, haven't you? How much of their power can you even use?"
"Even if it's only ten percent," Naruto said, smiling faintly, "it's more than enough for you."
"Then let's see it."
Boom!
The ground trembled. Trees shook. The monstrous form of the Yamata no Orochi surged forward, eight colossal snake heads writhing in unison.
Without a Susanoo, most would've been crushed on the spot.
But Naruto didn't flinch. He stood tall, unmoving. If he wanted to truly tame Orochimaru, it had to be done by force.
The serpent heads slammed down, each carrying weight and chakra that could rival a natural disaster.
Naruto narrowed his Rinnegan. He lifted his palm.
A translucent barrier shimmered into existence, blocking the force of the attacks.
It was one of the Rinnegan's core abilities—originating from the Deva Path. A powerful defensive technique, first seen when young Nagato instinctively used it to shield Yahiko and Konan. Even later, Pain had used it to withstand a blast from a Tailed Beast Bomb.
Its only flaw? It required the user to raise their palm in advance.
"Hmph… Not bad," Orochimaru muttered. "Then try this—"
Seven of the snake heads, sparing the one Orochimaru was hidden within, opened their jaws wide and spat out massive Kusanagi swords, glinting with murderous intent.
Naruto raised his palm again.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
All seven swords stopped mid-air, suspended unnaturally.
Orochimaru's eyes narrowed. "That's not the same shield…"
Naruto's Rinnegan flared.
"Shinra Tensei!"
Boom!
An explosion of repulsive force blasted outward. The earth cratered under his feet, collapsing into a deep basin. Wind howled in every direction.
The Yamata no Orochi was sent skidding backward, its enormous mass crashing through trees and rocks.
Konan, still in the sky, wings spread and cradling the unconscious Anko, murmured to herself, "It's like watching Nagato… Naruto's mastering the Deva Path this quickly…?"
Boom!
The beast slammed into a distant mountain wall and came to a stop.
Swish!
Naruto vanished, reappearing high above—he had thrown a kunai earlier, tagged with the Flying Thunder God seal. Now he hovered in mid-air, cloak billowing, one hand gripping the kunai, the other extended toward the mountain.
"Let's see how this does..."
Rinnegan pulsing—
"…Banshō Ten'in!"
Rumble…!
The mountain buckled. Stone cracked and shattered. Giant boulders rained down on the eight-headed serpent.
Clang!
Landing back on the ground, Naruto picked up the fallen kunai and stared at the now-buried beast.
"Earth Gravitational Collapse might not be ready yet," he muttered, "but this'll do for now, right?"
Boom… boom…!
The ground quaked.
The serpent heads burst out from beneath the rubble.
Naruto gave a tired smile. "Guess not."
"You've really fired me up now, Naruto!" Orochimaru's voice echoed.
The snake heads gathered around him, each releasing chakra in unison, forming a massive purple sphere that swelled with violent energy.
Naruto tensed.
Konan's voice crackled through the air. "That chakra… it's dangerous!"
Naruto's brow furrowed. "Almost on par with a Tailed Beast Bomb…"
Deep within him, the Nine-Tails, silent until now, twitched his ears at the words "Tailed Beast."
Boom!
The chakra sphere launched forward.
"Baqi Daima… Orochimaru's ultimate attack in this form."
Naruto didn't move.
Instead, he raised his hand and channeled the Hungry Ghost Path.
A shimmering barrier appeared—like a dome made of clear, rippling glass.
The purple sphere collided—
And stopped.
It froze mid-air, like time itself had paused.
Naruto's Rinnegan gleamed as the chakra began unraveling, pulled into the barrier.
The Yaki Daima shrank rapidly, its energy absorbed completely.
The Hungry Ghost Path's technique—the chakra absorption field—devoured it.
No jutsu ever recorded had surpassed the Hungry Ghost Path's absorption threshold. Not even a Tailed Beast Bomb.
This wasn't even close.
Orochimaru reemerged from the center snake's mouth, watching in disbelief as his strongest attack was effortlessly neutralized.
Naruto didn't smile.
He stepped forward, face cold.
"This ends now."
He vanished.
Orochimaru tried to retreat, to sink back into the serpent body—but—
"Not happening."
Naruto raised his hand.
"Banshō Ten'in!"
A sudden gravitational pull yanked Orochimaru forward. His body tensed. He dug in, resisting.
"He's trying to separate me from the Yamata no Orochi—damn it, I won't let him!"
But the force increased.
"Urghhh—!"
With a violent jerk, Orochimaru was wrenched out.
Boom!
Naruto slammed him into the ground with crushing force.
Despite the impact, Orochimaru's grotesquely modified body remained intact—his tissues could absorb even bone-breaking pressure.
But—
"It's over."
Naruto jumped again, flinging out several jet-black rods from his sleeves. They flew with precision, stabbing into Orochimaru's pressure points—his chakra nodes.
"Ugh…!"
Orochimaru's limbs twitched, then went limp.
The black rods, forged from Six Paths chakra, suppressed his own chakra completely.
No escape. No transformation. No rebirth.
Behind him, the Yamata no Orochi collapsed and vanished in a puff of smoke—its summoner severed from it.
Whoosh!
Naruto returned to the ground via Flying Thunder God, landing just beside the pinned man.
He looked down, voice quiet but firm.
"Orochimaru… can you let go of Sasuke now?"
