Chapter 26 - 26:On Rescue

The next morning, Hex woke up to the sound of distant growls and rustling leaves. The forest was still dark, with only faint light filtering through the thick canopy. His body felt sore, but his mind was calm. Slowly, he climbed down the tree and stretched his limbs.

He checked the ground for footprints or threats. It appeared nothing had come close during the night.

The fire had died down completely, leaving only blackened ashes. Hex picked up his remaining grilled meat which resembled dried meat and chewed slowly, knowing it had to last until he found more food.

Looking around, he noticed the forest was tranquil, which gave him an uneasy feeling.

The silence often indicated that predators were nearby creatures even the other beasts feared.

Holding his breath, he activated his invisibility power and carefully maneuvered through the thick bushes.

About ten minutes later, he encountered a strange scene.
