Chapter 117 - Chapter 117

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 117

"You don't have to apologize. Honestly, Claire has good behavior whenever there are no guests in the villa, at least on the surface. But she immediately shows her true colors whenever wealthy people show up... I'm tired of worrying about the things she could do behind my back, so I guess this is for the best." Mrs. Wanda bitterly smiled, clear exhaustion visible in her eyes.

"Thank you, Mrs. Wanda. Can you please take care of the children for a little while? I have to talk to Karlos in our room."

"I understand." Mrs. Wanda nodded and went inside. She found Arabella and Iñigo waiting for their mother to give them donuts, their expressions full of hope.

"Wanwa! Donats!" Arabella cried out, asking for food in her adorable, childish voice.

Looking at their innocent yet lovable expressions, Mrs. Wanda smiled lightly. She didn't know whether "Wanwa" meant Wanda or Grandma, but she found it endearing either way.

"Let's go. I cooked nice meals for you guys." Mrs. Wanda held their hands and led them to the dining room. Arabella happily followed her, skipping as she walked, while Iñigo behaved himself, holding the old woman's hand and walking carefully.

When the children went to the dining room, Maya and Karlos headed to their room. The two had agreed that they would never fight in front of the children, no matter the situation.

When the door closed with a soft click, Karlos embraced Maya with concern, his arms firm but gentle.

"Are you okay?" His voice was filled with worry.

"... Give me a moment to breathe, okay? You're squeezing me." She glared at him, trying to hide her blush and her flustered heartbeat.

Karlos followed her command and stepped back.

Maya looked her husband up and down and sighed. She hated to admit it, but Karlos was indeed attractive, annoyingly so. To the point that he seduced a woman without even trying. Maya was very mad about that fact.

However, the biggest factor in why she fell in love with Karlos was his appearance, among other things. So she had to accept the consequences of her choices, whether she liked it or not.

'I thought of putting scars on your face, but that will also hurt me. I don't want to hurt you.'

That was an insane thought, injuring his face to make Karlos ugly so that no woman would take him away from her. Definitely a crazy idea.

"Babe, I'm innocent. I swear, I didn't know that she liked me. I hardly even know her. I rarely interact with her."

Seeing that Maya was in a bad mood and clearly irritated, Karlos did his best to explain himself.

"Why are you apologizing? Did I say that you're guilty?" she mocked.

"But I feel guilty. I don't want to see you sad or angry because of me."

"This man..." She didn't know whether to laugh or sigh.

Maya could turn this situation into the worst possible outcome and make a huge ruckus if she wanted. She knew she could do that, and Karlos would have no choice but to accept the blame even though he was innocent, because of his personality. However, Maya felt that it would be childish.

The problem was gone. Claire was out of the villa and would probably never return. Maya no longer had to worry. So why bother making a scene out of it? She saw no point.

'Although I can use this situation to my advantage...' She bit her lip thoughtfully. She could boss Karlos around after this, and he would accept everything without complaint.

"Alright, let's not talk about it anymore. Let's change the topic. Why did you kick Claire?" Her tone turned serious.

Maya had already slapped Claire's cheeks and made her lip bleed badly. Yet Karlos hadn't hesitated and followed it up with a kick to the stomach.

"Because she disrespected you." His answer was firm.

This response made Maya tremble as she saw the anger in his eyes. It didn't matter who it was. Karlos would fight for Maya and the children without hesitation.

That answer made her heart flutter against her will. Her lips curled up slightly.

'I'm crazy for thinking that what he said is romantic.' She scolded herself internally.

"But what you did is assault. You could go to jail," Maya added.

That was her biggest concern. Slaps between women were often taken lightly, but a man hurting a woman was frowned upon by society. It was considered unethical. It didn't matter if the woman was wrong. According to common belief, a man shouldn't hurt a woman.

However, Karlos came from an era that supported gender equality in its truest form. Chivalry was not blindly praised. One had to protect what truly mattered first.

Karlos was only chivalrous to his wife and no one else. Other women could go to hell. Because of this, his sense of ethics differed from the norm.

"I'll contact Larry." Karlos sounded determined.

"Are you serious?" Maya blinked.

"Larry gave us his contact information precisely for situations like this. If we need help, we can contact him."

Larry might even be happy. He wanted to help Karlos because Karlos had saved his life. A simple matter like assault would be easy for Larry to handle. A single phone call to the police station would be enough to settle it.

If Claire wanted revenge and filed a case against Karlos, she would never get a satisfying outcome, no matter how hard she tried.

Seeing Karlos determined to use his connections, Maya decided not to stop him. It was his choice and likely the best one under the circumstances.

When Karlos noticed that Maya was no longer angry, he approached her.

"Babe, I love you," he said softly.

"... I won't fall for that trick," she scoffed.

She fell for it almost immediately. Karlos moved closer and kissed her passionately. His hands slowly explored her body, but Maya stopped him before things escalated.

"Take a shower first. You got dirty because of that woman's towel, and it's disgusting," she said, recalling the irritating moment.

"Okay!" he replied obediently.

Karlos took off his clothes and went straight to the bathroom. Maya smiled lightly as she watched him. She loved Karlos too much.

She opened the cabinet, grabbed a handful of condoms, and followed him. They did the shower gymnastics intensely.

...

...

...

"Babe, do you think I'm ugly?" Maya asked while sitting next to Karlos in the bathtub, leaning against him.

"Of course not. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."

That answer should have been enough, but Maya wanted more reassurance.

"Then what about my skin? I have tan skin. Don't you hate it? Should I whiten myself?" Her voice carried insecurity.
