Chapter 29 – The Unwanted Light

Lumina's steps felt heavy. She arrived at the ancient altar, its soil cracked, the light from its old stones long extinguished. No wind stirred. Only dust and shadow remained.

In front of the altar, a single circle of ancient symbols remained — the remnants of an ancestral spell.

Ilior's voice entered her mind, calm and deep.

"This is where they bound me."

"This is where I became a tool."

A shadow appeared upon the altar — Lumina's ancestors. Six figures. They called upon Ilior. They knelt, then rose, driving a seal into Ilior's body.

"You are not human."

"You are a power that must be controlled."

Lumina's ancestors took Ilior's power, dividing it into six spells, six bloodlines. They left. Ilior fell, swallowed slowly by darkness.

Lumina saw it all. Doubt lingered, but trust weighed heavier.

"Is this the truth?" she whispered.

Verruksha appeared for a brief moment, her voice weak.

"You are not him… but he can become you, if you let him."

Then she vanished again.

---

In the Land of Ancient Spirits…

Ilior struck the Spirit Lord. His body burned, yet did not break. He was still alive. Still standing.

"No one will leave this place," the Spirit Lord said.

"But the gate is already wide open," Ilior replied.

He walked slowly, and the spirit world trembled.

---

Maxcen…

He simply sat, watching.

The vision pool showed Lumina, then Amari, then the altar.

"My two children," he murmured.

He touched his pendant. The ancient symbol glowed — the mark of time's binding.

"Fifty years. Your promise."

Maxcen waited patiently. He wanted to see what Amari and her children would do.

---

Amari…

Her body trembled, her right hand blackened.

She stepped toward Lumina but could not touch her — astral energy repelled her.

Lumina saw this and whispered, "You are not my mother…".

Amari remained silent.

"Who are you?" Lumina asked.

She gave no answer. She simply placed a small scroll upon the ground.

"If you fall, if you do not know what choice to make… read this."

Lumina picked it up, hesitation in her heart.

---

Enver & Raegar…

The sky turned crimson. Raegar saw fragments of souls scattering in the wind.

"The breach has opened," he said.

Enver gripped his holy card.

"We must move quickly."

---

The Altar…

Lumina stood. Her left hand glowed. Her white card shattered on its own. The Hellseer emblem broke apart.

Light surged from her chest — not white, not black, but deep blue.

"This… is not from the Hellseer family," she murmured.

Ilior appeared in the altar's water reflection.

"It is time."

"Choose me… or them."

Lumina looked at the altar, then the sky, then closed her eyes.
