Chapter 44
BREAKING NEWS!
Famous mangaka Kim Jung-gun to launch a new manga series "Titan Wars" in next week's issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine!
"Titan Wars" is set on the fantastical continent of Morantis, where long ago, humans and Titans maintained a fragile peace. However, when the Titans were cursed by a dark god, they lost their sanity and turned on mankind. This sparked a hundred-year war. In defense, humans built impenetrable walls to keep the colossal creatures at bay.
The protagonist, Suga Yusuke, sneaks outside the walls in search of rare herbs to treat his ailing sister. He tragically falls off a cliff—but miraculously awakens with the lost power of a legendary hero. Returning home, he finds his town destroyed and his sister slain by rampaging Titans. Thus begins the fiery path of vengeance for this passionate youth...
The story will premiere with a double-chapter release in the next issue. Stay tuned!

This announcement appeared on the official Twitter account of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Attached below was the manga's cover art: a determined youth holding a sword and shield, confronting a towering Titan.
As soon as Eriri Spencer Sawamura, known in the industry by her pen name Eri Kashiwagi, saw the tweet, her expression twisted in rage.
"This is outrageous! It's blatantly copying Attack on Titan!"
She quickly scrolled to the comment section, bracing for the reactions of netizens:
> User A: "Kim-sensei already has a new series? He's amazing! Definitely buying this issue!"
> User B: "Just the synopsis alone sounds thrilling. Hope it gets an anime soon!"
> User C: "Small humans vs. gigantic Titans? The hype is real!"
> User D: "The story of a hot-blooded youth's revenge? Sign me up!"
> User E: "Wait... do we know if the sister gets revived later?"
> User F: "Can't wait to read this! The suspense is killing me!"
> User G: "Weekly Shonen Magazine never disappoints!"
Eriri clenched her fists in frustration. Kim Jung-gun, despite his fame and recognition in fantasy and horror manga, had clearly copied the essence of Attack on Titan. His reputation was strong, and his art style critically acclaimed, but there had long been rumors that he wasn't the sole creator of his works.
Whispers in the industry suggested a hidden ghostwriting team handled the core story and character design while Kim focused only on illustration. But due to lack of solid proof, these rumors were often dismissed.
To Eriri's further irritation, most of the comments praised Titan Wars without ever mentioning Attack on Titan. The general audience hadn't noticed the eerie similarities. Only a few discerning readers spoke up:
> User H: "Hmm... this feels a lot like Attack on Titan. Coincidence?"
> User I: "Is this an homage, or... plagiarism?"
> User J: "Not an exact copy, but the resemblance is too strong to ignore."
> User K: "This is plagiarism, no doubt about it!"
> User L: "Remember how Weekly Shonen Magazine dropped Attack on Titan during the submission round?"
> User M: "Yeah! That manga was submitted years ago, but then got shelved. Now this?!"
> User N: "Disgusting behavior. They've done this before!"
> User O: "Undersea Hero totally ripped off Ocean Adventure, and no one said a thing."
> User P: "The original creator gave up from discouragement."
> User Q: "It's a dirty strategy: use others' ideas and ride the trend."
Eriri's hands trembled. She considered logging into her "Eri Kashiwagi" account to speak up. But she stopped herself.
Her mother, Sayuri Sawamura, had warned her countless times: "If you want to succeed in this industry, avoid public confrontation. You never know how deep the consequences go."
Eriri inhaled deeply. She knew Weekly Shonen Magazine had deep connections, and several of her mother's acquaintances worked there. Despite her fury, a reckless comment could burn bridges she might need one day.
"Tch... they're shameless! But I won't stoop to their level."
Instead, she reminded herself that Attack on Titan was superior in quality, tension, and narrative depth.
Even now, she had read Volume 2 in advance and was astonished by its brilliance. The unfolding story, raw emotions, and intricate battles had no equal. No clone or imitation could ever replicate that emotional resonance.

Manga Jump Editorial Department
Late at night in Tokyo, Editor-in-Chief Yuto Funao was working overtime at his cluttered desk. Amid stacks of manuscript pages and storyboard sketches, his laptop buzzed with updates.
He noticed the trending announcement about Titan Wars.
"Titan Wars...?" He clicked the tweet.
A smirk slowly spread across his face.
"So, Jiumu... you're trying this cheap trick again."
Yuto leaned back in his chair, unbothered. Perhaps, months ago, such a move might've worried him. But not now.
Because just this evening, he had reviewed Volume 2 of Attack on Titan, sent in by lead editor Ayano Iida on behalf of their rising star, Lucien D. Blackthorn.
The draft sat right in front of him, each panel more riveting than the last. It was raw, powerful storytelling—and Whale, Lucien's pen name, had outdone himself.
"No imitation can match this," Yuto whispered. "This is the real deal."
He glanced back at the screen.
Let Weekly Shonen Magazine play their tricks.
Because Attack on Titan was about to dominate everything.
