Chapter 381 - Chapter 381: The Second Golden Throne

The relocation process spanned a full year. During this period, Axis had to open a portal at regular intervals, exhausting almost all of his divine power, and then undergo a recovery phase.

Axis subsequently discovered that for a Saiyan, this was actually a form of training. Since becoming a powerful deity, he had rarely depleted his divine power.

In fact, he had never even consumed more than half of it. Only maintaining a portal for twenty-four continuous hours would completely drain every ounce of Ki and divine energy from his body at once.

The Saiyan race was exceedingly peculiar. Whenever they drained their bodies to the absolute limit and then recovered, their energy levels would increase.

Therefore, opening portals became an excellent training method for Axis. In the beginning, he could only maintain the portal for twenty-four hours, but after doing so more than ten times consecutively, Axis found he could now keep it open for over thirty hours.

This progress was immense. It allowed Axis to find a new path for cultivation. Since ascending to godhood, his strength had not increased significantly, but now, through this method, he was seeing gains again.

Sure enough, Saiyans were a race that felt like a cheat code.

They had to constantly train themselves and push themselves to the brink of desperation. Otherwise, there was no way to improve. Once they stopped, a Saiyan basically stagnated.

Only constant pressure allowed a Saiyan to progress and caused their bloodline to evolve.

Observing Axis use such a method to train his own strength, the people of the Imperium could only remark that he was truly abnormal.

"Axis, exactly how strong do you have to become before you are satisfied? I can't believe you are actually cultivating this way," Sanguinius said, somewhat speechless, coming before Axis after a day of transport work had concluded.

Over the past year, he had watched Axis grow with his own eyes. He had not expected that maintaining a large-scale, cross-universal portal could actually allow this brat to improve.

"Becoming stronger is just like eating or entertainment for a Saiyan. As long as a Saiyan is alive, he will never stop pursuing power, and he will never stop seeking to go a step further. So, barring any accidents, I will continue to train hard and become stronger until I can find no way to improve, until I have cultivated to the extreme and reached the very end," Axis said as he stood up.

Originally, Axis estimated it would take three or four months at most to move everything, but since mastering this method, he changed his mind.

Naturally, one could never have too much strength, so the moving progress was delayed slightly.

Furthermore, Axis discovered that the King of FIgurines was dishonest. This was merely one of his bases; the old schemer had quite a few other collection sites.

As the saying went, a cunning hare has three burrows. As the treacherous and slippery Necron Overlord, the top-tier thief of the universe, the King of FIgurines naturally would not have just one base.

So Axis ferretted out all of his bases. Within these hidden locations, Axis discovered quite a few precious items, including many technological artifacts left behind by the Old Ones during the War in Heaven.

One of these items left Axis somewhat speechless, for it was a Golden Throne.

That was correct. It was the same device that the Old Man in Gold sat upon, except this was the original version. It was a device developed by the Old Ones to excavate the Webway and control it.

The version of the Golden Throne used by the Emperor had been modified by humanity during the Dark Age of Technology, and even modified by the Eldar aspects prior to that.

That was why strange additions had been attached to it, with most of its functions used for torture.

However, this original Golden Throne had only two simple functions. First, it significantly enhanced one's psychic power.

Second, using that enhanced psychic power, it excavated a special tunnel within the rift between the Warp and reality, linking it with other excavated tunnels.

"Axis, how do you intend to deal with that new Golden Throne we found?" Sanguinius stepped forward to support Axis, helping him sit down before asking.

The discovery of this new Golden Throne gave Sanguinius a deeper understanding of this renowned collector of the galaxy; the fellow was indeed a remarkable existence.

During the War in Heaven, he had actually managed to seize this item.

Unfortunately, the Necron race, even before their biotransference, was a species devoid of psychic potential that despised psychic energy. Thus, even obtaining a device similar to the Golden Throne was useless to them aside from being a collection piece.

This time, Axis had maintained the portal for thirty-one hours, once again breaking his own limit. The price, of course, was draining his body until he was nearly empty; he even had trouble standing.

In this state, Axis would need to rest for at least five or six days to recover, and that was assuming he consumed the fruit of the Tree of Might.

"We will take it back to our world, of course. Since the Trazyn of this world possesses such a device, it implies that the Trazyn of our world likely has one too," Axis said.

The Golden Throne was a good item. It could amplify psychic power and be used to excavate new Webway systems. In the current Imperium, Sanguinius could sit on it.

Of course, the more suitable candidate was actually Magnus. If Little pony sat on it, he could also excavate the Webway world.

This device had immense utility for the Imperium, and it was a prototype unit completely untouched by the modifications of any other race.

If humanity could fully comprehend the technology within, they could create their own Webway excavation devices.

"Alright. However, the Old Ones were truly powerful beyond all our expectations. The requirements to sit upon the Golden Throne are quite high. At the very least, one must be a psyker on the level of Magnus or Father to be qualified.

"And yet the Old One back then, relying on their own strength, managed to excavate a Webway system that spread across the entire Milky Way. This is equivalent to creating a separate universe," Sanguinius noted.

It was undeniably true.

The excavation of the Webway was simply too shocking. It contained another dimensional space within it, allowing life from the materium to survive inside.

"That race was indeed very powerful, but it is a pity they have now disappeared into history, becoming a thing of the past, completely vanishing from the galaxy," said Trazyn the Infinite, who was currently sealed within a stasis bottle by Axis.

Over the past year, he had suffered a major blow; almost all of his collections had been stolen by the two individuals before him.

However, the technology displayed by these two included traversing to another reality, something even his Necron race had not mastered.

"Actually, our race is more perfect, because we were the ultimate victors of the War in Heaven. Even the Star Gods, the C'tan who allied with us, were eventually defeated by us, shattered into countless shards, and imprisoned," Trazyn stated.

"You claimed victory? I am actually quite curious. During the War in Heaven back then, you were completely suppressed by the Old Ones, arguably without any power to resist. But once the C'tan joined the battle, you suddenly turned defeat into victory. I always feel there is something slightly strange about that," Axis said.

The stronger one became, the more one understood the truth of the universe.

Axis understood just how precious the Webway system was.

How powerful must a race be to excavate the Webway and create such a wondrous world?

Axis had a doubt. Could a powerful race capable of excavating the Webway really be completely wiped out by the combined hands of the Necrons and the C'tan?

The Necrons' technology had indeed reached the pinnacle of the physical universe, mastering FTL drives, extracting stellar energy, and even controlling black holes.

But according to some settings, humanity during the Golden Age, or rather the Dark Age of Technology, although slightly inferior to the Necrons, was not that far behind.

As for the C'tan, their shards possessed combat power that was inferior to even a Super Saiyan.

Regarding their main bodies, even if they represented certain cosmic laws, they definitely would not be a match for a Super Saiyan 2 or 3.

Axis could analyze this point based on the few C'tan he had fought.

Therefore, generally speaking, the alliance of the C'tan and the Necrons should not have been able to utterly defeat the Old One race.

"What do you mean by those words?" Trazyn asked.

"Literal meaning. I suspect you were never the true victors of that war, or perhaps the powerful Old One race has merely hidden themselves. After all, back then, the influence of the Old Ones had already expanded beyond the galaxy, while you Necrons were still within the Milky Way," Axis said.

There used to be boastful claims that the War in Heaven shattered the entire universe, leaving only the Milky Way as a remnant, but the reality was quite different.

That war erupted within the Milky Way and, at most, reached the edge of the galaxy. It did not even affect the neighboring Andromeda Galaxy.

The simplest example was that the Tyranids came from outside the Milky Way, and before arriving here, they had devoured an unknown number of galaxies.

To say the entire universe was shattered leaving only the Milky Way was absurd.

And how big was the Milky Way? In reality, it was pitifully small, like a single grain of sand in a desert. To give a simple example: if the Milky Way was equivalent to a grain of sand on Earth, then all the sand on Earth added together would not equal the number of galaxies currently discovered.

Were the Necrons powerful? The Celestial Orrery sounded impressive, capable of detonating all stars within the Milky Way, but that thing had a long preparation time.

To put it bluntly, was detonating stars in a single galaxy truly that impressive? Anyone with a bit of astronomical knowledge knew that was merely the standard operation of a Type III or IV civilization.

The creatures of the Warhammer universe were, to put it plainly, a group of weirdos riding modern airplanes while wearing ancient Roman armor and wielding iron weapons.

The only ones who were slightly more normal might be these Necrons, but even they could not escape a certain restriction.

The technological level of the entire galaxy, or rather the progress of the races within the universe, was completely stagnant.

The Necrons' technological level had not improved at all compared to sixty million years ago; in fact, it was far inferior to their peak. The human race was the same, and the Eldar were likewise.

It seemed that every race, once they pushed technology or something else to a peak, was destined to decline and then become a half-dead wreck struggling to survive in this galaxy.

It felt like a laboratory. Axis had this specific feeling that this place seemed to be an experimental ground created by someone, or some existence.

He was a Super Saiyan possessing immense power, yet even the current Axis, bursting with full power, could at most destroy a few star systems, not galaxies like the Milky Way.

To say he could destroy the universe was something Axis currently could not achieve; at most, he could cause cosmic disturbances or perform feats like crossing universes.

"Axis, did you discover something?" Sanguinius asked.

At this moment, Trazyn the Infinite leaned in with a curious expression; he also wanted to hear what Axis wanted to say or what he had found.

"Let me give you an example. In this universe, there is a very special race. The T'au. This is a very young race. During the Great Crusade era, they had only just entered the Stone Age, but in just a few thousand years, they developed into a space-faring civilization, and their technology is progressing rapidly.

"There is also the Rangda we once exterminated; their technological level was also progressing rapidly.

"If left to develop, had we not destroyed them back then, the Rangda likely would have grown to the level of humanity's Dark Age of Technology. The T'au are the same.

"Then, an inevitable event would surely occur: these two races would decline due to certain events. It might likely be another incident similar to the rebellion of the Iron Men.

"Or perhaps, they engage in war with another race, and then, just like the Necrons and the Old Ones, both fall?" Axis hypothesized.

The stronger he became, the more intense this feeling was.

The Beast Arises series had implied that traces of design existed in the universe.

The technology stagnation paradox: all powerful races (Old Ones, Necrons, Eldar, Humans) inevitably declined after reaching their peak, with technology stagnating or regressing, which did not conform to the natural laws of development.

The unreasonable defeat of the Old Ones also pointed to this.

"I think you might be overthinking it. The things you are speculating about should... should not be true. It is impossible for such a terrifying existence to exist; there is absolutely no meaning in doing so. I really cannot figure out what race or what person would be willing to do this. If that were the case, then even the four Chaos Gods are being controlled by this entity," Trazyn said.

"Oh? What kind of race do you think the Old Ones were? When they roamed the galaxy, did the four Chaos Gods exist?" Axis asked.

According to the settings, the most ancient Warp was actually a very pure world, where the energies were neutral. Through the purification of his own Ki, Axis could verify this point.

"You are correct, there were indeed no Warp Gods back then. Although the Warp existed, but..." Trazyn suddenly fell into silence.

Because the Warp seemed to be something the Old Ones intentionally guided other races to discover.

Even the war between their race and the Old Ones felt pushed by an invisible hand.

"There is a problem here. I heard that in the beginning, the C'tan did not have their own physical bodies. They were purely energy-based creatures that fed on stellar energy or various radiation energies in the universe. It was you who discovered them and used living metal to create bodies for them, which allowed them to become the Star Gods," Axis said.

This was the most ancient, original version of the setting. Although it had been shelved, it had never been completely abandoned.

"It seems you know quite a lot about matters from sixty million years ago. Yes, it was indeed so. But the C'tan themselves were very powerful; we merely forged suitable shells for them using necrodermis."

"Then theoretically, the Star Gods were actually lifeforms created by you? Then let us make a hypothesis. Is it possible that the Warp was actually created by the Old Ones? Perhaps even the four Chaos Gods, including a certain Dark King, were lives created by this race," Axis said.

Upon hearing this, both Sanguinius and Trazyn the Infinite were dumbfounded. They dared not imagine why Axis would propose such an outrageous theory.

Sanguinius wanted to refute it, but he also felt that this galaxy was indeed very strange.

As for Trazyn the Infinite, his electronic eyes flickered a few times as if performing some kind of calculation.

"I do not deny the possibility, but you do not have any evidence. This is merely your conjecture."

"Indeed, it is my conjecture. But the strength of those four fellows is far too disparate from their status. For gods who skirmish within the galaxy, I really do not feel they are any high and mighty entities," Axis posed his question.

"Axis, what do you think the Tyranids are? If our galaxy is truly a testing ground, then how do you explain the arrival of the Tyranids?" Sanguinius asked.

"The Tyranids precisely prove my point. In this world, which lifeform is most adept at creating strange and bizarre races? Don't you think the Tyranids, to a certain extent, are actually very similar to the Orks? They very likely were sent here specifically to execute warfare stimulation, solely for the purpose of engulfing the galaxy in the flames of war."
